Hey Dravecky, I am kinda confused on how to correct edits made by User:Tnmiller to the WMRO page. He seems to be bordering on OWNing the article and I am not really sure what to do. Well, I always stick with what the FCC states and it didn't have "Bill" in the name on the transfer. So, I was just going with WPRS rules. :) - Neutralhomer • Talk • 07:20, 6 April 2012 (UTC)

Dead link in article 'Area codes 256 and 938'

Hi. I tried to fix the dead links in 'Area codes 256 and 938', but there was one that I couldn't fix. I marked it with {{Dead link}}. Can you help fix the last dead link?

  • I tried to load this link on 27 March, 30 March, 1 April and today, but it never worked.
  • I looked in The Wayback Machine and WebCite but I couldn't find a suitable replacement.

Okay, after a quick survey (and adding a link to each station's 'deleted' FCC database entry for further research) I see what my next few projects will be: datamining for these stations before their database entries disappear for real. The good news is that several of these appear to be the mostly-harmless "failure to file a timely renewal" actions which can be undone with a few letters and a cashiers check so one or more of these stations may yet be saved. - Dravecky (talk) 20:29, 11 April 2012 (UTC)

75,000

Thanks to a bit of careful timing, my 75,000th edit to Wikipedia is KERB (AM), the historic radio station in the West Texas town of Kermit. While nowadays it's a neglected affiliate in a small Spanish-language religious radio network, KERB was a country music powerhouse in the 1950s and 1960s with a lot of regional and local musicians working or playing there. One guy with a show in 1953 was Roy Orbison who formed a band ("The Wink Westerners") with some high school classmates before going off to North Texas State, Sun Records, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. - Dravecky (talk) 20:36, 11 April 2012 (UTC)

I think a sock puppet is back again censoring the Mike Martinez page yesterday. This is the third account to be used in which they have made no other edits or contributions to wikipedia. My name is Victor and I'm a storyteller with the Wikimedia Foundation, the non-profit organization that supports Wikipedia. I'm chronicling the inspiring stories of the Wikipedia community around the world, including those from readers, editors, and donors. Stories are absolutely essential for any non-profit to persuade people to support the cause, and we know the vast network of people who make and use Wikipedia have so much to share.

I'd like to to talk to you about your work on Radio and the other projects you have worked on.

I'd very much like the opportunity to interview you to tell your story, with the possibility of using it in our materials, on our community websites, or as part of this year’s fundraiser to encourage others to support Wikipedia. Was doing some template cleanup, and I came across this article that had some recent edits of yours on it. The article transcludes Template:Amarillo Radio, but the station isn't listed in the template and I can't figure out from the coverage maps how it fits into the market. Obviously, you know this area of the world waaaay better than I do, so I didn't want to edit that out without checking in with you first. Mlaffs (talk) 13:46, 29 April 2012 (UTC)

The station, owned by Grace Community Church of Amarillo, doesn't broadcast into Amarillo proper but it covers the northern suburbs and exurbs from its transmitter in the Oklahoma panhandle, due north of Amarillo. It covers the northern part of the metro while sister station KRBG covers the city and points south. So while based on its coverage area it would be a stretch to include it in the template, the station is tied to the Amarillo market so I put it in the article as a navigation aid.
