Deletion of Nanacoco

Dear Mr. Haworth, I noticed that you deleted the Nanacoco article, on the ground that it is and advertisement. As I am new to Wikipedia, I would very much appreciate your expert comments on how I can write article about a fashion brand that would past the wiki criteria. Our intension is only to report fact and post historical development of a fashion brand with the hope that oneday it could be useful to anyone who is a student of fashion or have interested in fashion industry. Although, this is rarely done by any fashion companies as they would most likely treat it as company secret, but in our oppionion - sharing is better. As we would continue to add more and more content to wiki on our brand, I want to make sure that we do it the right way.

  • Is it a particular sentence? word? link? I think I could remove the words "leading manufacturer", and also the links to our own webpage and facebook.
  • The rest of the links were real discussion and citation that other website have mentioned about our brand. Can I still refer to these third party website and articles?

In comparison: I saw an article on Harajuku Lovers, which seems to be well accepted. So I guess writing about fashion brand is not inappropriate, but I would like to get your oppinion on how Harajuku Lovers article would be less advertising than Nanacoco. Also, I would appreciate if you could restore Nanacoco article, so that I can don't have to start from scratch again.....   • We were not impressed by the references which fell short of our criteria for significant coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources. What a ridiculous idea to omit links to the company's own website. But you did not provide one - presumably because the company does not have a website yet. Other stuff exists is never an argument and Harajuku Lovers is a very bad example to chose - it is an hang over when Wikipedia was less fussy about evidence. Thank you, and a steep learning curve for me. Our brand is 13 year and still going strong. It is wellknown to customer from many asian countries, but perhaps less so to Westerners. The company website is undergoing facelift at the moment, and is meant to be included in the article later on. See old website. Harajuku was a bad example, but looks like Tokyogirl79 is reacting quickly to add references to TV medias and a book! I guess when the brand owner being a wellknown celebrity, the brand can easily gain media promotion.

The evidence I provided were real coverage by independent websites and TV programs to advise traveller from Japan and Korea on the hot shopping destination, but how can it be proven to you in this case? These are old coverage by the way. Notable sources such as CNN, BBC, or even Fashion channel will be unlikely. So eventhough if any person with no COI would want to write about us, what would constitute a notable source for them to reference? — Oldprame 3:00, 6 March 2013 (Thailand)

  • Did you see the letters COI above? Did you see that they were a link? Did you follow that link? I take the view that you should not be contributing to Wikipedia on this subject. Fortunately for you, you may have a supporter. After reading it again just now, I do understand and agree that I shall not be the person to post articles on NANACOCO brand. Fischer Z / John Watts

Hi There - I'm afraid I'm not particularly au-fait with the ways of Wikipedia but I am currently helping manage the singer/poet/playwright John Watts, formerly the founder and still sole member of Fischer-Z. There have previously been attempts to create a separate page for John, as he is about to tour with his new project, Round The World, comprising of songs, poems and his new play which will be performed across various locations around the world, including the Edinburgh Fringe and the Wilton Music Hall in London.

Unfortunately you have deleted the solo page for John Watts citing a copyright infringement of Fischer-Z, which would be unusual seeing as he is Fischer-Z! As I mentioned, we're keen to rectify and problems like this as soon as possible, in order that people are able to see John's catalogue of work independently of the Fischer-Z work.

  • The original page was a copy of this page. Since it contains no copyright notice, we had to assume that its status is "all rights reserved" and using it on Wikipedia was a copyright violation. The Wikipedia page also qualified for deletion for a total absence of independent references. Whilst it is not a formal deletion criterion, it deserved deletion for the uttter idleness of the author, Leila the sailer (talk · contribs) for making no attempt to create a Wikipedia article. Notability issue

I am back, but not about Nanacoco. I am planning to add new articles on other topic of interest, such as Thai woodworking tools and technique. However, I fear that citation would be an issue again. Although there are many people who are interested about woodworking around the world, there are still not a whole lot of good internet coverage on real Traditional Thai woodworking tools and technique. There are a few printed books on the subject, but they are old and out of print. Many are also just trade secret that past down within family, or among local craftsman communities, such as finishing technique. These are topic which require legs work to visit and talk to these craftsman and guru's around the country. So, how can I prove notability and in this case? I mean, the reason I want to put it on Wikipedia is to share knowledge that otherwise many woodworkers around the world would not have the chance to learn about it from these village craftsmen, or may just die with the ageing craftsmen. — Oldprame 10:27, 6 March 2013 (Thailand)

  • Firstly, I am impressed at the way you accepted my advice about Nanacoco so willingly. As to woodworking, I fear that if you cannot find good references in English, then the knowledge will have to die with the craftsmen at least as far as Wikipedia is concerned. One suggestion, if you are bi-lingual, start with an article on the topic in the Thai Wikipedia. Hi Roger, since you're in Category:Wikipedia administrators who will provide copies of deleted articles, I thought I'd ask if you'd be willing to restore Names for soft drinks for me, which was deleted after an expired PROD. I don't know what sort of condition it's in, but in the US at least, I think this is a notable topic that's actually been the topic of scholarly study. At your discretion, it can go in my namespace if it's really in bad shape. I asked the deleting administrator almost two weeks ago, but he or she has been inactive for a while. I came across User:Engineer raheem. He posted his Resume with name, phone number, and email address. I gave him a customized welcome and deleted the identifying information from his user page.   • You were too gentle. It needed a speedy tag and, in notifying the user you should preferably not have given a welcome message. Even if the text is not blatant self-promotion, I take a firm view. Deletion of Creature Creature

Dear Mr. Haworth, You've deleted the |creature creature page. My intention was to created the page so user people could easyly edit it to make it a batter page. This is not my band, but as a musician I wanted to spread the culture. WikipEdia is about culture right ?? I don't have big times for making a big page at the time, I'm new to Wikipedia, and my intention is to make new pages, so I can edit it from times to times and add few stuff each moment I got time to spend (for example : NOW).

  • It would have helped if you had provided a proper link to the article in question. "Create the page so people could easily edit it to make it a better page". Yes, that is very much the idea of Wikipedia. But there is a minimum-standard threshold which an article must get over before that process can begin and your article fell well below that threshold. Deletion of VCU Rowdy Rams

Dear Mr. Haworth, I noticed that you deleted the VCU Rowdy Rams article, on the ground that it was an article about a group or club, which does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject. I would like your ideas on how this article can be available on Wikipedia. The Rowdy Rams are an official organization of Virginia Commonwealth University. The reason they are significant is because they were recently voted the number one student section in all of college basketball. Here is the link to one of the many articles stating that the VCU Rowdy Rams won the second annual Naismith Student Section of the Year award, which celebrates the most passionate college basketball fans. http://rvanews.com/news/rowdy-rams-named-student-section-of-the-year/85820

Also, the article was made with similiar characteristics to other College Basketball Supporter groups. Some of these groups include,SDSU Show, Cameron Crazies and the Oakland Zoo (cheering section). The company has been repeatedly featured (not just mentioned in passing) in multiple articles in several different South Korean newspapers-- I don't see what the problem is. I was following Wikipedia:Verifiability#Non-English_sources, which simply says English sources are "preferred" over other languages but doesn't say anywhere that the use of non-English references fails to establish importance. List of tea companies

I added some local Australian tea companies to list of tea companies, which are not currently on Wikipedia and you have removed them. They had links to their company sites. Could you please advise why these were deleted? In the comparison history there is a comment: ATTENTION! DO NOT ADD COMPANIES WITHOUT WIKIPEDIA ARTICLES, or LINKS TO EXTERNAL SITES. THEY WILL BE REMOVED. The edit history says - ‎Australia: strip down to blue links.... All the companies I added had links to External Sites, so why have they been changed or removed?   • Curious. See this edit and its edit summary: "redundant phrasing removed per WP:EoS". I don't know whether Jerryobject (talk · contribs) genuinely thought he was replacing the message with an equivalent wording or whether it was a cynical attempt to conceal an attempt at a policy change. Perhaps you would like to ask him.

Should I have listed all the external sites under "External Sites links" at the bottom of the page instead? If this is the case, why weren't they moved instead of being deleted? They are in reference to the category Australia, so one would think it more appropriate to be under that title.   • Terminology: "company doesn't have a Wikipedia already" - how can a company have a Wikipedia? You mean "company doesn't have a Wikipedia article already". Not only can external links be added to a company's page, they must be added or the article is going to be deleted for lack of evidence. But in list of tea companies we are not talking about a company article, we are talking about a list article where the rules are different. Hi RHaworth, there is a draft article at AfC, Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Mydolls, that I would like to move to main article space. It has several meaty news articles cited covering a considerable period, so the subject almost certainly meets WP:GNG. It is not written in an unduly promotional tone.

Roger, like paint.net and few other free image editors that do listed in wikipedia, Photo Pos Pro to is a freeware, the developers works in another work for living.. the software written to give a free alternative for users that do not wish to pay or not have money to pay for professional editor. I think you were very mistaken in deleting this article. It should have been transwiki'd to the Sinhalan Wikipedia as it does not exist there. Pretty much you have deleted a translated article simply because it was posted on the wrong Wikipedia. Did you even read my comment on the talk page? Loverin Tamburin

I just noticed that you protected Loverin Tamburin‎ ‎with the following comment: "(indefinite) ‎(repeatedly created A7 − non-notable person, organisation, etc.: spam and copyvio)". When that page was most recently created, I worked on it a bit, and while I did miss that it was a copyvio (my mistake), I was able to confirm that they have charted in Japan. In other words, they clearly pass WP:BAND, particularly criterion 2. (See the Oricon page.) Having worked on a lot of AfD's, I think they would easily survive an AfD. So while the article should have been deleted for copyvio, I don't think it should be indefinitely protected as non-notable. Michitaro (talk) 14:13, 18 March 2013 (UTC)

Deletion of Zeeis

Dear Mr. RHaworth,

My new article has been deleted, I was wrote my first article Vimicro on 2009. Until now, there only have few articles on Wikipedia about notable Chinese organizations, therefore a few years later, I want to continue to write and update some articles on this topic again.

Even I had read Wikipedia articles for many years and registered for few years, but I do not have much courage to write the content due to my lack of wring experience on Wikipedia, so I just tried to write a article yesterday. It has been deleted, my first article Vimicro has been tagged to be deleted by it still there, I think this article "Zeeis" is better than my first article but it still has been gone. So I'm confused, how to can I contribute my content to Wikipedia for next articles?

Before I start to write this article for I've read many articles like this and these articles have been alive, I think my article is better than these articles.

For examples such as NxTier, Doghouse_systems, InnoPath_Software. I saw ApexSQL_Software has been removed the delete tag, this article without any 2nd sources or verified by any 3rd-party but it still alive.

I'm an IT industry researcher in China to study companies and analyze markets, and want to share my information on Wikipedia to write many articles about companies, products and markets. But for my two articles suffered I can't see the hope for my way on Wikipedia,

1) fair operation for the different regions of the world, there are a lot of articles about organizations in the Americas and Europe, I think there should be more opportunities to developing countries information on this free encyclopedia that will make the information more balanced, diversified and more benefits for all Wikipedia users.

Deletion of E107 (software)

Dear Mr Haworth,

Unfortunately we discovered today that the page E107 (software) was marked for rapid deletion. And it was quick indeed, because despite the User talk page comments I and others added today, the Wikipedia page for E107 (software) was gone this afternoon (GMT+1) on 23-March-2013.

I don't believe in conspiracies so often, but this might be one. Let me explain myself further. The original page E107 (software) was already deleted once in 2009. At that time having the page deleted was not such a big deal. The page was already written badly and a lot of references were lacking. We (the community of e107 Content Management System) decided to create a new page from scratch under a new name E107 (CMS) We found that a more appropriate name. However I think that the latest modifications on the page reverted a lot of the content back to a state almost similar to the situation at the early stages of that newly created page. On top of it the name of the page was reverted from E107 (CMS) to E107 (software). Due to the rename action, suddenly the Talk page contained all the old arguments to delete the former page. And admittedly the current content of the page would have supported that decision. However, if you look back at older revisions (e.g. changes to the page under my account) you will see the actual text was modified a lot compared to the old page at E107 (CMS).

Also, we are a vivid Content Management System listed in e.g. this list. We would like to have visitors of Wikipedia have the opportunity to have a fair comparison, hence we would like to inform visitors what our CMS has to offer, just as all the other PHP CMS systems from that list. If we need to improve our content based on Wikipedia policies, we will be more than happy to change the content accordingly. But than we would like to have a fair time frame in order to get our act together and implement improvements.

Therefore I would like to ask you to undo the deletion of page E107 (software), and I will be very appreciative if you could specify some pointers to improve the content of our E107 (software) page. The vast part of the community consisting out of 124059 registered members will be thankful as well.

Deletion of TruthOrFiction.org

You deleted TruthOrFiction.org just minutes after I contested its nomination for Speedy Deletion. Please send me the article source.

This article should not have been speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because, for nearly a decade and a half, it was one of the leading "truth-checking" sites in the Internet, like Snopes.com, UrbanLegends.About.com, HoaxInfo.com (now defunct), BreakTheChain.org (lasted 13 years, but now defunct, though the web site still exists), and hoaxbusters.ciac.org (also lasted 13 years, but now defunct).

Of all those hoax-checking sites, only three remain: TruthOrFiction.com, UrbanLegends.About.com and Snopes.com. UrbanLegends.About.com has only a modest database of urban legends, but Snopes and TruthOrFiction both have huge databases of chain-emails, hoaxes, eRumors, etc., debunked or verified, and both are widely referenced and highly notable. They are very often referenced together; indeed, google-searching for both domain names together yields over 1,000,000 hits. But only Snopes had a Wikipedia page, until today, when I created one for TruthOrFiction -- except that, a mere couple of hours later, you deleted it. NCdave (talk) 00:06, 24 March 2013 (UTC)

Deletion of Exsite Webware (software)

Can you explain why you speedy-deleted this 2-yr old page? It was quite useful for developers looking to understand the origins of this useful package. Your explanation didn't make much sense, so we out here in radio-land would sure appreciate knowing what you were thinking when you did this. If you can't "undelete" it, could you at least point us to the text of the most recent version so we'd have a decent chance of recreating it? I was just involved in trying to get the developers to upload their logo (which I can't do because I'm not the owner of the logo). There's quite a lot of work there that you flushed down the toilet and, if nothing else, I'd like to get it back. Santamoly (talk) 04:13, 25 March 2013 (UTC)

PS: Is it you (RHaworth) who deleted this page, or someone else (a "Captain Conundrum")? The message on my talk page was signed by "Captain Conundrum", but the deletion info on the Exsite Webware page was signed by you (RHaworth). I'm also puzzled by the "copyrighted text or images obtained from other web sites" label. I wrote some of the original contributions, and none of it was copied. Now that you've deleted the page, I can't verify or dispute what you're saying since others may have added to the article in the 2 years that it has been in place. Or perhaps Exsite Webware lifted the WP article for their own page. Please restore the article ASAP. It doesn't deserve Speedy Deletion especially since it was in place for several years, and it's original content. Then we (editors) can figure out what was going on. You definitely are a Wikipedia dilettante - the story is perfectly simple and easy to understand: Captain Conundrum (talk · contribs) proposed deletion by applying a {{db-copyvio}} tag and notified you. I then deleted it as the deletion log states. The story of the alleged copy source being actually copied from Wikipedia is quite possible but I am not willing to restore since the article was also deletable on the grounds of lack of evidence of notability. I'm not too thrilled that you choose to start this conversation by hurling insults. That's so clearly against WP principles that I'm astonished that you have any kind of administrative capacity. I've done nothing to deserve this kind of abuse, which you seem to enjoy dishing out, even to the point of calling yourself "bolshie" (which doesn't appear to be very WP-ish). But, back to the topic at hand: I have opened an email address, and look forward to viewing the article. If you would be so kind as to point out what you think is copy-vio, please do so. The article concerns a computer operating system, so you also must be careful saying that it's not notable if you're naught but a bolshie artist, for example. The article has been through this kind of mindless bolshie AFD-copy-vio/lack-of-notability activity before, so I'd like to see if we're witnessing a repeat of previous episodes in which no problem was found after AFD, when in fact nobody had actually looked at the article. Regardless of your radical instincts, could you please overcome your revolutionary urges and email the article to me so I can start dealing with your bolshie concerns ASAP.
