Project: Merge Two Projects So That It Looks Better And Also Helps Us Aswell

Sure, lets talk where we should at the project talk page. Stefan 13:43, 21 August 2006 (UTC)

Two tingsesses

First, both projects should be at Wikipedia:WikiProject Sharks, as a unified project, in my humble estimation. That said, I still don't think my concerns on Talk:Wobbegong remain unaddressed. I would fix the article if I knew more about the subject... Tomertalk 03:12, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

Don't block me

We can't unblock you at this time, because you haven't given us the information we need to even look into your block. You yourself were not blocked; if you were prevented from editing, you must have been autoblocked or blocked because of your IP address. I'm removing your unblock request because there's nothing we can do without this information. If you still want to be unblocked, feel free to add the {{unblock}} tag back to this page, and be sure to include the message you saw when you tried to edit, including the IP address. This is what the message looks like. Without that information, we can't help you. ЯEDVERS 10:02, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

WikiProject Sharks

Do you think it is good idea to copy stuff from the other project wholesale and claim it as yours? I would have thought you'd want to do your own pages rather than use ones from the other project, otherwise what is the point of continuing to run your own project? Yomanganitalk 17:45, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

The article template (but obviously you know what you have copied over). Yomanganitalk 17:48, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

Unblock NOW

Can someone please explain why I was blocked from editing MY OWN USERPAGE.

Your account is not blocked, and has not been since February according to the block log. If you are still being prevented from editing, please provide the exact message you are receiving. -- Arwel (talk) 14:49, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
Thank you. You appear to have shared an AOL IP address XXX.XX.XX.X which was banned for 31 hours yesterday for vandalising the page of a Brazilian football club - this is the 12th time since March that this particular IP address has been blocked. The block has been lifted, but for information if this happens again, if you log out and log in again AOL will probably allocate you another IP address. AOL now provides Wikipedia with the true IP addresses of many, but not all, of their customers, so this sort of collateral damage should become less common in the future. -- Arwel (talk) 15:01, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

Box

That box you left on some shark articles is terrible. I can't read half the writing, Could you fix the colouring? Then I'll know what it means. :-) Cheers GrahamBould 06:09, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

Help!

How come some messages appear on this page but then dissapear, eeven of the history? Lenny 07:49, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

I don't think that they do. Perhaps you accidentally looked at somebody else's talk page, or you just missed that message when looking a second time? —Daniel (‽) 08:24, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

Page Move

You're page Wikipedia:User:Unisouth/Old/Template:User Discussion Closed. Was created with a bad page name and its contents have been moved to User:Unisouth/Old. --1568 05:31, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

Please don't scream by using Caps Lock, try to remain civil with your comments. It's your page not mine, Check hist if you want to delete it you can. I just wanted to inform you about the page move.--1568 08:12, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

Sharks

I don't want to appear rude, but do you have any creative input at all on Wikipedia. Everytime something changes on WikiProject Sharks, you come along and steal it for 'your' project. The logo, the talk template, the article template, the design of the project page, and other little things. You say you spent ages making WikiProject Shark but all i see that you have done is steal stuff from other projects trying to pass them off as your own and make countless templates. You say that you didn't edit that image from the Sharks one, i don't really care if you did, but you did steal the design, it even says 'WikiProject Sharks' for God's sake.

You can't just change major things, and if you do you should expect some of them to be reverted. Wikipedia is a joint effort which means that you founding the project gives you no more authority over it than anyone else on wikipedia. Things are up for voting, stating that there is a co-project is not right; it should be voted for, and as you could see no one wanted one. You really aren't helping anyone, you are just holding WikiProject Sharks back from getting its real work done just so that you have a project to your name. --chris_huh 09:55, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

Personal attacks

Please do not engage in personal attacks on other editors, as you did here. Thank you. Kirill Lokshin 16:38, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

  1. It was a perfectly clear personal attack. We do not tolerate referring to other contributors as "idiots" and "slimy."
  2. Articles on Wikipedia—including project-space pages like WikiProjects—are not owned by anyone. He's perfectly free to make good-faith edits to anything he pleases. Kirill Lokshin 16:43, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

I have listed this article for speedy deletion because it was previously deleted per an AfD (articles for deletion) discusion. - Blood red sandman 18:38, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

"this website"

On your userpage, you indicate that you a regular contributor to "this website". As wikipedia isn't technically a website, this gives you an air of, shall we say, inaccuracy, and maybe unprofessionalism. You might consider changing the phrasing. Badbilltucker 21:22, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

Chris the idiot

Please understand that I do NOT control 'my' project or 'my' members!!!! I have already stated that I will never edit 'your' project again and I will not! Stefan 23:15, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

OK, slight modification, I will not edit your project, I might revert it if you decide to remove things like comments on talk pages, or add things that is against wikipedia policy, but I will not change or copy things from 'your' project since you most often thinks it is yours and you do not understand the concept of a wiki. Stefan

WikiProject: Shark and related items nominated for discussion

Just letting you know that Wikipedia:WikiProject Shark is currently being considered for deletion at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:WikiProject Shark and that the Category:WikiProject Shark and its contents are being discussed at Wikipedia:Categories for deletion/Log/2006 September 6 under Category: WikiProject:Shark. Badbilltucker 18:18, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

Also, please note that being "first" is not necessarily the only thing that matters. You will also note that nowhere else in wikipedia are there overlapping projects like the two here. Other people have joined the other group, no one has joined yours. Wikipedia does not permit such redundancy, certainly not when one party engages in abusive language, as you have, which is itself not tolerated in wikipedia. Your statement that your project will go on is one which is difficult to understand. The other project will continue to exist and develop and maintain articles as it has always done. Only the templates and project page of your project are being considered for deletion. I strongly urge you to read the WP:GFDL agreement you agreed to when you first agreed to edit in wikipedia. And, if you are truly interested in developing the articles relating to this subject, join the other project if the discussion to delete your own results in a deletion consensus. Badbilltucker 19:04, 6 September 2006 (UTC)
And don't blame anyone else for the proposal to delete the project. That was done by me personally after discussion regarding the project with others. The issue came up when we saw that there were two active projects dealing with the same subject. Also, I note that you claim the other project "stoll" your members. I would ask you whether you yourself would join a project which has a member who uses the abusive language you yourself use. My guess is that you would choose to avoid working with such a person, particularly if another option existed. If you were to learn to work as a member of a team (something I myself have some trouble with) and avoid abusive language, you may have more success in the future. I certainly hope you do. Wikipedia has always welcomed those who seek to bring substantial contributions, and I hope it always will. Badbilltucker 19:57, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

Regurding your comments about Wikipedia:WikiProject Sharks

It seems to me that you are acting in an uncivil manner. Please remain civil and don't resort to making personal attacks or instigate edit wars. Betacommand 19:30, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

Happy now

No, I'm not happy, and if you blame me I do not know what to say, I have been trying to avoid this for a very long time, I knew at the start that this was what was going to happen if we did not join, but I did not want to force it because then you would probably react the way you do now, I hoped you would join 'my' project and help make good articles, I did NOT steal any members, the only member you had change his mind on his own when he saw ho you acted, I had NOTHING to do with it!!! Learn to read the logs, I have been VERY carefull not to ever treat you in a bad way, I have tried to follow wikipedia rules and policies, I did not dare to make 'my' project public since I though that it might be deleted because I had only me as a member, I did not dare to put boxes on talk pages since other users might object for a small project. You did all of this and still got away with it, it is ONLY becuase of your abusive manner that this is happening, the sharks project have tried to deal with this directly with you, but it have not worked and people have started aksing why there are two user boxes and so on, that is really YOUR fault. I think you should take a long wikibreak and think about what you did and what I did and wonder who is to blame for this. Sorry but I have not even voted and I will not do that since I think I'm part of the case which means that if your project is not deleted 'mine' should be. Also you project is not deleted yet, it is just proposed for deletion, argue if you think you are right.

Also please do not make personal attacks! It is not very nice!!!

And I'm not sure how you can ask me to say Good Bye after calling me weird, calling me names and claiming that I steal from you, but if that is what you want of course I say Good Bye! Good luck! Have fun! Bye Bye! Stefan 00:49, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

Does this only cover the LU or does it also include the Glasgow Underground? Seperate systems but also identified as the "underground". Simply south 09:31, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

I thought i'd take up your offer. I will try my best etc. (In future, if possible if it is not taken do you think the above title would be good as a shortcut? I'm not sure how to do it................. btw i do know how to do a redirect page however. ) Simply south 22:23, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

Well i thought i would try anyway. It is WP:Under. Simply south 10:12, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

And WP:U redirects to Userboxes so whoops

I've been away for a little while but iw will become active again. Simply south 10:45, 23 September 2006 (UTC)

Btw, it is one of the main aims of the WikiProject to expand and do other tasks to the systems mentioned, so it is really needed to put under the to do list, as i have done so. Please say whats wrong with this when you get back... Simply south 21:43, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

What type of font face is "Underground"? Is it like "Times New Roman"? :) Simply south 19:31, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

Hi Lenny -you might think about listing your project at Wikipedia:WikiProject/List_of_proposed_projects - might help drum up some members. Couple of things I noticed: Your image on the right hand side of the project box on the talk pages sticks out of the box. Also, you have missed the "r" in Underground in the introduction on the project. Yomanganitalk 09:56, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

I wish you good luck with this project. I also live in london and use the underground a lot, and find it interesting too. Have a look at Wikipedia:WikiProject Trains they have a lot of members that i am sure would be interested in joining; and they seem to have a few subprojects which if you listed yours would get a lot of notice. You seem to be interested in public transport and trains from looking at your homepage so i hope this goes well. I regret the Sharks thing getting to this. No hard feelings? Good luck. --chris_huh 10:34, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

Hi Lenny, thanks for the greets. I've put together the tables to help with working out which stations still need pics and infobox data to help us and anyone else who wants to join in. I'll probably work on those bits mainly to start, 'cause I'm not a techy trains person so I can't really contribute much to the rolling stock and other technical data bits without spending time on further research. Let me know if there's anything else you think we should work on at the start... :) - HTUK 10:54, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

How strange

Sure, no hard feelings, but I did not ever stop anyone from joining 'your' project. I worked for a merge! Stefan 13:18, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

Name of Underground project

Hello. We are in the process of developing what we hope will be a comprehensive listing of all the extant WikiProjects. Your project will of course be included, probably in the section of the Directory at Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Directory/History and society. Having looked at the names of the other projects in the "Transportation" section, it looks like every other project that relates to a specific area has that area's name located in the name of the project. Perhaps you would like to put in your project's name as well, perhaps you wouldn't. If yes, I think "London Underground", "British Underground", or something similar might be enough. I don't know and, having never lived in London, don't know if changing the name would complicate identification of the project in any way. That decision is entirely yours to make. I am still in the process of finding all the older, poorly known projects and getting them ready for inclusion on the list. I hope to get them all included in the near future, and yours at the same time. Please advise me of your decision so I can enter it in under the name you wish. P.S. If you wish your project to be identified with any particular existing or projected portal, like maybe Portal:Trains, please let me know that as well. Thank you for your attention. Badbilltucker 14:43, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

No hard feelings

Sorry for the conflict we had in the past. I still dont like all the no-info stubs but I shouldn't have done what I done. No hard fealings? Lenny 11:08, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

No hard feelings.--sonicKAI 20:26, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the welcome. I've actually spent the last few month trying to bring some shape to WikiProject London - in particular the transport parts. I'm glad someone took the initiative to create this sub-project - the alternative was lots of subpages to WP:Lon! I've added some links to WP:Under from the WP:Lon main page - hopefully we'll get some co-operation between the two. DJR (T) 13:13, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

Box-header

Just copy the code from here: [1] to a new page : [2]. Do the same with the box-footer. You can then change the colours to whatever you like. You might also think about adding your project to the Wikipedia:Community Portal page to drum up some members (although it looks pretty popular already) Yomanganitalk 16:45, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

Sorry, I was on Stefan's talk page, and mistook it for mine - but the answer is right anyway. Yomanganitalk 16:48, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

WikiProject Underground

Thanks for the welcome! I'll try and do some more nameboards when I get the chance. Oggy 16:47, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

Can you please tell me how would one go about joining the underground project? I ask as I have been working on my own trying to add as much info as I could. I was thinking it would be great if there was a project such as this, I am glad someone did it! Jsp3970 01:24, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

Hi. I was just wondering why you've decided to abandon the nameboard project? Thanks. Oggy 16:10, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

Ok, thanks for starting it up again. It might work this time! Oggy 15:41, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

Living in Canada there is not much I can do in the photograph of stations part for the project. My main interest is in the history of the rolling stock. Is there anything I can do to the various pages on rolling stock? Jsp3970 04:46, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

I in no way thought you were singling me out. I just wanted to advise you of the difficulty I have in doing some of the items on the to do list. I am indeed adding information to the various stock pages and am working on an information box that gives some technical details of the stock. Right now only two pages have had this added, the London Underground 1960 Stock and the London Underground 1967 Stock pages. Please feel free to let me know what you think of them. WikiProject Heraldry and vexillology

Since you are interested in flags and emblems I would like to inform you that the WikiProject Heraldry and vexillology has just been created. Why not take a look? I hope you can join.Inge 20:08, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

How strange (2)

I do not know! check the history of the template and check how it was done, I did not change it and do not know! People do not have unlimited time, you can not expect people to edit every day, some people work 1-2 days and then do nothing for a week. They will come back. Stefan 13:22, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

Heading up WP:Underground

Hi! Thanks for passing the reins of the project over to me while you take a break - I'm flattered. I have to warn you that I may not be able to contribute a huge amount myself in the next week however, as I'm back at work fulltime as of tomorrow, Monday 25 (I work in a uni and term is getting underway)

I'll do my best to continue to steadily add to the parts I've been working on lately (primarily ensuring every station has at least 1 pic for the infobox), and am planning to do passing 'tours' of more Zone 1 & 2 stations with my camera, as I'll be in the centre of town every day once back at work.

I try to keep a daily eye on the project pages too. Any suggestions of steps you think I might try to help you get more people on board (or more who can contribute in areas not covered, or on a more regular basis)? I'm pretty new to the projects and collaborative edits side of things at Wikipedia.

Thanks again, and hope you are able to return with 'batteries recharged' after your break. Don't feel discouraged that the project seems to be making slow progress - as long as it keeps ticking over and we can maybe keep promoting it I think it will eventually all come together! - HTUK 10:34, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

Ok now I'm really confused with the situation here... but hey, whatever. I'll just keep on assisting as I can. Last couple of days have been hectic as expected at work, so I've only been able to do some minor edits here and there (starting with the general structure for station articles) and not been able to get out and about to take snapshots, but as I said I reckon every little helps, so I'll keep chipping away at things... Image:I AM WIKIPEDIAs UNISOUTH.PNG listed for deletion

An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, Image:I AM WIKIPEDIAs UNISOUTH.PNG, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please look there to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Nv8200p talk 00:00, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

Some old images of yours

A number of images uploaded by you that aren't used anywhere were tagged for speedy deletion by an anon. While they don't meet any criterion for speedy deletion, it's clear they're not being used, and will probably not be used at any point in the near future. I suggested the anon take them to WP:IFD, but I thought I would check with you and see if you agree to their deletion, to make things easier. The images are:

  1. Image:Article featured by lenny.PNG
  2. Image:Article featured by lenny.PNG

  5. Image:UNISOUTH IN SPAIN.PNG
  6. Image:WIKI USERPAGE 2005.PNG
  7. Image:This article was created by unisouth.PNG

Let me know on my talk page if you agree to their deletion, and I'll delete them (or just tag them with {{db-g7}}.) If you don't agree, no need to say anything, just add them to your watch list in case they get nominated. Mangojuicetalk 19:37, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

OK, done. Thanks! Mangojuicetalk 12:54, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

Ballerina

You put the word 'to' twice. A tutu is a ballerina's dress (I hope i spelt that correctly). The reason for the brief link to ballerina (unless i forgot to remove it) is that i hoped i was spelling it correctly to put in as a humourous remark in the edit summary. Simply south :)

I hope i wasn't or am not causing any offence. Simply south 17:22, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

Underground Connect problem

It is that where it is placed it leaves a giant white gap to the left of the template in some articles. Simply south 17:15, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

I haven't done anything to the template. My example is London Underground rolling stock. Simply south 17:21, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

Profile template

I think it makes a more interesting addition to the WikiProject (than i've seen on others). Is it to be required if they want to by other members? Sorry for the rather late reply. Simply south 22:19, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

Again, the LUL livery / car images

I sent you a message on 22 June 2006 regarding the LUL car images which you have uploaded. I said there that "Your liveried LUL trains you have released under the GPL license are in fact, copyrighted by LUL. I know of various people working at TfL and LUL and they have seen no valid permission for you to take the images. While it could be seen as fair use, I personally believe that a picture of the trains would be sufficient." Please take action regarding this, thanks!! Tubechallenger 19:37, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

Certainly mate, I'll have a go at creating a new logo in the next few days Tubechallenger 23:34, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

Wikiproject BBC

Hi there, I wish to add myself to the BBC Wikiproject and wish you luck with the project. If you wish, I can make up some kind of userbox (as I did with the British TV Wikiproject) and then host it in my personal userspace. --tgheretford (talk) 16:02, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your comments on my user page and for the userbox, it looks so cool! Just a minor question not covered on the project page, will the Wikiproject cover just the corporation or the programmes produced by the corporation as well, or will BBC programmes be covered by a child wikiproject? --tgheretford (talk) 10:46, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

Userpage

Hmm, headscratcher regarding the problems you are having, I need to go offline for a bit, bit I shall see and try and help fix some of the problems you are having later on. I don't think much needs to be done, it looks fine as I can tell. Let me know what else needs doing. --tgheretford (talk) 12:13, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

Wikiproject Brighton

Thanks for your welcome - not late at all. I don't feel very confident in something like redesigning a project page but am willing to help with any boring and routine tasks that you could allocate - but I might be a bit erratic about it. Best wishes. Itsmejudith 12:34, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

Website?

Although I'm not sure as to specific definitions, and am thus probably in no place to say conclusively one way or another, I would assume it would probably that wikipedia would probably be described more as a "portal" than a website. While I have your attention, I do question the value of a portal for shark movies right now. There honestly aren't that many shark movies out there, there really aren't that many articles that are primarily tied to the subject (many, if not most, achieved prominence through other work as well), and most of them are from some time ago, so there's probably not a lot of interest in getting a lot of up-to-date information on a subject which is, well, kinda inactive. Also, there already is a very prominent portal dealing with the movie industry which could, if it's like most other portals, get as much help as possible. I am not trying to talk you out of the portal per se, simply asking you if there is really enough potential material dealing with the subject to justify the creation and maintenance of one. And, one last point. If you honestly want to communicate with people and get anything done here, it would probably be best not to insult them from the word go, as you seemingly have a habit of doing. It tends to alienate them, and, for someone who is trying to recruit as many members for as many projects as you are, that may not necessarily be a good tactic. Badbilltucker 13:36, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

Unacceptable, Childish Personal Attacks

A few points. If you do not have time to actively manage projects yourself, then there is a serious question whether the project should be created at all, as just about every project requires at least one person to handle the regular activity. I am finding this out myself in regards to the project on Germany I just recently proposed. Lastly, I have never been "on your case". Your behavior has however, been completely unacceptable by the wikipedia standards of "no personal attacks", misuse of wikipedia space for purely personal content, etc., and has actually gotten the attention of several people. I, however, was one who contacted you more directly, because I have been the one primarily working on the project directory, and I need to know which projects are out there to make sure it is complete. Actually, if you were to check on the majority of my recent edits, you would know that. Please do not blame the messenger for bearing a message. Frankly, if I wanted to delete your shark films project or portal, I could propose it's deletion right now on the basis of the reasons I have already cited. I actually have no intention of doing so. Also, considering some of your own comments about them, something to the effect that you hoped they would all die out within fifteen years, there is serious question as to whether you are really interest in the subject, or are just trying to become a prominent figure in as many projects as possible, which is a question I arrived at by looking at your user page. Improving the content, not multiplication of projects, is the fundamental goal here. And you are well advised to cease these pointless, childish, personal attacks and other irrational comments of yours. I sincerely doubt that they are doing your case any good, they may actively dissuade people from joining your projects who otherwise might have joined, and, if they should continue, may well result in some form of disciplinary action. Frankly, to me you are, right now, just another little annoyance which is keeping me from being able to focus on my own goals. I have no more interest in attacking you than in swatting any other metaphorical annoying little flea. Badbilltucker 14:03, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

Irrational beliefs

I have no intention of deleting the project, and never have. Nor have I ever been attacking you. I was pointing out how your own conduct falls well short of the standards of conduct required here, and how, if continued, could result in disciplinary action. An attack occurs without provocation, and your own behavior has certainly been provacative enough. Now, it is at least verging on the irrational. I was initially communicating with you because I thought that you might be able to improve your conduct in such a way as to actively draw more people to your projects. Frankly, I would have preferred never having any contact with you whatsoever, but the situation called for my doing so. Right now, however, I have no reason whatsoever to have anything to do with you, and, if you choose to continue your current irrational conduct, I may be forced to seek some more formal way of ending it. Good day, and, I hope, Goodbye. Badbilltucker 14:14, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

What I hope is my final response to you

If you want to start a new message, then generally indicating the subject of the message is seen as appropriate. However, I have a number of things I am trying to do today, and continuing this unnecessary discussion is not high on that list. I have no intention of having any contact with you beyond what is probably in the best interest of wikipedia, and I hope that you will respect that view. Good day. Badbilltucker 14:22, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

BBCmemberwelcome

I've moved this to the template namespace, at {{BBCmemberwelcome}}. This makes it possible to transclude and subst the template, which I don't think you can do with the main namespace. That said, BBCmemberwelcome is now a cross namespace redirect, and thus will need to be deleted. Thanks. —Scott5114 14:49, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. Your contributions make Wikipedia better -- thanks for helping.

If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please tell me on SuggestBot's talk page. Thanks from ForteTuba, SuggestBot's caretaker.

P.S. You received these suggestions because your name was listed on the SuggestBot request page. If this was in error, sorry about the confusion. -- SuggestBot 12:23, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

Noticed that you have marked the project as abandoned. Request information as to whether you want to have the project, and possibly the portal, deleted or not. If you do, simply add the speedy delete tag specified on Wikipedia:Speedy deletion#Requeting speedy deletion. However, be advised that your statement indicating your irrational belief that I wanted the project deleted is clearly in error. I simply called into question whether a separate project and portal for such a small group of films is really a great idea. If you wish the project and portal deleted, request such yourself. Personally, like I said, I have no more or less interest in this project than in any other project that exists. If you wish to respond to this, please respond civilly at my user page. Badbilltucker 17:56, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

Just for purposes of clarity. I am not an administrator. As such, I have no specific ability to delete the project, nor would I want to if you were honestly trying to develop the subject without getting into conflict with any other group. The project is not in conflict with any other group (as it addresses a specific set of films within the larger field, it is as it were a "daughter" project, not a competitor), and so the reasons for deleting the other project do not apply here. By the way, I would call to your attention that several other people expressed even more "vocal" objections to the dual project than I did. The only thing I could do would be to list it for deletion, possibly requesting a speedy deletion on the basis of your last comment. But I have no reason to "kill" your work here. The project is listed on the draft version of the project directory that I hope will be finished in the next day or so and substituted for the existing version. I will only remove the listing if the project is deleted at someone else's request. The call, as it were, is entirely yours to make, and I have no particular animosity toward you in any way, shape, or form. However, given that I am in the process of dealing with roughly 1000 existing projects for the directory, neither do I have any particular reason to wish to communicate with any of them any more than necessary, given the fact that I do not have unlimited time. I wish both you and your projects the best of good fortune, even this one if you choose to keep it. But, again, that decision is entirely yours to make. Badbilltucker 20:17, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

A new rapid transit portal

I just saw the extensive work that you did on Portal:Tube and I will say it clear, I envy you. However I do wish to start a rapid transit portal myself. Based on Metro systems in the Former USSR. Template:Rapid transit in the former Soviet Union. I have already managed to do a considerable amount of work in that field User:Kuban kazak/Metro and have a few fellow users who would agree to follow. The reason I come to you is to ask what is it that I need and how best to start the portal off? Also you might take this for the London tube articles as well, have a look at how we formatted the line and station articles (take Kiev Metro for example and follow through to a station). Regards--Kuban Cossack 21:16, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

Why are you abandoning the Project????

I was just trying to write a talk page template. It's a steep learning curve for me, but I have just spent an hour on it and I felt I was getting somewhere. I was trying to use WikiProject Bristol as an example. They have a better project page than us, but they have a lot fewer articles. Next I was going to volunteer to go through some of the most important articles on B&H, looking for prolific contributors and inviting them to join the project. But all in vain!!! ;-(

Already removed. Itsmejudith 08:57, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
Have a look at what I've done, when you have a minute. Sometimes the template works OK, sometimes the image floats over the text. If you could check it out (and I don't have strong feelings about the wording or anything), then I can gradually add it to pages and then more people will hear about the project and perhaps some will join. I never thought I would be able to create a banner like that, even one that only works sometimes, so thanks for allowing me the sense of achievement. Itsmejudith 10:26, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

Revised template

Yes, I really like it. And in future I am going to remember that it goes on the talk page. And the project membership is up by 50% :-) I am going to make one tweak to the wording and take off the BBC mention, which I think crept in from your other interests. Itsmejudith 13:38, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

Auto-rickshaw

Hi Unisouth. Great idea to have a collaboration of the month; really moves the project forward. I saw that WikiProject Bristol have a photography competition. Re the Auto-rickshaw article: did you notice that there is also an article tuk tuk that carries some information about the Brighton scheme. Since there is already a proposal for merger on Auto-rickshaw I thought I would consult you before proposing merger of Auto-rickshaw and tuk tuk. But it is something to consider. What do you think? Image tagging for Image:1995_stock_driver_car.PNG

Thanks for uploading Image:1995_stock_driver_car.PNG. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

Merger of tuk tuk and autorickshaw

Yes and I agree that autorickshaw should be the article title. If you could put up the notices, that would be good. I won't be able to edit much till the weekend. Itsmejudith 10:34, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

Proposed projects

I see you are thinking of starting a couple more projects. The way you seem to do that is to work really hard over a couple of days to get it started, and you go straight into Wikipedia space. Have a read of Wikipedia:WikiProject and Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Guide to find out the best way to start a project. You should really make a proposal at Wikipedia:WikiProject/List of proposed projects before making it directly into Wikipedia: space. First the project should start in your userspace, if it might be a smallish project. Either way you should propose it first. This prevents you doing loads of work on creating a project just to find that either one is already in existence (as what seemed to happen with Sharks) or that there are not enough people interested, or the topic is not needing a project (as with Shark films).

It seems a bit of a waste for you to spend days on a project just to find that it is not needed, and will be deleted. It puts load on the Wikipedia servers and obviously wastes your time.

The same thing relates to portals, you have made some good portals, like Tube, but then some portals arent necessary (look at Wikipedia:Portal).

Since you seem to be interested in making projects maybe you could have a look at Wikipedia:Community Portal, a couple of lines down lists projects that need help. Also look at Category:Inactive WikiProjects.

Leaving Wikiproject:Underground

Just to let you know I am leaving the Underground project. I am tired of another person, not a member of the project, continually coming along behind me and editing or redirecting all me work. I wish you all the best with the project and hope that someone else will be able to help. Jsp3970 17:44, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

Sorry to hear Jsp felt unable to stick around. I didn't know there was a situation going on there. No problems at my end, Uni - just busy at the mo, as I said a few weeks ago. Won't have much time until nearer the end of term in late Nov/early Dec I'm afraid. - HTUK 18:33, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
After thinking it over I have decided to return, I am not going to let one person ruin things, no matter how annoying they are with their edits. I have re-inserted myself with in the members list. Jsp3970 02:01, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

User boxes

Haven't you gone a bit over the top with the userboxes on your user page?! Is this many realy necessary. Think of the poor people without broadband yet.

Also, were you the same "Unisouth" that got banned from the "Uni-link" passenger forum? As I did too, for no reason whatsoever.

Sorry, I forgot to: (Arriva436 16:10, 30 October 2006 (UTC)) 16:09, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

hey - that's a lot of userboxes. Glad I could be of assistance by increasing the number of mine whilst borrowing from your pile - ~Superbfc 22:18, 2 November 2006 (UTC)~

I know that this isn't what this page is for, but the news article (on Uni-link's site) above the one about the forum closing was one about the RSS feed being reintroduced, by popular demand...on the forum...!

Orphaned fair use image (Image:ITV HD super.png)

Thanks for uploading Image:ITV HD super.png. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. Beeb

I like your design: WP_BBC_Logo.PNG but my eye is drawn to that little green bar. Did you know that there was a grey version of that little box too - I seem to remember from the style-sheet of the time - but can't for the life of me remember if it was the entire logo or just the red, green & blue underlines (methinks the latter). Anyway, that green could be grey, if you wish as there is a precedence.... Zir 14:44, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

Trawling the BBC website today, I found: http://www.bbc.co.uk/commissioning/tvbranding/usage.shtml It's really meant for programme credits, but useful to the group. I'm making enquiries about using logos which are Beeb copyright, in the meantime the old logo can be found under Image:BBC_Logo_pre_1997.gif Zir 20:03, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

Gosport Ferry

I see you've moved the article back to Gosport Ferry Company Ltd. But - there's no such thing as the "Gosport Ferry Company Ltd". The ferry is operated by the Portsmouth Harbour Ferry Company plc, as this sourced version [3] clearly showed. I cannot see any reason for the article to be located at a restrictive and incorrectly named location where a simpler one is available in accordance with Wikipedia:Naming conventions. Is there some reason why you think the article should be restricted to one (non-existent) company, when it would have clearly more scope to grow and develop if it were about the whole entity? DWaterson 09:35, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

As you say, the website gosportferry.co.uk is currently down, so is therefore not a reliable or usable source. However, the website of Falkland Islands Holdings clearly states that the ferry is operated through a 100% shareholding in a company called The Portsmouth Harbour Ferry Company PLC.[4] Irrespective of that, the article name doesn't conform to Wikipedia naming conventions where a simpler alternative exists. I suggest a requested move so that a vote can be taken. DWaterson 10:27, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

Move

I have moved the article Gosport Ferry Company Ltd to Gosport Ferry per the consensus. Unfortunately, Unisouth, you did a cut-paste move earlier, which doesn't comply with the GDFL as the page history is lost. In future, use the "Move" tab to preserve page histories. See WP:MOVE. Re: Move

I think that message was intended for Martinp23 (talk · contribs) :) Cheers, Daniel.Bryant T · C ] 09:07, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

Hi - even if a page exists where you want to move to, you can't just do at cut and paste move. This is strictly forbidden by wikipedia policy, as it infringes upon the GDFL. If a page exists, you must get an administrator involved to do it for you. This is what I did when I moved the page back to its current location. It is important to follow the consensus on wikipedia, and the conventions (WP:NC (CN)) - and there is a clear consensus on the talk page of the article. Please do not do a cut-paste move again, or you will recieve a block. Martinp23 10:18, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
Please stop. If you continue to make personal attacks on other people, you will be blocked for disruption. Comment on content, not on other contributors or people. Thank you. Martinp23 10:18, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
Please don't remove messages from your talk page, as it goes against wiki-etiquette, and is impolite anyway. You should only do so if arhiving to a well advertised place, with a meaningful system (ie - old messages get archived first. Thanks Martinp23 15:17, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
I've fixed the link - thanks for alerting me to it. As you removed the uncivil comment made against me, I'm going to WP:AGF and not take action, though in reference to your comments there, please understand that wikipedia is a wiki, and that means anyone can edit it - no-one owns an article. We have to follow consensus here - just because you started an article, doesn't mean that you can control what happens in it. Please attempt discussion on the talk page rather than doing moves (if you disagree with the consensus). I also urge you to study WP:NPA Martinp23 15:26, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

Auto Rickshaw article

Hi Unisouth,

I have made some additions to the Auto Rickshaw article tonight, as per the current collaboration in the Brighton WikiProject. Unfortunately, I couldn't get the Cite.php referencing to work (having tried to add a third reference to http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/southern_counties/6114824.stm, as you will see in the text), and I must go to bed now (full day of work ahead; train goes in 7½ hours!). Could I ask you to take a look and fix it for me. I'll try to learn this style of referencing next time I get some free time on Wikipedia. Thanks! Regards, Hassocks5489 00:06, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

BBC2 Idents Article

I recently made a page about the BBC2 idents shown between 1991 and 2001, but I need some advice on the pictures.

I know how to upload them, but do I need some sort of permission to use them, as I want to avoid breaking any copyright issues? What do you advise I do when uploading the picture? Regards:- Psychic Potato 14:42, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

Hi. I noticed that you created Portal:Brighton and several associated pages a month or so ago. Since then, it doesn't seem to have been maintained. Do you have plans to finish it? As it stands now, it's rather incomplete and probably needs to be either completed or deleted. BigDT 02:55, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

Portal.svg

From which discussion have you made this assertion? This seems to be the only template still using the gif. ed g2stalk 14:07, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

What a ridiculous thing to say. It may be your opinion that the GIF looks better, but that by no means makes it "final". It seems quite the opposite, in that 99% of the other portal links are using the SVG. Decisions are made by the community. ed g2stalk 12:26, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
I can't believe you just said that. Just because you founded a project does not mean you own it. You do not own anything on Wikipedia. All decisions are community based. ed g2stalk 12:29, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
I'm sorry, you simply can't give yourself authority just because you "founded" a WikiProject. Wikipedia does not work like that. ed g2stalk 12:33, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Your attitude

Unisouth it seems to me that here you are not only being uncivil but your attitude is completely unacceptable for a wiki. I suggest you read WP:OWN, remember If you don't want your material to be edited mercilessly or redistributed by others, do not submit it and seriously rethink your attitude. Thank you Glen 13:01, November 23, 2006 (UTC)

Template:Tubeportalframeless

I note you have changed the image away from the standard portal jigsaw piece/keyhole image. This creates an untidy effect in infoboxes for combined tube and rail stations where the {{BRPortalframeless}} template is also transcluded (e.g. Gunnersbury station). Given that the use of the standard image is widespread across wikipedia, I feel it would be better to keep to the standard form. DavidCane 00:44, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

Show preview

Please use the show preview button before committing your edits. You still seem to be making groups of several edits in the space of less than a minute, which makes it much harder for other editors checking the history. ed g2stalk 12:13, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

Etiquette

While I agree with that, as I said, I was under the impression that, unlike the other parts, the bit about letting people off first was also a matter of law. Apparently, failing to let people off first is (or, at least, was in 1997) a criminal offence punishable by level 2 fine (up to £500, apparently). Chris cheese whine 10:09, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

LU rolling stock template

Just a thought but looking at the LU rolling stock template I have noticed a problem. There was stock that as taken over by the London Passenger Transport Board (LPTB) and never classified, (ex Met and GN&C stock). On the same note there is stock that is included on the template that never run for LPTB. This was the District A stock. What I am suggesting is something like this.

London Underground rolling stock

Sub-surface stock

Ex District Railway:

A - B - C - D - E - F - G - G23 - H - K - L

Ex Metroplitan Railway:

R (ex-Met) - S (ex-Met) - T - U

London Transport:

M - N - O - CO - P - P1 - CP - Q23 - Q27 - Q31 - Q35 - Q38
R38 - R47 - R49 - R59 - A60 - A62 - C69 - C77 - D78 - S

It will of course increase the size of the template. Think it over and let me know what you think. Jsp3970 23:19, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

Oh absolutely the Tube stock should be included, and would be. I did the above template just to show you what I was talking about, I figured that to include the whole template in you talk page would take too much room, and therefore unecessary. Sorry for the confusion! Jsp3970 14:52, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

Hi, I'm rather confused by your removal of a link to the London Underground portal and especially with your edit summary portal tube wil not be affiliated with this portal - Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, one article links to another, there are no affiliations. I've reverted to the last version with the link to the London Underground portal present, if you make any other changes, please drop a note on my talk page, it would be much appreciated. Kind Regards - Heligoland | Talk | Contribs 01:55, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

WPLU > WPTfL

What do you think of WPLondon Transport instead? - Tfl has connotations with the actual government run Transport for London and could cause confusion, not to mention it describes the projects activities in a roundabout way. Thanks, RHB 17:55, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

Wikiproject

Thanks for the offer of "your" Wikiproject. However, on Wikipedia, users do not have ownership of any content. This includes articles, user pages and wikiprojects. Wikiprojects run themselves very well with a critical mass of users, which the BBC project, being fairly redundant with a couple of other projects, already has. So the project will get along fine without you at the helm and without me taking your place. Still, thank you for thinking of me, I appreciate the thought. ЯEDVERS 21:13, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

AfD problems

I've recently found that since the creation of WikiProject London Transport that everyone is out to create their own bus article. None of them are done that well, including yours (no offence). These articles are:

  1. London Buses route RV1
  2. London Buses route T31
  3. London Buses route 157
  4. London Buses route 181
  5. London Buses route 130
  6. London Buses route 124
  7. London Buses route T33
  8. London buses route T32
  9. London Buses route C1
  10. London Buses route A10
  11. London Buses route 410
  12. London Buses route 312
  13. London Buses route 328
  14. London Buses route 202
  15. London Buses route 197
  16. London Buses route 196
  17. London Buses route 194
  18. London Buses route 28
  19. London Buses route 185
  20. London buses route 26
  21. London Buses route 91
  22. London Buses route 75

We need to stop people creating anymore bus articles until these are cleaned up, or we'll have more up for AfD --sonicKAI 02:57, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

If you remember you said in the to do box -
Convert each bus route to an article.
I followed the template to make the C1 and RV1 articles. These two routes are two of the most famous routes in London and the two to cause the most controversy. You can remove or add as much information to the articles as you like over time not straight away. If it is because the infobox is not filled properly then I am sorting it out now, I just need those last few details. It would also be helpful if you can tell me what garages C1 and RV1 operate from as the Travel London and First London don't tell me, you could sort these out to. Thank you for your concern. Unisouth 09:39, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
The articles you've done don't look as bad as the others that have recently been created (181, 130, 157), but we need to work on these before creating new ones. There are currently 2 active AfDs on articles because that have not been done that well.--sonicKAI 14:19, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
P.S. C1 is operated out of Walworth Road and RV1 is operated out of Hackney.--sonicKAI 14:19, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
