Stargate Confusing Rights Debacle

I am confused on who owns what in the stargate franchise:

Carolco Pictures sold off the rights to the film during production, what i cannot figure out is either to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer or StudioCanal or to Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich?

I do know that Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich gave the rights to the franchise to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer when they were working on their 1996 film Independence Day.

MGM retains the domestic television rights. The rights to the Stargate film are owned by StudioCanal, with Lions Gate Entertainment handling most distribution in international theatrical and worldwide home video releases, although Rialto Pictures handles domestic distribution under license from StudioCanal.

Can anyone please clear this mess up?

here is what i propose

Devlin and Emmerich gave the rights to the franchise to MGM when they were working on their 1996 film Independence Day, and MGM retains the domestic television rights. The rights to the Stargate film are owned by StudioCanal, the company who took over and finished production after they bought the rights to the film from carolco with Lions Gate Entertainment handling most distribution in international theatrical and worldwide home video releases, although Rialto Pictures handles domestic distribution under license from StudioCanal. can anyone please add this to the article?

Predominant Story Arc

Previously it said: "The predominant story arc thus ran on television for 15 years, including 17 seasons (354 episodes) of programming, and 8 comic book issues as of July 2017." This doesn't include Stargate Origins and leaves out 14 comics by American Mythology Productions. More accurate would be: "The predominant story arc thus ran on television for more than 15 years, including 18 seasons (364 episodes) of programming, and 22 comic book issues as of January 2020." Added title "Interesting Facts"

Hi Wikipedians,

I added the title "Interesting Facts" and noted one interesting fact about frequent references to the Wizard of Oz in the Stargate series. I added a link to fandom, specifically Stargate fandom, because it is the only link that has probably noted that fact. I personally have seen all the episodes and know the lines are true.
