Neutrality[edit]

I put the neutrality tag on this page. The references appear to be excellent, however opening an article by calling someone a failure seems like a bit of an attack. Just being prudent since it is a BLP. Someone (other than the article author) should verify the claims and to correct the tone on the intro HappyValleyEditor (talk) 20:42, 20 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

There is a reason why I placed three references after the sentence "During Shih's tenure as FSC chairman, the Rebar Chinese Bank filed for bankruptcy protection, which caused a bank run that led to NT$19 billion in losses and eventual government takeover of the financial institution." The article's second reference states "On Friday night, Shih Jun-ji (施俊吉) unexpectedly announced he was stepping down as chairman of the Financial Supervisory Commission, in the wake of bank runs triggered by the snowballing Rebar Group scandal" in its opening paragraph. The third reference used says "Shih Jun-ji (施俊吉) resigned as FSC chairman on Friday night over the Rebar scandal." The fifth reference listed reads "Hu is the fourth chairman of the commission and follows Shih Jun-ji (施俊吉), who resigned earlier this month. Shih tendered his resignation after a run on Rebar-linked The Chinese Bank (中華銀行)."
I think the phrasing I used avoids copyvio while stating the facts. It also appears to be a standard way of maintaining neutrality, see Kuomintang chairmanship election, 2015 for an example. If my interpretation is wrong and there is a better way to do things, I'd like to know. Vycl1994 (talk) 21:21, 20 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I Hear what you are saying and I have no doubts about your good intentions! I also appreciate your high quality editing and references. It does appear that she was responsible for these things, and the references are there. My thought is simply that someone other than you or I should take a look at the intro to confirm.HappyValleyEditor (talk) 21:47, 20 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
PS: Why not move the "responsibility for run" sentence to the career section, under a new subsection on "Bank run of..."? I think it would be a very fair portrayal then. Also, have a look at the page on Caitlyn Jenner. She was implicated in a car crash that killed someone, and that info is not in the lede. What I'm saying is that perhaps we should not condemn in the lede-- unless it is very very clear, as in a criminal like Bernie Madoff.HappyValleyEditor (talk) 21:55, 20 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The lede for Jenner lists what makes her notable, namely, her athletic pursuits (the first paragraph, at least). I believed that what was written here served the same purpose for Shih, as the reason he has a page is because he fulfills WP:NPOLITICIAN, and I thought that his accession to and departure from office would be important to summarize.
Now that I have reformatted the article, I'm worried that some may see it as excessive sectioning. Oh well. This is a wiki, after all! Vycl1994 (talk) 22:33, 20 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
