Regimental motto[edit]

Some translations give Faithful in Adversity; as a RAMC soldier it was "drummed" into us as recruits while learning Corps history that the motto was "Steadfast in adversity". That came from the depot RSM, whose position made him the senior RSM in the Corps. I've therefore taken his transliteration as being the more reliable.82.10.32.245 10:36, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

VC Holders[edit]

The confusion comes from the "Netley VC" which the museum holds, which was never gazetted, but is included in their figures. People assume it was awarded to a soldier, it wasn't, it was buried in the foundations of Netley Hospital. Also, I believe that the bars are included in the recipients total, and no list of recipients by unit can be definitive as some units claim recipients who were attached to them. As far as I am aware, and per the source, it now seems to be comprehensive. Woody (talk) 19:41, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
From a quick look at TNA's register there are six further medical staff who were awarded the VC but who were members of (British) Indian, Canadian or Australian medical units. Henry John Andrews, Bellenden Seymour Hutcheson, Neville Howse, Arthur Fitzgibbon (for some reason the article is under Andrew Fitzgibbon??), Harry Frederick Whitchurch and John Crimmin. However the most likely explanation for the discrepancy is the two bars warded to medics. David Underdown (talk) 09:38, 1 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Doctors are always officers, but not all officers are doctors, some are nurses and what could be termed administrators. They progress up the ranks more or less the same as in other branches of the military but also have to progress medically to attain the higher ranks. Badge colours[edit]

Are the colours of the badge in the illustration accurate? Have they changed over time? Most WW1 era colour versions I can see online have the snake in green (or perhaps yellow).
