S.O.S[edit]

Cut across the hills on December 15th 2006 to avoid gridlock on the M50 and found myself in snow! While that is fairly common for Sally Gap in Winter the weather had been extremely mild right up to the night before; so it was rather unexpected. After taking the photos I reckoned it was time to write a page on The Military Road!

HELP!![edit]

I have tried upload a brief video; I converted it to abc.ogg format (successfully, as per instructions [HERE]) but when I click on it I can't play it!

Anyone got an Idiot's Guide on how to get '.AVI' format video to play in Wiki without having to understand the maths in the Special Theory of Relativity?

Km - Mi conversion.[edit]

Error with starting location?[edit]

--This is not completely true. The start of the Military Road was not as described here. It started in Rockbrook, just off the R116, and went through Massy's Wood, joining Stocking Lane/R115 near the current location of Timbercraft. From there, it coincided with the R115.--

I remember reading (long time ago) that it started in Rathfarnham at the Yellow House. This [1] reference (from the article) says it starts "in Rathfarnham". Sarah777 (talk) 19:04, 14 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I can't offer any definitive statement as to where the road started, but it certainly ran through Rockbrook on the R116, turned left at Cruagh Cemetery along Cruagh Lane and ran through Massy's Estate, joining Sotkcing Lane/R115 at the current entrance to Massy's Wood just north of the Hell Fire Club Woods car park. This route is clearly marked on the "Dublin Mountains" map (Dublin Mountains Partnership). - Gnomon 18-Mar-2015

There was and is a Military Road in Dublin leading to the south side of Heuston/Kingsbridge station but is is also noteworthy. I remember it led to a westerly placed platform that was often reserved for soldier trains to keep separate from regular trains. (I recall or perhaps misrecall it came from a Barracks).
