"Routes" on the hundreds[edit]

I'm having trouble finding it again, but within the Counties exist two roads (that I've seen on a map, anyway) that are just called "Route 500" and "Route 600". They don't seem to be county roads, and I'm not sure where within Prescott and Russell they are? Just curious the jurisdiction. Anybody live out there or elsewhere in ON and can explain?
