Final Mix

Anyone know if Final Mix was released in America?—Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.160.155.132 (talkcontribs)

I don't think so. Wasn't it only in Japan? I remember reading about it somewhere... Yuanchosaan 05:28, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
No, Japan only…—ウルタプ 05:29, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
How can you be so sure. I'm sure that loads of people around the world will want to play the remakes and it will be a big budget boost. JoshuaMD 11:05 28th March 2007 (GMT)
Well, the Final Mix for the first game was certainly Japan-only, and that was the question, wasn't it?—ウルタプ 13:32, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

Well, none the less, it should be ported over to Europe and America. JoshuaMD 13:09 30th March 2007 (GMT)

From what I gathered, Final Mix is essentially the US version ported into Japan. Am I wrong about this? --156.56.154.9 01:16, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

It's the English voice track and the NA added features and then some more extra stuff. Canonical stuff I might add, which makes it kind of sad.—ウルタプ 01:22, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

That is correct. Final Mix was basically just the English version of the game. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Magicallydajesus (talkcontribs)

Wii & Nintendo Gamecube versions

Are there any such versions of the game in existence/development at the moment? Hellcat fighter 04:10, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

No, and I'm quite sure there never will be...nevertheless that's just speculation....— Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.20.226.113 (talk)

Keyblade

Why doesn't the Keyblade have it's own article?--Tempest115 23:51, 10 May 2007 (UTC)

Someone's already spoken about that (somewhat). Look above a couple of sections. DiamondDragon contact 00:06, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

Expanding sections

Hello, I was wondering if there were some users out there that could maybe assist with the expansion of this Kingdom Hearts article. I've been spending the past week trying to cite and expand sections as best I can, but I've run into a few walls that I was hoping others might be able to help with.

  • The development section is missing information on any actual development of the game itself. There's some info in the Kingdom Hearts (series)#Development section, but it isn't cited. If anyone can find some developer interviews about the game that could be sourced, that would help expand that section.
  • The manga section is missing information on the Japanese publication/serialization.
  • There are a few statements that I tagged as citation needed that I wasn't able to find any sources for. Admittedly, I wasn't specifically looking for those information, but nothing came up in my general searches.
  • I'm currently trying to find the proper in-game dialog to cite some of the information in the setting and story sections. If any body would like to help, it would be appreciated.
  • One last thing, if anybody can get information from or has the Kingdom Hearts Ultimania, Kingdom Hearts Ultimania Revised Edition, and/or Kingdom Hearts Series Ultimania α ~Introduction of Kingdom Hearts II~, that could help expand and source the "Development" and "Versions and merchandise" sections.

I'll keep trying to find information as best I can, but I'm having a hard time finding the appropriate information in English, and my Japanese is limited. Any help would of course be appreciated, but if the list above can be addressed, I think it would greatly help in getting this article to "Good Article" status and hopefully eventually "Featured Article" status. (Guyinblack25 16:14, 17 May 2007 (UTC))

GameFAQs has a script and journal text. I can't help you much on the other stuff, as most of the interviews I find are only relevant to the later games and aren't sourced very well. I commend you for your efforts to make a good article. ' 17:08, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the game script link, that made getting the dialog much easier than trying to transcribe it from videos. I tired to find appropriate citations and I feel that the general story is cited well-enough, but others may disagree and add as they see fit.
I found a little bit of info for some things and added a reference for one item needing citation, but am still looking for the others.
After looking at the Kingdom Hearts#Setting section, I think it may need a rewrite. I think the people from the peer review will say that it is too much like game-guide information instead of encyclopedic material. I'll try to paraphrase the information there in a separate edit to make any reverts easier, in case other editors are unhappy with the result. (Guyinblack25 17:57, 18 May 2007 (UTC))
Great work overall. On "Setting", I wrote that section to emulate the style of Final Fantasy VII's section, but I don't mind your complete rewrite. ' 23:35, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the copy edit, I wasn't too happy with the rewrite I did, it looks better now. I edited the "Reception" section to create a table of the ratings so that way they weren't just listed one after another. If others think that it takes away from the article feel free to revert it.
I'm thinking of doing a rewrite of the "Characters" section, the first two paragraphs read more like gameplay information. There is also no mention of the villains. I'll do it in a separate edit again, in case it doesn't turn out well. (Guyinblack25 04:16, 21 May 2007 (UTC))
Wow, finally some work being done. Thanks, Guyinblack25, for initiating this. I've had this article on my "To FA" list for some time but I never really got around to it. Anyway, I think I'm going to give it a thorough copyedit before adding new stuff. Axem Titanium 19:15, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
Thanks. Please do, because I keep finding grammar edits or weird sentences after some of the rewrites I've done, I try to remember to fix them but they slip my mind. If you're looking for new content to add, there is obviously the list above, but I also think the introduction could use some expanding if the article is to make further. After you made your revisions to the article, perhaps we should send it to the peer review to see what else can be done. (Guyinblack25 19:57, 21 May 2007 (UTC))
Good plan. I just reworked the lead into three paragraphs like most FAs. Axem Titanium 21:05, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
Looks good, I've done about all I think of at the moment. So whenever you guys are done, we can request a peer review. (Guyinblack25 22:16, 21 May 2007 (UTC))

GA Pass

Let's see...

  • Well-written
  • Covers all areas of the game
  • Contains excellent sourcing
  • Has Fair-use rationales and proper tagging on the images

Yup, pass. So, when is this being put in for FA-class? Cheers, Lanky (YELL) 14:07, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

We made it to GA Status everyone. A lot of progress has been made on this article. Once we find more information on the development and do a thorough copy-edit, we can put it up for FA. Almost there. :-) (Guyinblack25 16:45, 29 May 2007 (UTC))
I'll definitely have more time to devote this weekend. Hang tight. Axem Titanium 21:26, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

New project

Wasn't there news of a new Kingdom Hearts project in Japan? Ithink they said it would be revealed on a game show or something.

Check out the Kingdom Hearts (series)#Future installments section on the series article. There are a few reference links you can check out for the news. It is set to be announced at the Tokyo Game Show, which is kind of like a Japanese E3. (Guyinblack25 14:46, 30 May 2007 (UTC))

Game development section

Just thought I'd throw an idea out there to the other editors. I've been hitting a good number of walls regarding gathering information on the development of the game, and I think that more game development info will greatly improve the chances of passing FA. After searching numerous game websites, even Japanese ones, I haven't come up with much more than the month development began. I'm waiting on the Kingdom Hearts Series Ultimania α ~Introduction of Kingdom Hearts II~ I ordered off of eBay, but as I stated before, my Japanese is limited and I'm not sure how much I can pull from it or if there will be anything worth pulling from.
Anyway, my proposal is to ask the Square Enix and Disney WikiProjects if they might have any info or access to other info we may have missed? Unless there are other editors here that can find anything to add to that section, I'm kinda out of ideas. Any thoughts? (Guyinblack25 15:58, 1 June 2007 (UTC))

I know a lot of Japanese. There is development information from various sites, such as IGN, Gamestop and Square Enix. Greg Jones II 02:53, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
I've gone through the News and Press releases on IGN, GameSpot, GamePro, Gamestop, and Square Enix. I've found about all I can think is useful. If you could search some Japanese sites that would be awesome. (Guyinblack25 03:19, 28 June 2007 (UTC))
The most useful sources would certainly be Kingdom Hearts Ultimania and Kingdom Hearts Ultimania Revised Edition. One has to go the trouble of getting them and then translating them, though. ' 03:54, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

Nominate for FA?

Well, I've done about all I can do right now with the article. What do you guys think about going for FA? At the very least they'll tell us what else we need to do. If other editors feel they can improve it further, we can hold off on nominating, otherwise I'd hate to just let this sit like this. Any thoughts? (Guyinblack25 17:13, 3 July 2007 (UTC))

This article is about ready. No turning back! Greg Jones II 17:02, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
I've now nominated it for FAC at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Kingdom Hearts. Greg Jones II 17:18, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
Any comments there should be appreciated very much. Good luck and thanks. Greg Jones II 18:43, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

Talk page

I thought I made it clear: this is the talk page for improving this article, not a forum for general discussion on the subject. Any irrelevant discussions will be deleted. Greg Jones II 18:13, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

Hmm, I think the talkheader template was removed as per the instructions on Template:Talkheader, which the template should be on very active talk pages or pages that had previous policy violations. Greg Jones II 18:45, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

I have now archived the previous discussions up to January 2007 Greg Jones II 23:17, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

Japanese Critical reception

My only complains are that we need the Japanese critical reception. The voice cast only explains the English voice cast, so we need some information about the Japanese voice cast. Greg Jones II 13:40, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

This FA nomination will continue once my complaints are addressed above. Greg Jones II 13:47, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

Well, since you probably understand the most Japanese, could you see if you can find some reviews on Japanese game sites? (Guyinblack25 14:54, 5 July 2007 (UTC))
Yes. Some reviews are at Famitsu and on Japanese sites. Greg Jones II 16:15, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
I've halted the FAC until the critical reception and review from Japan are cited. Greg Jones II 20:00, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
Hate to be a bother, but while you're searching for reviews, do you think you could find some on the sequels. I have a feeling that we'll run into the same thing when the others go for FA. (Guyinblack25 04:17, 6 July 2007 (UTC))
Yes, but I need some help on these reviews for this game and the sequels itself. Greg Jones II 15:26, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
Anybody have any luck? All I found was a message board posting that said its Famitsu score was a 33, but that's hardly a reliable source. Two quick questions that hopefully can lead us to this. Do we know of anybody on Wikipedia that might have some copies of Famitsu? Does anyone know some other reputable Japanese game sites? (Guyinblack25 04:35, 8 July 2007 (UTC))
Well, I came across one review, but all I could get out of it was that they didn't like the camera system. I'll see what else I can find, but to be honest this is the only review I could find after a couple of days of searching on Japanese sites, so I suggest we milk it for all it's worth. It's pretty lengthy, so there should be enough for what we need. Is there someone on Wikipedia that can provide a translation of the following webpage? I've already tried using web translators but it's pretty incoherent. Anybody else have any other ideas, cause I'm tapped. (Guyinblack25 23:08, 8 July 2007 (UTC))

"The Kingdom Hearts Chronicles"

The Kingdom Hearts Chronicles. Is this stuff really notable? Kariteh 22:03, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, I just saw that too. I'm not sure what to make of it. There aren't any sources to check out either. I did a google search of it and it's on various different sites and seems to have a moderate amount of views and decent user ratings, but that doesn't make for notability. Perhaps further discussion should be moved to the talk page (Guyinblack25 22:13, 5 July 2007 (UTC))
It's been redirected here as a non-notable flash animation. There are plenty of animations more deserving of articles than this (an example being Naruto: The Abridged Series) yet still don't have one. // DecaimientoPoético 22:39, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

Keyblade Page?

Hey I was just wondering why don't we make a page that describes what the Keyblade is for anybody wondering? Good idea or not?Kou Nurasaka 00:17, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

I think there was one a while ago but it was deleted because it contained non-notable information. By non-notable I mean that it was pretty much just game-guide information and didn't feature any real world information. If you come across any information from developer interviews that explain the development of it or why they designed it the way they did, then feel free to add it in one of the Kingdom Hearts articles. (Guyinblack25 02:49, 8 July 2007 (UTC))

FA

Congratulations on all who have made this article for FA! Greg Jones II 00:37, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

It's featured already? :| I don't understand it. Congratulations anyway. — Blue 06:04, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
Whoa wait a minute, is it not suppose to be? It looks like User:GimmeBot closed the discussion and updated the article history. Last I remember there was opposition because of the lack of Japanese critical reception. Is that still the case? (Guyinblack25 14:29, 16 July 2007 (UTC))
There is some critical reception by Famitsu and Dengeki Online that is already cited. If that is the case, cite some more sources with the Japanese critical reception if you can, even though it is an FA at this time.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Sjones23 (talkcontribs) 12:40, July 16, 2007
Oops, I forgot to sign my comment above. Greg Jones II 18:36, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
That (which is already tackled), and because I haven't changed my opinion to full Support :D — Blue 13:54, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
Wow, nice job. I haven't looked at this page in a while but I'll give a thorough copy-edit of it to see if there are any major outstanding issues that the FAC may have missed. Hold on. Axem Titanium 22:23, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
Ok, done. Axem Titanium 23:44, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
Good work, Axem Titanium. It is good to keep featured articles good. Greg Jones II 01:08, 18 July 2007 (UTC) May the force be with you forever, always...

Tokyo Game Show Riku demo?

It says in the article that there was a playable demo with Riku at the 2001 Tokyo Game Show. Was it with Riku or with Sora? As much as I love Riku... Sora is the main character so why would they have had a Riku demo or is this a mistake? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.184.89.25 (talkcontribs) 23:39, July 27, 2007

When I first found that piece of info, I wasn't sure about it either. But that's what the source said. It's not uncommon for demos to be different from the final game. Also, some character sketches in Ultimania books show attack moves for a character that looks like Riku. Perhaps Nomura had a different idea for Riku initially. I don't know. If you happen upon another source for that demo, feel free to add it in. (Guyinblack25 talk 05:16, 28 July 2007 (UTC))
That reviewer is severely confused. The trailer is here and it shows Sora throughout. Obviously, somebody didn't pay much attention to the plot details. ' 06:31, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
Well, the gameplay footage certainly shows Sora there, It'd be pretty safe to assume that the demo featured him as well. But without the demo and another source to cite it we can't be for sure. Apostrophe, good idea of leaving the name out so the current source for it is still usable. Thanks for finding that, and fixing the article text. (Guyinblack25 talk 14:25, 28 July 2007 (UTC))
