Semi-protect??[edit]

Someone vandalized the squad section.@Lugnuts: Should we semi-protect?

Yes, please raise at WP:RFPP. Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 08:27, 12 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Details about matches[edit]

Requesting the editor to describe all the test matches day by day like Day 1 through last ball of the match like in previous matches. Vijay Bahadur Singh343 (talk) 08:47, 7 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You are free to do that yourself, provided your standard of English is good enough. If it isn't, I wouldn't be surprised to see your edits reverted. – PeeJay 16:01, 7 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Forfeit or Abandon[edit]

Very disappointing end to a great series, but if India were unable to field a team, they forfeit so it is technically 2-2? Bs1jac (talk) 08:17, 10 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Apparently the ECB's use of the word 'forfeit' has been amended after initial publication... a live situation still ongoing! Bs1jac (talk) 08:37, 10 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, quickly retracted once someone realised that the BCCI would have to stump (no pun intended) up the costs! Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 11:26, 10 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The match is not forfeited, but abandoned. India is willing to play the 5th match later as a standalone match, but England is not.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.142.67.206 (talk)

Series result[edit]

Please refrain from amending the series result as the final match has not been forfeited. India stand to have won the series 2-1 with no final match taking place. FactualAnalysis (talk) 09:45, 10 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

That is a possible outcome, although it may yet be deemed that they did technically forfeit. An unfortunate end all round to a pretty evenly contested series. Bs1jac (talk) 11:35, 10 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Cancelled doesn't mean forfeited, it means it didn't happen. Nowhere on this article have we posted a series result, because the result for the 5th Test has not yet been officially decided by the ICC. Probably the match will be played next year, but if not then it's up to the ICC to announce the series result (and how it affects the Test Championship)- once they do, we can put a series result on here. Nevertheless, "cancelled" is the standard terminology for the match outcome, so please stop reverting it, as it doesn't imply anyone forfeited like you are asserting. Joseph2302 (talk) 08:07, 23 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

But the fact can't be denied that team India has won the series in the true sense of the term.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.142.67.206 (talkcontribs)

No, it depends on what the ICC say, as per Joseph's reply. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 08:35, 23 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
And like I said, we haven't posted a series result yet, because the ICC hasn't given us one to post. It's up to ICC to decide the result, and we'll post that result when they do. We just report what reliable sources say, which currently isn't anything. Joseph2302 (talk) 08:50, 23 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Lugnuts and Joseph2302 (talk) , but within only a matter of time, India will be declared as the winner of the series by a margin of 2-1.202.142.67.206 (talk) 09:20, 23 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
