Family[edit]

"He is close to his family and has visited with his daughter."

Can anyone give a reference for this?--Head of the Caligula Appreciation Society 23:31, 20 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Untrue[edit]

As far as I can tell, much of this page is based off of the movie, and untrue. Someone needs to do some serious fact-checking using the book as a reference. Two things that caught my eye... Carlos and George were not cellmates, and carlos was released from danbury after george.

I agree read blow, the book blow, also i dont think george killed anybody. antoher good book if your interested on this topic is cocaine or killing pablo, both first class books that are far more factual than this website.
If you have access to more information on the topic then by all means help out the project. Whether or not wikipedia is factual is wholly dependent on the contributions of people who read and edit it. So please go ahead and edit this or any other article accordingly (just make sure you effectively source your contributions to make it easy for them to be verified).--Head of the Caligula Appreciation Society 08:27, 31 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Well according to this PBS interview "My bunk mate was Carlos Lehder, he said he was from Colombia and he spoke excellent English, well mannered and his clothes were pretty neat. I figured I was pretty lucky to have somebody that was kind of mellow and well mannered and articulate in English"

Based on Blow[edit]

It would indeed seem that this article is based off of the movie. However: It is possible that Blow was really a very accurate rendition of the life and times of George Jung. Either way: A big fat overhaul for this page is necessary.

The movie is based on the book and shouldn't be considered as a source. The movie fictionalizes many parts, so the book is the reliable source. I've always tried to go back to the book as a source whenever possible. There are several other good sources out there as well, trial transcripts, a PBS special, etc. Though in most of these, it presents the story as George wants it presented. There is obvious motive for him to spin it but those are the sources we have. SchmuckyTheCat

FAKE Nothing in this page is right read the book "Killing Pablo" or you can probably check out the history channel for "The True Story of Killing Pablo" Mark Bowden did both of them and he is probably the most qualified author to recount the history and ties of George Jung —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.33.128.189 (talk) 23:36, 11 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fort Dix?[edit]

This is also wrong in the fact that he is in Otisville Federal Correctional Institution, in Otisville, NY not Fort Dix in New Jersey.

Actually, you are wrong, he is in Fort Dix New Jersey. Batman2005 00:54, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have checked his number.......19225004 at the federal prisoners page and it says he is currently in Fort Dix —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.125.126.75 (talkcontribs)

He's no longer at fort dix. According to the federal bureau of prisons website he is at FCI LA Tuna in Anthony TX LINK Herogamer (talk) 20:25, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

His website even states this He is currently incarcerated at Federal Correctional Institution, La Tuna in Anthony, Texas. His projected release date is November 27, 2014

No idea why the DOC have him listed as being in NJ, unless this is a recent transfer.76.252.21.254 (talk) 13:34, 24 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

in article comment added by 70.17.141.162[edit]

"To the best of my knowledge, there are NO "mansions" on Nauset Beach, nor even any regular dwellings, since this is part of the government's Cape Cod National Seashore. I doubt that anyone, even with George's money, would be able to find, much less buy a "mansion" in that area! No doubt he had property elsewhere in eastern Mass. By the way, Weymouth isn't even ON Cape Cod! - STW-Feb-2007" by Special:Contributions/70.17.141.162 —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jayvdb (talkcontribs) 01:52, 12 February 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Jewish?[edit]

Was george jung jewish or was his mother jewish? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.230.42.60 (talk) 23:12, 2 September 2007 (UTC) I just read the book. Jung comes from a Dutch background on his father's side. His mother's maiden name was O'Neil, which sounds Irish. By the way, the bit in the article about Jung never being armed needs to go. Porter spent about 2 pages of the book discussing he various guns George carried, which he never seems to have used. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.242.41.223 (talk) 15:51, 11 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree the article saying he is German is false! He was Dutch, and partial Jewish from mother's side. O'neill is an irish last name, but I wont say he has Irish ancestory because he has never claimed it. The book is accurate, and mostly from Jung's own mouth. He is Dutch, and Jewish! That article on his father being German is not correct! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.0.176.220 (talk) 03:27, 31 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Factually Confused?[edit]

The article currently says that in 1994 he was arrested for carrying 660 pounds of marijuana. However, that is the same exact number he was arrested for in Chicago in 1974 - 660 pounds. Perhaps the facts are getting confused? I thought he was arrested in 1994 because he got back into smuggling cocaine. I could be wrong, but if so, perhaps a reference is in order? At the very least, www.bostongeorge.com gives 640 pounds of marijuana to be how much he carried in Chicago in '74. Seems awfully odd to be arrested again for a similar number. Guldenat (talk) 04:44, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to add that if he was arrested for 15 years in 1994, he should have been released in 2009. Has this article been edited recently? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.87.129.180 (talk) 01:34, 21 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Comment[edit]

I would say that an interview with George Jung would be pretty accurate.

Wonderland Gang[edit]

Why is this page linked to the Wonderland Gang page? I do not see Jung mentioned anywhere as part of Wonderland situation. Blakestern (talk) 21:29, 24 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
