Source for "Elisha" Manning?

The first sentence lacks a legitimate source to confirm Eli's first name as "Elisha." Incredibissell (talk) 01:17, 12 October 2009 (UTC)

I think that Eli should ba called Timex, he takes a licking and keeps on (ticking) playing. His efforts against the 49ers was outstanding. Eli is bringing the team to another superbowl in 2012, not 2011.

The article claims Eli is bring the team to another superbowl in 2011 instead of 2012. If it is meant as the 2011 season, then the section mentioning that he brought the team to a superbowl in 2008 should then be changed to 2007. University of Mississippi NOT Mississippi College

In the info box on the right-side of the article it states "College: Mississippi". Please change this to read: "University of Mississippi (Ole Miss)." There is a Mississippi College in Jackson, MS that is not affiliated with the University of Mississippi.

The link is already to Ole Miss. The template used does supports a "cis" parameter for collegiate Canadian football, and also renders the word "University." The "college" parameter is for collegiate American football and renders the word "College." Tjhnova, you raise a valid point, but until the template is altered, we really can't change this. In the U.S., "college" and "university" are often used interchangeably. Unlike in other countries, "college" does not necessarily imply an inferior education than "university." This particular template uses "college" to indicate an American institution of higher learning, and "university" to indicate a Canadian institution of higher learning. The State of Missisissippi is home to Mississippi College, as well as the University of Mississippi (also known as "Ole Miss.") Eli Manning attended Ole Miss. I think that it should be included that Manning is referenced in the Nicki Minaj song Roman's Revenge under popular culture as it relates directly to him and is not currently included on the Wiki. Eli Manning (under sub-heading 'Super Bowl XLII' in paragraph that begins "Trailing 14-10..." Manning became only the second quarterback in NFL history to throw two go-ahead fourth quarter touchdowns in a Super Bowl (Joe Montana being the first).[63]

This fact is INCORRECT, as BOTH of Montan's TD passes in the fourth quarter Super Bowl XXIII did NOT give San Francisco the LEAD, ONLY the LAST ONE did (the first one only TIED the game). The Elias Sports Bureau cited fact is incorrect and cannot be located, and should not be referenced under #63, as it is incorrect.

Therefore, the Wiki text should be changed to read that 'Eli Manning is the only quarterback in NFL history to throw two go-ahead fourth quarter touchdowns in a Super Bowl.'

The text could also be changed to read that Eli became the THIRD quarterback in NFL history to throw two TYING OR go-ahead fourth quarter touchdowns in a Super Bowl (after Joe Montana in Super Bowl XXXIII, and Jake Delhomme in Super Bowl XXXVIII.). Celestra's note is wrong, my edit above is correct - In Super Bowl 23, Joe Montana's first TD pass in the fourth quarter only tied the game at 13-13. The second one won the game 20-16. Celestra's scores are wrong and were never the scores in Super Bowl 23. That is the only one of Montana's 4 Super Bowls that he threw a 4th quarter, go-ahead touchdown pass. (http://www.pro-football-reference.com/super-bowl/xxiii.htm) I asked the Elias Sports Bureau about their source that is in the Wiki listing and they told me that it comes from an ESPN page that is wrong, so Celestra, nor anyone else shoulduse it for citation for this fact. Go to any other sports site on the internet about Super Bowl 23 and you will see that Celestra's/ESPN's scores in this citation are wrong. Please make this needed change, in order to have an accurate site. Thanks.

Computer Errors and Vandalism in intro paragraph

I can see "Cite error: Closing </ref> missing for <-ref-> tag; see the help page ELI MANNING IS A FUCKING BITCH" (hyphens inserted to prevent compilation) at the top of the page in red letters. It doesn't seem to show up in the source so I can't say what's causing it. I imagine it's an exploit in the wiki software. Not sure what to do. The lead section says "Manning holds Giants franchise records for most passing yards, touchdown passes and completed passes in a career". The Giants franchise records section seems out-of-date with regard to a career record. Most consecutive starts by a quarterback says: 119, but List of most consecutive starts by a National Football League quarterback says 178 (167 + 11). The Statistics section needs updated for 2014. I agree that the "Giants franchise records" section needs to be updated. With his win over the 49ers on October 11, 2015 Manning became the winningest QB in Giants franchise history with 102 wins. This includes both regular and post season victories. I think a reference to that is appropriate in the opening portion of this article, among his other noteworthy team records.

It would be undue weight on a trivial matter to even mention this in the article, unless it was shown through one or more reliable sources that this nickname actually is being used, has caught on, is actually a nickname of his, and not the isolated incident that it appears to be. Who cites Manning as a game-manager? Eli Manning has NEVER been cited as a game manager, like ever. When he had his clutch seasons and won two Superbowl MVPs and the rings that came with them, he was known as an elite, clutch QB. Then when he had his awful season in 2013 he was hardly a game manager since he was losing games for the Giants with his poor performance. Now in 2014 and 2015 when he's passing like a top 5 QB, that has changed. I would like to see ONE article on the internet that cites Eli Manning as a game manager.... he's either a clutch QB that wins the game for the team or he screws up and loses it. A game manager is a QB who just scrapes by and basically makes short, safe passes, and gives the ball to RBs and tries to not lose the game for his team. This article is silly.

Game manager....

Eli Manning is not a game manager QB and the constant attempts to edit this article to state that are ridiculous. It contradicts Wikipedia's own definition of a game manager QB. A game manager QB is one who plays very conservatively, relying on the run game and very short, low risk passes in order to avoid turnovers because they lack the skill otherwise, or are too old. Think Peyton Manning in the recent super bowl. Eli Manning is a risk taker, and throws the ball deep when he wants to. He either throws great passes when he does, or gets intercepted, reflected in his high INT number. Though that's changed with the new offensive scheme the Giants run, he still threw the second most TDs in the league last year. That is simply not a game manager. In the introduction, it states that Tom Brady has four Super Bowl MVP rings. Brady was named Super Bowl MVP three times, not four. Deion Branch won MVP in the other Super Bowl that Brady won. Bosco115 (talk) 04:55, 29 September 2016 (UTC)

Fixed, although I had no idea that super bowl MVPs received rings. When people say "rings" it's usually in reference to the actual Super Bowl championship ring, which might have been the cause of the mistake. Lizard (talk) 05:16, 29 September 2016 (UTC)
