No longer a School within the University[edit]

Due to a structure, Law is now part of the School of Social Sciences at UoD.

Not sure whether this page should be merged into the main University page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.99.109.71 (talk) 11:30, 16 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The Law school has an established history and still retains a separate identity, although following the 2015 reorganisation it is now technically part of the School of Social Sciences. It now seems to be branded as "Dundee Law School". Moving the article to a new location that reflects this is appropriate, rather than a merge. Alumni[edit]

1) While William Kirk Dickson received an honorary LLD from St Andrews a) this does not in itself indicate and association with Dundee b) Honorary degrees do not usually meet Wikipedia standards to be considered alumni. Unless someone can show a connection with Dundee he should be removed from this list. 2) I have removed John Campbell, 1st Baron Campbell - he cannot possibly be an alumnus as he died 20 years before University College, Dundee came into existence. 3) For the same reason I have removed William Lamb, who lived more than 300 years before University College, Dundee was founded. Dunarc (talk) 23:00, 20 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I have also now removed Duncan McNeill, 1st Baron Colonsay from the list. Again he died before University College, Dundee existed and so cannot have been an alumnus of Dundee. Dunarc (talk) 19:40, 24 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I have now removed David Erskine, Lord Dun who died in 1754 and attended University in the 17th century. Again there is no way he could have attended any predecessor of the University of Dundee, as the University started in the 1880s with University College Dundee. Equally I would note it said he was "MP for Forfarshire". However the linked article would suggest that this was not the case, although there seems to be errors in his own article concerning this as well. Dunarc (talk) 15:35, 27 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
