Musical influences

Archuleta's mother is from Honduras, and much of the music he listened to as a child was Latin-influenced including watching his mom sing at events with her sisters.[19][21] She also "was big on dancing" according to Archuleta, and would "make" him dance to traditional music with his older sister.[22] He also listened to jazz music, he said, from his father's collection as well as gospel, pop, rock and "soulful music."[17] In a later interview, he revealed that his father was a jazz musician. Archuleta also said he enjoys Broadway musicals.[23]

On his American Idol "Fast Facts" page, Archuleta cited his musical influences as Natalie Cole, Stevie Wonder, Kirk Franklin and Bryan Adams.[18] When he listed his top pop music artists, he cited Natasha Bedingfield, Natalie Cole, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Bryan Adams, Kirk Franklin, and Robbie Williams.[18] Like Elliott Yamin and another singer he admires, John Mayer, Archuleta tries to infuse his pop selections with a soulful vibe.[17] In a Seventeen interview he cites Sara Bareilles as a clever singer-songwriter he looks up to.[24]

To Alexander.hugh.george, Yes, Archuleta is amazed with charice's voice (leave it at that and be thankful if ur a fan...) but to the point that SHE INFLUENCED his singing??? come on! I havent seen/heard any archuleta music that would prove it. ANd what? are you telling archuleta fans that HE HAS NO BALLS to just follow what others told him JUST TO PROMOTE HIS CONCERT and HIMSELF? And that DAVID, suddenly became a BIG LIAR when HE FACED an INDONESIAN MEdia last APril 2009?

As for Regine, she never needed international exposure to be appreciated. She had her chances but decided to just maintain a stable career in our country. Don't drag her name into this. She's a music icon in the Philippines...She already belongs in our HISTORY. SHe doesnt deserve any of these. And I dont believe that David Archuleta is so corrupt to be involved in such scheme. revision to chart

Yea and they all should be changed. Just as we don't beat the obvious into people we don't need to state ___ has again gone another week. The info of what order they sang is also unhelpful. The lede clearly states he finished as the runner-up and we can give credit to our readers that they will realize that he didn't just sing those songs as a special guest. The chart is a supplement to the text which should be clear. The lede should state as of April 2009 ____ is a contestant. And when eliminated it states that info. Likewise with bottom three info, if it's relevant it will be in a reliable source - and OMG every bit of this stuff is covered - so we then cover it. _____ has never been in the bottom three or ____ has been in the bootom three twice before elimiation, etc. The order they sang? That seems likes it's original research or, sorry to say, fancruft, but not helpful on the biography articles. We have no reliable sourcing that the order impacts anything although it might. It ends up being as trivial as what they wore, their hair, who the friends were in the audience etc. If any of it is covered in reliable sources then maybe. Meanwhile the season article does a fairly good job of organizing the rest. Last year i took this article on and I guarantee it's been a non-stop effort to keep it cleaned up. Most people do have good intentions but there are a lot of fans who insert unhelpful bits. Is he part of the LDS? Yeah that would be interesting to know.... if he is part of The LDS Mormon church or The Missiouri Mormon Church "The Community of Christ." If he is part of The LDS isn't like Marriage so important? So is he looking into dating with the LDS Cult? And is he going to go to a missionary trip like all the LDS Young Men do? I'd like to know more about his involvment with his religion.

Name of the church A minor change: the name of the church is "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" (note the hyphenation and the lower-case 'd' in "Latter-day"). dad's business / occupation add?

Not sure where this might go, but some interesting details of David's dad's occupation in Utah.

In 1998, Jeff Archuleta founded a computer services firm in Salt Lake City called Arch Consulting, which specializes in reselling used business technology equipment. The company flourished when the dot-com bubble burst in 2001. After David's Star Search success, Jeff expanded his business to include CD production and distribution and music production for young artists.

Unless there is a reliable and valid source for that information, it shouldn't go into the article. "Alleged" is not good enough to qualify as a reason. We can say "David Archuleta is allegedly bald; he's only wearing a wig" and put it on the article. It's not exactly true, isn't it? Record Label

He was not dropped. He actually mentioned it in his blog that week after google blew up; Jive had offers. Probably for another 3 year contract. He decided it was time to move on. ...From my eyes and a professional stand point; he made the best decision because Jive doesn't exist anymore.
