  • This section appears not to make sense. I'm wondering whether to just archive it out of the way. It's confusing/unhelpful and not well formatted.Sladen (talk) 23:19, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

all WRONG!

He's The Stig?!! Woah! APclark 20:45, 29 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Having spent several hours checking the net looking in forums it has become clear there is no concrete evidence to suggest Collins is "The Stig" on Top Gear, other than hearsay. All comments supporting this viewpoint simply state Ben Collins is "The Stig" without citing any references other than their "knowledge". Therefore any further amendments to this page explicitly stating Ben Collins is “The Stig”, whether truth or otherwise, should cite verifiable sources. - Dan`C 15:47, 5 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

There are multiple people who play the Stig. Collins for example played the Stig for some (or all) of the 2007 Britcar 24hr race. --Viper007Bond 00:41, 9 September 2007 (UTC) ———————————————————————————————————————————————— Well I think ive sussed it so ill try to prove it here.[reply]

1st - The first Stig was a relatively little-known racing driver so the current Stig probably is as well. Ben Collins is not really that well known if you ask me so fits in this category. (see http://www.autotrader.co.uk/EDITORIAL/CARS/FEATURES/TRACKSIDE/33573.html)

2nd - He is 1.87m in height (over six feet), watch any one of the many videos posted about you`ll see he`s a good deal taller than most around him.

3rd - There is a video posted on (http://www.topspeed.com/cars/car-news/who-is-the-stig-ar29507.html) where near the end you hear him speaking whilst suited up. Compare his voice to an audio clip interview with Ben Collins - (http://www.crash.net/search_results.htm?search_type_id=6&search_string=ben+collins#) you`ll find the voice is, i would say, IDENTICAL.

4th - As seen on Wikipedia and on the HSE`s website (http://www.hse.gov.uk/foi/releases/richardhammond.pdf), Ben Collins is listed as a "High Performance Driver & Consultant" - proving there is a link there.

I think thats about it but its a pretty good case if you ask me. Of course it doesnt prove that Top Gear use a few different drivers, I havent looked into that yet!.....Shod-Andy 00:37, 22 October 2007 (UTC) SHOD![reply]

Britcar 24 Hour Race[edit]

Amongst the participants at the Britcar 24 Hour Race Top Gear were driving three cars - May, Clarkson and The Stig.

During Sky's TV coverage the commentator Andrew Marriott hinted at The Stig's identity by saying that the driver had previously been in British F3 and ASCAR. While this is not concrete proof that The Stig is Ben Collins, it narrows speculation a bit.

This week one of the TG repeats on Dave channel had a chap simply named 'Ben' driving a Merc sports car so his friend 'Tim' could parachute into the back seat at the former RAF (USAF) Bentwaters airfield. This 'Ben' looked like Ben Collins... wonder why they did not reveal their surnames?

Is it worth pointing out in the section on The Stig that Collins has appeared in Top Gear as himself, see here. --Bmbch (talk) 20:35, 13 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
