Lost in translation[edit]

I used google translate on the Japanese version of the article and then picked the chunks out of the resulting language stew. Tigerboy1966  17:17, 22 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I do the same thing. Usually less than half of it makes sense. Web translations have a long way to go :)--Pawnkingthree (talk) 14:15, 27 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

May tournament 2019[edit]

Perhaps this part of the article could be a bit extended (a second paragraph), because I think it was quite a surprise to many folks to see him win this tournament; and it is also his first tournament win, so it may deserve a new paragraph altogether (in particular the decision on day 13 in his favour, against Tochinoshin, who, on day 14, got his 10th win for Ozeki promotion again). Right now the article is a bit centric to his school-origin, but with this victory I think he showed that his sumo is actually on a level on par with other good sumo wrestlers right now. 2A02:8388:1604:CA80:0:0:0:1 (talk) 19:13, 25 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Yes the article will definitely be expanded over the next day or so once he receives the Emperors Cup and gives his press conference. Give it time. Pawnkingthree (talk) 23:11, 25 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Record while supsended[edit]

Why is he shown as 0-0-15 in June 2022? It's safe to assume he won't be in Juyo by then, so he will go 0-0-7. And in any case, while it makes sense to show that he is suspended for futre tournaments, putting numeric records for tournaments that have not yet happened seems off. 0-0-15 is the default. It is possible to change the number, but I unfortunately I don't think it's possible to remove the numerical record altogether, which I agree would be best. I think it is likely that he will go through juryo in one tournament and be in makushita for both March and May, but of course nothing is guaranteed. Hypothetical ranking in July 2022[edit]

Should a clearly impossibe conjecture be in the article only because some source says so? Since Asanoyama is on top of Makushita now, he can absolutely not full lower that Makushita in the May tournament, an in July he can participate again. That's a simple fact and not OR. --Bernardoni (talk) 21:00, 10 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It is absolutely possible, indeed probable, that he will drop out of makushita with two consecutive 0-0-7s. Just look at Terunofuji in 2018, who went Makushita 6> Makushita 47> Sandanme 27. Pawnkingthree (talk) 00:00, 11 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
