Merging the article[edit]

I propose merging this page into article World War II, giving it a section there. Please share your opinion, and if no opposition comes up in the next couple of days, I'll go ahead and do it. Thanks, Shalom11111 (talk) 18:57, 25 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Agree it should be merged, but not sure if it should be to the WWII article in its entirety. How about combining this article with Nazi plunder, possibly linked from the WWII article including a summary section that summarizes the scope of the cultural history of Europe that could have been lost forever. The scope of the plunder is large, and complicated. The "Monument men" through the Monuments, Fine Arts, and Archives program, a group of historians, curators, women, and soldiers helped to gather, transport and document the many valuables and cultural histories is involved. Gold and silver taken from banks, art and artifacts taken from museums and churches in different countries for Hitler's Germany. http://blog.aaa.si.edu/2014/03/monuments-men-inside-the-mines.html Although a great amount has been found, there's still many artifacts, paintings, jewels, and documents that are still missing. http://www.smithsonianmag.com/history/true-story-monuments-men-180949569/ Of course sources need to be found and added, and hopefully if it's given a name (maybe this article can be the name, and merge "Nazi Plunder" with this one. Just a thought, and sorry I don't have much time to find any other links at this time. Edit to add link about "The Monuments Men," 'What the Monuments Men Wrought' (WSJ) and info about movie directed by George Clooney http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424052702304691904579345290918052568 RupJana (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 12:23, 27 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Stolen versus confiscated[edit]

Why are there no separate part detailing the many US "confiscated" pieces where many disappeared or where never returned? Seems strange there are for other countries but not for the US where we have info. Bias or just missing? 185.233.255.237 (talk) 18:51, 10 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
