Shulabad (Persian: شول‌آباد), formerly Shulabad-e Sofla (شول‌آباد سفلی), also Romanized as Shulehabad-e Soflā and Shūlehābād-e Soflā,[3] is a city in, and the capital of, Zaz va Mahru District of Aligudarz County, Lorestan province, Iran.[4] It also serves as the administrative center for Zaz-e Sharqi Rural District.[5]

At the 2006 census, its population (as the village of Shulabad-e Sofla) was 484 in 93 households.[6] The village merged with the former villages of Asar, Del Suran, Derakht Chaman, Khodadadkosh-e Olya, Khodadadkosh-e Sofla, Sarlak, and Shulabad-e Olya. Its name changed to Shulabad upon elevation to the status of a city.[7] The following census in 2011 counted 1,553 people in 336 households,[8] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 1,531 people in 422 households.[2]
