Visitors to Uruguay must obtain a visa from one of the Uruguayan diplomatic missions unless they are citizens of one of the visa-exempt countries.

Visa exemption[edit]
Holders of passports of the following countries and territories may enter Uruguay without a visa for up to 90 days (unless otherwise noted). Extension of stay is possible for an additional 90 days.[1][2]

2 - 30 days.
3 - For holders of a MSAR passport or a MSAR Travel Permit.
4 - Including all classes of British nationality.

- A visa is not required for citizens of any country who were born in Uruguay according to their travel document.
- Holders of ordinary passports of China do not require a visa if they meet the following requirements:
- Have a passport valid for at least 6 months before the passport expires.
- Have a valid multiple-entry visa (or visa valid for over 18 months) of any member state of Schengen Area, Canada, the United Kingdom or the United States.
Non-ordinary passports[edit]
Holders of diplomatic or official/service passports of Albania, Angola, Argentina, Armenia, Azerbaijan (30 days), Belarus, Cambodia (30 days), Cuba, Dominican Republic, Egypt, Greece, India (30 days), Indonesia (30 days), Malaysia (30 days), Morocco, Namibia, Palestine, Russia (90 days within any 180-day period), Singapore, Suriname, Thailand (30 days), Tunisia and Vietnam (30 days) as well as holders of diplomatic passports of China (30 days) do not require a visa for up to 90 days (unless otherwise noted).
Citizens of China holding a passport endorsed for public affairs do not require a visa for a maximum stay of 90 days.
