Regarding your comment in the MoS discussion: I also once "voted" per someone else, but in general I recommend to provide your own thoughts rather than only referring to those of others. I supported the view that Voceditenore detailed for Mozart:

"Infoboxes are an integral part of editing and more importantly of the reader experience. They allow us to cater both to the reader who is looking only for the basic facts concerning the person quickly and easily presented and to those who want a lengthy and more detailed artcle. The "repetition" argument is simply a canard. The Encyclopædia Britannica doesn't have a problem with "repetition" via infoboxes [1]. Nor does the Australian Dictionary of Biography [2].
The other "oppose" reasons are equally weak.
  • They contain "unimportant factoids"?? The dates and places of birth and death, the subject's primary occupation are not factoids, they are highly salient and essential facts of a biography ...
  • There is no evidence for the assertion that vandalism is harder to detect in infoboxes than in the article text ...
  • The notion that an infobox attracts less valuable editors and its absence will somehow make them edit the article text instead is equally preposterous and patronizing ..."

Please read it full length, and tell me here - and better all in the discussion - what you think? -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:35, 3 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

On the bicentenary of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, I remember our recent uplifting choral concert in pictures, on my user page and in my concerts (leading to the two at the church's article). The closest was in the paper. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:48, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please have a look at this AfD closure[edit]

Please have a look at this AfD closure. For me it was wrong closure as each of KEEP & DELETE got 3 votes excluding the nomination. Twinkle1990 (talk) 16:50, 3 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Twinkle. Deletion discussions are not a vote. Consensus is established not by numbers, but by strength of argument. I believe that I correctly assessed the consensus in this case.
In my view, the editors advocating to keep the article referred to specific sourcing that meets GNG and explained why the article subject has received sustained coverage over the course of several years.
There were three editors in favor of deletion. One of those editors acknowledged that she marginally satisfies the WP:GNG. One delete !vote believed that she had not received sustained coverage and that The available coverage is limited in depth, often focusing on her arrest for hate speech or her association with notable figures, rather than any significant achievements or unique contributions. The latter point was effectively rebutted by other editors who pointed out that notability is not derived from achievements or contributions, but from how a person is covered in reliable sources. Finally, I did not find your delete !vote to be particularly strong since you merely stated that you were not in favor of keeping the article without explaining why. voorts (talk/contributions) 20:07, 3 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please re-open the AfD for better consensus right now. Twinkle1990 (talk) 16:34, 4 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't believe that relisting this discussion will lead to a better consensus or different outcome, and you haven't given me sufficient reason to believe I've evaluated consensus incorrectly. Please feel free to take this to WP:DRV. voorts (talk/contributions) 20:02, 4 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Editor of the Week[edit]

Editor of the Week
Your ongoing efforts to improve the encyclopedia have not gone unnoticed: You have been selected as Editor of the Week in recognition of your great contributions! (courtesy of the Wikipedia Editor Retention Project)

Hey man in josh submitted the following nomination for Editor of the Week:

I nominate Voorts to be Editor of the Week for their exemplary content work. Since October of '23, they have worked to promote Running Out of Time (song), Well he would, wouldn't he?, Cora Agnes Benneson, as well as a number of other articles to featured and good article status. This is no small feat for someone who has been editing for less than a year, but Editor Voorts dove in and has done exceptionally well in a short time. In addition to his excellent content work, he has also been quickly taking to internal processes like new page patrol. I have a feeling this is only the beginning of a long and barnstar-studded on-wiki career. Seconded by Eddie891 and TechnoSquirrel69

You can copy the following text to your user page to display a user box proclaiming your selection as Editor of the Week:

RFA2024 update: phase I concluded, phase II begins[edit]

Hi there! Phase I of the Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/2024 review has concluded, with several impactful changes gaining community consensus and proceeding to various stages of implementation. Some proposals will be implemented in full outright; others will be discussed at phase II before being implemented; and still others will proceed on a trial basis before being brought to phase II. The following proposals have gained consensus:

See the project page for a full list of proposals and their outcomes. A huge thank-you to everyone who has participated so far :) looking forward to seeing lots of hard work become a reality in phase II. theleekycauldron (talk), via MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 08:09, 5 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Carabus mariettii (marietti) stefaniruspolii[edit]

You reverted my edit--what I thought was a correction--moving the article from "marietti" to "mariettii." You said "marietti" is the corrct spelling, according to the source. I was just going by the other subspecies. Does this mean that all of those subspecies--and the species itself--need to be moved? Uporządnicki (talk) 13:25, 5 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I hadn't noticed that there were other subspecies and that the species name is spelled the way you that you had changed the title to. I think the one "i" is correct based on the RS cited and a brief search of Google/Google scholar, but I'm not a species-naming expert, so perhaps a WP:RMPM discussion should be started at Carabus mariettii for the species and all of the subspecies. voorts (talk/contributions) 14:19, 5 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
OK, if I get to it, I'll open a discussion. But it'll probably be at a project page, rather than one species or genus article--which might not be seen. Uporządnicki (talk) 18:36, 5 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This is to let you know that the above article has been scheduled as today's featured article for 28 June 2024. Please check that the article needs no amendments. Feel free to amend the draft blurb, which can be found at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/June 2024, or to make comments on other matters concerning the scheduling of this article at Wikipedia talk:Today's featured article/June 2024. Please keep an eye on that page, as comments regarding the draft blurb may be left there by user:dying, who assists the coordinators by making suggestions on the blurbs, or by others. I also suggest that you watchlist Wikipedia:Main Page/Errors from two days before the article appears on the Main Page. Thanks and congratulations on your work!—Wehwalt (talk) 16:06, 5 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
