The Template:Refimprove page guideline on usage has the following in it's first paragraph:

This template indicates that the article needs additional inline citations. This template should be used only for articles where there are some, but insufficient, inline citations to support the material currently in the article. Don't use this tag for articles that contain no unreferenced material, even if all the material is supported by a single citation.

The provided reference supports all of the material in the page. Secondly, that same page also suggests:

Some editors understand this template to be redundant when it is used on articles clearly marked as stubs.

Every single one of the articles you have tagged is marked as a stub on the talk page. There is no benefit from tagging these articles. If you are that set on the fact that the single reference is insufficent, you can move the external link to a reference and site it in the article. Terlob (talk) 05:42, 10 January 2016 (UTC)

@Mokshjuneja: I'm not understanding what you mean by "In such a scenario". The single in-line source supports all of the material in each article, so there is no need to tag it per the instructions at Template:refimprove. Even WP:GENREF gives the guidance:

The disadvantage of using general references alone is that text–source integrity is lost, unless the article is very short.

All of these articles are short. Where additional information is added, sources are given in line for the additional information - for example Stan Brady was created by me, and the new information added was supported by a new source. • 3O Request Greetings, both. Terlob requested a 3rd opinion on this dispute, but this is a completely non-binding process, and my opinion carries the same weight as any other user's. After reviewing the guidelines, I believe that the use of a refimprove tag on an article such as this (which was the state of the article before it was tagged) is inappropriate, because there is no uncited material in the article. The template documentation is quite clear on that point. I would even go further and say that if in a longer article, a single section, or a single sentence, is uncited, you should use the inline or section tags, and not refimprove. That said, those articles really are very short, and this one, at least, was not tagged as a stub at that point. Therefore, the stub tag inserted by Moksh Juneja was quite appropriate, and takes care of all the issues at that point in time. Regards,Vanamonde93 (talk) 17:42, 10 January 2016 (UTC)

Billy Beggs

In case you were curious, Bill Beggs was previously created, talking about this guy; it was A7 speedied a few days after creation. There was also apparently a William Beggs article, because it was protected in 2008 with a rationale of CSD G4, biographies of living persons concerns, OTRS/private correspondance-related, see User:Daniel/SP for more information. Please email me if you have any questions. However, the page has no deletion log, and there aren't any deleted edits; I'm not clear if the log and deleted edit got removed somehow (oversight perhaps?) or if this were merely a preëmptive deletion. Jim McCoy

I'm going through some of the early Melbourne players and when I came across Jim McCoy I noticed he doesn't have an entry in the Holmesby & Main's Encyclopedia (9th ed). The only McCoy listed is Jack McCoy and then it just skips on to Austin McCrabb. Does your edition have an entry for Jim McCoy? Or is there some other explanation (e.g. listed under another name)? @Jenks24: Just had a look, and there's no Jim McCoy in the 10th edition either. I've looked through all the Melbourne Mc's and Mac's but can't see his game tacked on anyone else. There were probably 5 or 6 players I came across that had this problem - hopefully the 11th edition (if there is one) picks them up along the way. Terlob (talk) 07:54, 27 January 2016 (UTC)

Huh, that's interesting. I knew there were some discrepancies in games/goals counts between the Encyclopedia and AFL Tables/AustralianFootball, but I didn't realise there were discrepancies in terms of actual players. My copy of 125 yrs of the Melbourne Demons also has no listing for anyone called McCoy. Melbourne did recruit someone called McCoy, brother of the umpire, at the start of the season [1]. But I can't find him mentioned in any of newspaper articles discussing the match vs Fitzroy he's supposed to have played in. His brother did umpire that match though [2]. Bit of a mystery. @Jenks24:The umpire for the game he supposedly played in was a McCoy [3] - my best guess would be that somewhere along the line somebody has read McCoy on a teamsheet/scorecard and found the only McCoy in the squad at that time was Jim, and credited him with a game. There has to be a game out of order somewhere, as there are already 20 players listed for Melbourne in that particular game not including Jim. Terlob (talk) 09:19, 27 January 2016 (UTC)

Hi Jenks - I've had a look through my copy and can't see him. Demonwiki mentions the fact he's not in the Encyclopedia, and there's a thread on BigFooty about him that says the same. Herb Sawatzky page creation
