Thank you for your message. It is true that Wikipedia's search function will take a user to Indian Territory if the user types "Indian territory". However, a Wikilink to Indian territory is not automatically linked to Indian Territory. Currently, more than 30 articles link to Indian territory. Deleting the redirect would leave them with redlinks. That's why I said it's a useful redirect.

If you (or another editor) change those links from Indian territory to Indian Territory, the redirect can be deleted. If you're interested, AWB would make quick work of it. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 18:47, 14 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Paedia. I noticed you created a Requests for Adminship page some time ago; I was wondering as to what the status of that request might be. I think it's fair to warn you that new users are rarely successful at RfA and that the Wikipedia editing community sets very high standards for editors running for adminship. That being said, I strongly urge you to read WP:GRFA, User:Davidwr/Administration is not for new users, and WP:NOTNOW, and ask you to reconsider whether you really do wish to go through with your candidacy; please understand that you stand very little to no chance of passing RfA at this point and that you are strongly discouraged from running for adminship. If you are still intent on running for adminship with that RfA and are absolutely positive this is what you want, please do let me know; otherwise, I'll go ahead and delete the RfA page for you in about a week or so from today. Thanks for your message[edit]

I have left my comments. Thanks for bringing me up to date on the colonial Hong Kong article.--Computor (talk) 21:32, 6 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Country data templates[edit]

Hello Paedia, I see that you have been busy adding to the flag template system. Please note that these templates are not intended to be all-inclusive image containers, but only have images that are actually used in icon form elsewhere in the encyclopedia via the standard {{flag}}, {{flagicon}}, etc. templates. Please do not extend these templates excessively with extraneous information. Thanks — Andrwsc (talk · contribs) 20:54, 17 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I hope to have not been too excessive, but please let me know. Cheers, Pædia 21:02, 17 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No, not at all! I completely see that your efforts were good-faith edits. But one of the "guiding priciples", as it were, that we have at WP:WikiProject Flag Template is to keep things simple. There is still a tremendous amount of flag icon cleanup work to do, so your work is appreciated. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me or leave a message on the project talk page. — Andrwsc (talk · contribs) 21:55, 17 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Why did you just undo all the cleanup work I did? I think you misinterpreted my previous comments. I appreciate the flag template work you are trying to do, but those specific edits are unnecessary and excessive. Please keep flag template content limited to just the essential content. — Andrwsc (talk · contribs) 16:07, 18 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I still don't think you understand how these country data templates are used. The idea is to choose a template name that will be effectively used with {{flag}} (and possibly choose a shortname alias name that will be used with {{flagcountry}}). If you look at the hundreds of transclusions of the early flag variant of Template:Country data France, I have yet to find a single one that uses "Early Modern France" as the display text for the wikilink. Almost all instances use "France" with the occasional "Kingdom of France". Therefore, my move was intended to accomodate the most useful wiki markup, using either {{flagcountry|Kingdom of France}} or {{flag|Kingdom of France}} as desired. See this edit, for example. With your chosen name, editors would have to use {{flag|Early Modern France|name=France}} or {{flag|Early Modern France|name=Kingdom of France}}, both of which are awkward. Yes, I know there are other time periods where "Kingdom of France" is applicable, but the link to Kingdom of France (Early Modern) covers the vast majority of instances where a flag template would be used. We can do something else for the uncommon instances. — Andrwsc (talk · contribs) 17:17, 2 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 19:34, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
