Edit summaries

Hi FilmandTVFan28, I've seen a number of your edits on articles that we mutually edit, and I was hoping I could encourage you to start using edit summaries on a regular basis. For example in this edit you reverted an IP user, and I was able to understand why you did it, but having an explanation ("Reverting vandalism") is helpful for other editors. Thanks. Warning problem users

Hello there. Seeing some of the vandal fighting you've been doing, you should take a look at WP:UWS - if another editor (even an IP address) is making unhelpful edits, putting formal warning templates on their talk page will both (a) let them know what they're doing wrong and (b) allow other editors to see that a user has been given a warning and ignored it. If someone racks up four warnings and still continues ignoring them, you can then request that they be blocked by reporting them at WP:AIV. (I've just reported User:108.6.105.156 there, as he or she seems to be User:108.14.176.106 under a new IP address, so hopefully an admin will process that shortly - it's probably better to stop quickfire reverting the user for a little while, since they're obviously just firing edits straight back. In many cases the blocking admin will clean up any outstanding edits from the user.)

Let me know if you have any questions! --McGeddon (talk) 22:30, 19 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe WP:UWLS is a better link. The point is that you use the warning templates listed at WP:WARNING, you keep warning them every time they repeat the vandalism (with a higher level warning each time), and then list them yourself at WP:AIV (which anyone can file a report at) if they've continued to vandalise beyond a fourth, final warning. --McGeddon (talk) 08:15, 1 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure what's going on at Cyberchase, but just a reminder to use warnings (and/or edit summaries) when dealing with problem edits. And bear in mind that reverting back and forth over edits which aren't clear vandalism makes both you and the other editor subject to WP:3RR. --McGeddon (talk) 21:44, 29 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

hello. I see that you have edited and worked hard on articles dealing with television programming. I have a question, that I hope you can help me out with. Regarding the article "List of programs previously broadcast by American Broadcasting Company". I was trying to remember the name of a program on ABC...shown in New York, some years past, every Saturday at 12 noon. It was a talk show news philosophical type program.

I was wondering why that program (whatever the name was, that I can't recall right now), is not shown or mentioned anywhere in the WP article. It's one of those things that if I SAW the name somewhere, I would recall it. So I don't see it on the article. I was wondering and hoping if you might know what I'm referring to. It was on for YEARS...from what I remember, always on Saturday at 12 noon (at least shown in New York), on ABC...channel 7. I don't remember the name of the program for some reason. It was on in the 1990's, and into past 2000, I believe.

And it doesn't seem to be listed anywhere in the article, as there is no "Saturday afternoon" headings anywhere, or anything that I notice for it under "news and talk show" etc. I'm wondering why it's not there on the article. If I were to see the name of the show written somewhere, or mentioned to me, I would recall it immediately, as being the show. But I can't remember it right now off hand, and I don't see it anywhere on the WP article, for "past ABC programs". I hope you have an idea what I'm talking about, or know the program name in question. Please let me know. I would appreciate it. Thanks. Gabby Merger (talk) 02:29, 12 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Little Bear :)

The Anti-Vandalism Barnstar
I was going through my watch list and noticed that you edited the Little Bear (TV series) article, and one of your edits was reverting an IP edit. I was curious to see what the IP had done, so I compared revisions and noticed that the IP had completely vandalized the article, stating that the show was from the US instead of Canada in every single instance the location was mentioned. Max Steel

The series no longer airs on Disney XD. There is a consensus to consider shows not airing if episodes haven't aired in a year. It's no longer on the schedule, nor on the website. Dcbanners (talk) 11:32, 11 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe it is, maybe it's not. You don't know that for sure. As I said, there needs to be a reliable source if it truly is no longer airing on Disney XD and moved to Netflix. Until we know for sure, no one must make any changes on pages involving the show. — FilmandTVFan28 (talk) 18:34, 11 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

War of the Gargantuas

Not sure if I'm using this function correctly, but this matter should be addressed. The mention of the "dessicated hand in Pangboche" in the American cut of the film is a reference to an alleged yeti hand in a monastery in Nepal (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pangboche_Hand), which is relevant since there is a discussion of a humanlike monster in the mountains. The American version of the film excises all references to Frankenstein; there is no connection here with the severed Frankenstein hand in Frankenstein Conquers the World. That's why I deleted all mention of the alleged connection. Straydog4383 (talk) 02:58, 2 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Categories

Hi, saw your edit summary here. Though I appreciate the correction, and I have no plan to revert you, per WP:CAT we should only add categories if there is an obvious reason to do so. While you may have knowledge that Decode is related to DHX, it is not obvious. If you can help to fill in some of these information gaps by including sourced prose, that would be helpful. We have numerous vandal accounts that add incorrect categories and other content, and the only quick way to test the additions is to search the article. Another request to use edit summaries

Hi FilmandTVFan28, I notice that you've been busy reverting editors on a variety of childrens cartoon articles. I have seen a lot of vandalism on these articles in the past so I like to check up on who is performing the edit. Typical indicators that the editor is a vandal include large numbers of edits to these articles in a short period of time and a lack of sources or explanatory edit summary. Your recent edits match this profile to the letter. However your talk page shows that several members of the community have given you barnstars for fighting vandalism and there are other indicators that diverge from the typical vandal's profile (e.g. you actually seem to respond to comments sometimes and these vandals never do). So it seems apparent to me that you are not actually a vandal and in fact it looks like you were cleaning up vandalism in your recent edits. For that I thank you, but I wanted to reiterate the request several others have made above that you should use edit summaries to explain your edits so that they are not mistaken for vandalism. Thank you for considering my request. -Thibbs (talk) 13:00, 9 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I already learned to use edit summaries to explain my edits, thank you very much. — FilmandTVFan28 (talk) 18:46, 4 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Oh yes, I assumed that you knew how to use them. I guess the next step it to remember to use them. Thanks for your note on my talk page, by the way. I responded there as well. -Thibbs (talk) 10:33, 6 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Tokie Jokie

I agree that user's comment was inappropriate. The film is cited in the source, could you explain the removal? -- GreenC 21:29, 27 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

First of all, the spelling was wrong. It's Tokio Jokio, not Tokie Jokie. Second, how's is it possible that the short is in Public Domain if it's not featured on Bargain videotapes and DVDs? — FilmandTVFan28 (talk) 01:35, 28 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry about the spelling. A cited reliable source says "Tokio Jokio" is in the public domain. It can be purchased on this DVD and probably others, since it's in the PD. [3]-- GreenC 02:09, 28 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Well, if the list in the source says that it is in Public Domain, then go ahead and add it back in the list. — FilmandTVFan28 (talk) 05:34, 28 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Don't be such a fun pooper!

People like to put some things that aren't completely true. Putting every detail of each character gives the people an idea on what the character's true personality is, and putting season 3 and onward voices that aren't true give people hope for season 3 and wonder how the voice will do the character. I would even be fine with not putting fake actors in and just keeping the extra details that are true, like Shari's extreme personality, and Stephen's holiday oriented family, and Jenny's first tellings of Nick stories. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.217.85.217 (talk) 18:47, 5 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Anything that's considered fake can be removed. If you want add extra details, do it, just stop removing sourced info and stop adding actors that aren't in the show at all. — FilmandTVFan28 (talk) 19:27, 5 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I feel very stupid

I have had some very interesting thoughts over the time when I said some very out of line comments, and the present. I would like to sincerely and wholeheartedly apologize for my cruel and shallow remarks attacking your integrity, decency and dignity. I have been bothered by the fact that I never decided to do this, and I know that you would cross my mind on my deathbed if I didn't.

I frankly don't know what came over me. You've been a very active and dutiful Wikipedian in the time I've known you, and you should be commended for that.

Please disregard any out of place remark from me on any aspect of your character, it was foolish, insane, and perhaps just the lightest bit neurotic. It would be a shame for you to leave Wikipedia especially if it's on account of me.

If we ever do encounter another incident like the "crush" issue, I promise that the debate will be far more civil than that one. And I'm sure we'll reach a mutual agreement on whatever it may be.

But know, P.S., that I shall vigilantly keep watch for the day that some Jim Henson mogul makes the announcement that Shiny does, indeed, have a crush on Gilbert.

P.S.S., that was a pretty dadgum good compromise with "they often hang around each other". (And no, I'm not from the south, I just like to say "dadgum" sometimes.) - CharlieBrown25 (talk) 08:05, 30 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I was about to either vandalize your user page & say that you didn't leave Wikipedia or correct you & say that Neurones & funbag (two studios i added on a old Franklin revision) severed as additional animation facilities & neurones co-produced the show, it's that their logo failed to show up on earlier episodes, however, after reading some of your personal thoughts, i just felt really bad & wanted to apologize for being one of those people who get on your nerves. maybe we should start fresh, you know, get to know each other. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.132.238.192 (talk) 22:16, 13 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Your recent editing history at Wayward Pines shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. — TAnthonyTalk 19:40, 25 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Walt Disney Records discography

Please explain your revert here. For instance the "Snow White" soundtrack was issued on Victor records, not on Walt Disney Records (or Disneyland Records, as it was known until 1989). Disneyland Records was not formed until 1956, so please explain how a 1937 soundtrack was issued on a record company that did not exist yet. 78.26 (spin me / revolutions) 20:26, 2 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Stop reverting at Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends and discuss your changes on the article talk page to determine consensus. Otherwise you jeopardize your editing privilege. Tiderolls 18:23, 6 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 24 hours for edit warring, as you did at Santo Bugito. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by first reading the guide to appealing blocks, then adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.  Cyphoidbomb (talk) 20:44, 6 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

F&TVFan, it pains me to block you for edit-warring, because I believe you are a good editor. The edit-warring you've recently been involved in at a number of articles is in appropriate, and you went way overboard at Santo Bugito. At the first sign of resistance, you should open a discussion on the article's talk page, and drop a talkback on the IP's page. Wikipedia has no deadline, so if you have to wait a few days resolve a dispute, that's way more preferable than edit-warring. If the IP failed to respond after a reasonable amount of time, (maybe a few days) you could have reverted, and if they reverted you again, taking them to ANI would have been the way to go. Edit-warring is disruptive. If it's any consolation, I have blocked the IP for 3 months, because they have a long history of problematic, battleground edits, and they have previously been blocked as the result of CheckUser investigations, so they have probably run sock accounts in the past. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 20:54, 6 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

FilmandTVFan28 (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

I never meant to go overboard. That IP user kept me up all night with that activity. I was too cranky, I couldn't think straight and took the situation to the article's talk page sooner than later. I also didn't appreciate how it blames its actions on me instead of itself. — FilmandTVFan28 (talk) 10:09 pm, Yesterday (UTC+1)

Decline reason:

As explained at WP:NOTTHEM, you should be talking about what you did, not about what others did. I see no reason to unblock you. You keep insisting that you was right, and they were wrong, but actually edit warring is not allowed even when you are right. Vanjagenije (talk) 11:25, 7 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Edit warring again, this time at The Lion Guard

Yo man, you've got to chill with the edit-warring, like here at The Lion Guard. Nobody's going to die if the distributor information is missing for a few days. You should invite the IPv6 user to the discussion by using a Talkback template, because IP editors don't have watchlists and they're not likely to notice new edits on the talk page. If they hop IPs, invite the new IP. If they fail to discuss after a few days, you should be okay to re-add the info, and if they revert again, seek admin intervention. You have to be sure your behavior is better than their behavior. If you stoop to their level by warring, you're going to force an admin to slap you with a block like I had to do last time, because it's unfair to block one editor when both editors are not behaving properly. I have full faith that you'll get the hang of this. Also note that they've challenged you to provide a reference, so per WP:BURDEN you have to do that if the content is resubmitted. Help with cleaning up Jelly Jamm

In lieu of the persistent disruptive/non-sensical IP edits, the aricle is now semi-protected temporarily. This gives time and oppurtunity to mostly clean up the article without disruption. All that needs to be done is rewriting section-by-section into at least readable english, and if possible introduce more citations, so no knowledge of the show really needs to apply. Once it's in decent state, if any vandalism of the article continues it will be much more manageable and notable. I've seen you involved in preventing the vandalising of the article, I hope your interested in improving it. Thank you. Derick1259 (talk) 12:06, 19 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Personally I tried to expand the information on the film's home media releases but they are just too long for me to handle . Since you are obviously good with working on that I just thought I'd ask. Again thanks for the help.--Paleface Jack (talk) 16:24, 30 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If I can find the info needed for I Drink Your Blood, I might. — FilmandTVFan28 (talk) 00:32, 15 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

FilmandTVFan28 Information icon Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. Facing a possible Edit Dispute on DuckTales - September 2017

I got a problem on this article, and could do with someone looking over this. I recall that you removed certain cast members off the list for the DuckTales reboot, and so decided to accept your edit on this, and felt you might have some thoughts on this in regards to the cast list on DuckTales. Basically, an editor is putting in actors for characters who I consider minor characters, and who I feel shouldn't be included per WP:TVCAST. I was wondering if you could judge our edits, and determine who is correct, as they have reverted me twice now (and I have too with them), and fear this is going to be dragged into an edit dispute, possibly an edit war, which I don't want to be involved in. I would really appreciate another's input on this. GUtt01 (talk) 15:59, 28 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Categories

Please note. The IP was "children's" to articles for shows that were not just for children. Most were written for people of all ages. Also note that the changes were violating WP:CATDEF as there was no sourced info in the articles to support the change. Thanks for your time. MarnetteD|Talk 00:52, 10 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Well I see this is a bigger problem than just your edits as there are all sorts of unsourced categories in these articles. Its not the biggest mistake on Wikipedia but most of these shows are not just for children. I know you are doing what you think is right, I would just ask that you remember this point from CATDEF - "Categorization of articles must be verifiable. Edits from 172.58.3.106 (vandalism?)

I saw you undo an edit by https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/172.58.3.106 with a warning. They have a few other edits to a few pages listed on their contributions that are nonsensical (the ones that list future dates and related to Nirvana). If you could look into it that would be perfect! I don't know much about the blocking project, I just noticed that they are vandalizing pages I was using for a project.

This edit looks like you were taunting them. I don't think it's appropriate to go to their talk page and declare your dislike for their attitude, then ask their page to be protected when they revert your edit and complain that your edit was not appropriate. Certainly they can remove talk page comments. Saying you are not an admin is not a personal attack. -- Dlohcierekim (talk) 20:25, 23 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

December 2017

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on The Mr. Peabody & Sherman Show. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Sakura CarteletTalk 22:49, 7 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. Damon Runyon's short story "Dancing Dan's Christmas" is a fun read if you have the time. Right from the start it extols the virtues of the hot Tom and Jerry

This hot Tom and Jerry is an old-time drink that is once used by one and all in this country to celebrate Christmas with, and in fact it is once so popular that many people think Christmas is invented only to furnish an excuse for hot Tom and Jerry, although of course this is by no means true.

No matter what concoction is your favorite to imbibe during this festive season I would like to toast you with it and to thank you for all your work here at the 'pedia this past year. Best wishes for your 2020 as well F. MarnetteD|Talk 20:13, 18 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Additional info about Sofia the First vandalism

The same person who has been falsifying information about which actress voices Sofia the First and putting Sofia in Monsters, Inc. or Monsters at Work has been doing the same thing over on Fandom wiki under a variety of IP addresses and a few accounts, going back to about April 2019.

To assist with detecting this person's vandalism, here are some of their tactics:

  • Changing the voice actress for Sofia the First.
  • Attempting to put this character into the Monsters franchise. The specific name varies, such as Sofia Balthazar or Sofia Cordova.
  • Putting in that actresses have died. Actresses listed so far include Hailee Steinfeld, Heather Langenkamp.
  • Adding a long list of the same actors and actresses as being in a TV show they haven't been in. Some of the names include Zendaya, Vanessa Hudgens, Maisie Williams, Rebel Wilson, Ariel Winter and Zac Efron.
  • Special interest in Ariel Winter, Heather Langenkamp and Zendaya. (As in, their pages are targeted, or information is altered on other pages to add or remove their name.)

In the few times I have attempted to communicate with them about putting Sofia in the "Monsters" franchise, their responses have indicated that they want her to be in there so much that they will keep trying to force it to be true to the point where it's clear it's vandalism.

If you have any questions, let me know. —RRabbit42 (talk) 23:20, 22 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Stop yelling at the vandal, you're giving him what he wants.

He knows he's triggering you so he's gonna keep shifting IPs to vandalize Splash and Bubbles to continue getting a reaction. Gatemansgc (TɅ̊LK) 03:10, 1 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It just really hurts that that user never learned to keeps its opinions on eels (especially fictional ones) to itself. — FilmandTVFan28 (talk) 03:16, 1 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Goddess Of Spring

Well I wanted to add that fact because it is important to note. It has indeed gained a cult following and I wanted to add that fact. Fan remakes are what makes the history of the short. It’s a fact of legacy and how it garnered a following within the generation. Amadeus, The Unknown Author (talk) 03:33, 27 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Template groups

Could you please tell me how to make a new group in a template? I'm trying to do that for the live-action remakes that are exclusive to Disney+ like Lady and the Tramp. -- Cody Fearless-Lee (talk) - 12:45AM - August 14, 2020

Knowledge Kids and Treehouse

I'm about to drop a few blocks; User:Alvin223 is one of them. If you happen to know who this might be, it's worthwhile starting an SPI if there isn't one yet. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 01:09, 29 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the AIV report, I've blocked the new IP and semi-protected the page for a week. Don't let these time-wasters bother you, you're helping and they aren't! Cheers for your efforts. ~ mazca talk 20:35, 2 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Apology

Look I’m sorry I don’t want to be disruptive to anyone I’m sorry okay. I did those edits before because I thought they were right and felt they deserved it. And I felt like my ability to do something was being taken away. Just block me out if you hate me now I won’t bother anyone again if that’s what you want I’m sorry. 0Detail-Attention215 (talk) 21:40, 23 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • I don’t expect you to believe me or not hate me anymore I just wanted to do what was right by apologizing before my page will be shut down. 0Detail-Attention215 (talk) 22:25, 23 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
