Hi

You seem to be youngish. You're 13 and I'm twelve. I was wondering if you wanted to get some youth wiki thing up again. I think there might have been one at one point. Thanks. Me what do u want? Your Hancock Please 14:17, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

Wha? :) CWii(Talk|Contribs) 14:59, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

JohnBot

I got here via an indirect, so I hope you are the director of JohnBot.

When JohnBot adds the WPschools template to the discussion page of school-related articles, could it please also include the needs-infobox string, like this:
{{WPSchools|class= |importance= |needs-infobox=yes}}

That would make it easier (and with fewer mistakes) when someone later adds the infobox to the article; all they would have to do is change "yes" to "no". Thanks, and happy editing. Truthanado (talk) 22:56, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

Hey!

Hello John,

Thanks for the message. I saw your great page now.

You have made a vast number of contributions on Wikipedia.

I want to add you as a friend on here. You can put your trust in me. I am here to contribute worthy relevant information only.

I have a lot of knowledge in things, but I can't go through my clippings as I made a big move over the sea to another country.

Everything was rushed in a moments notice.

I appreciate you help when I need it.

Thanks so much, James Electric Japan (talk) 01:15, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

Glad to see you're back

Thanks :) CWii(Talk|Contribs) 01:57, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
I didn't get a chance to say it - I was a little distraught when I saw what happened (to all sides actually). I'm glad you decided to return. If you get frustrated in the future like that, I recommend just simply walking away from the computer for like 24 hours straight to take a Wiki-break. Cheers! Your recent bot approvals request has been approved. Please see the request page for details. When the bot flag is set it will show up in this log. SQLQuery me! 16:05, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Userbox migration

I've been working on some userbox migration, I was just wondering if you could explain your edit summaries on Template:User Loves Pomeranian ? Cheers, xenocidic (talk) 14:38, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

I was doing prep work for John Bot, but that task is now deprecated. CWii(Talk|Contribs) 18:28, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
Gotcha. I'll proceed with manual migration. Thanks. xenocidic (talk) 18:45, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Windows XP Tablet PC Edition Logo.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Windows XP Tablet PC Edition Logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. Speedy deletion of Anti-Executable

A tag has been placed on Anti-Executable, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read our the guidelines on spam as well as the Wikipedia:Business' FAQ for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Dougie WII (talk) 00:44, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

I have some pics that say the tag is missing, bla bla. Thier is no information tellin you how to actualy do it! All of my pics should have the one where you need to give me credit for the pic but have fully any right to use it. Also its under "self made" or something along that line. How do I add a missing tagg before the pics are deleted? Its no biggie if they are Ill just re-add them with the tagg. Its just the principal of the matter. John bot request

Hi,

Another stub categorisation request: Would you mind terribly if you used John Bot to place all articles in Category:Paleontology_stubs into WikiProject Geology, by tagging their talk pages with the following code: {{WikiProject Geology|class=stub|importance=|auto=yes}}

Many thanks!

Sorry, I'm a little busy right now, I will when I can. CWii(Talk|Contribs) 16:22, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

Just out of curiosity, did you try asking the user to remove the poems from webspace before nominating the page for deletion? It's a little BITEy, don't you think? I'm going to decline the speedy for now and suggest that you open dialogue before readding it. - Philippe 22:29, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

Hey, Compwhiz guy,
Don't you think you should notify me before you try to get my poetry page deleted? I mean, I think I should know about stuff that has to deal with me before you do it. Also, I'm not to pleased that you deleted nearly half or my page. I don't think I did anything wrong!
Please notify me next time!

Okay, I read the rule you claim I violated. I put that section on there so other users can see who I am, not because I think of it as some sort of MySpace! I know what & what not to do on my pages. And, about my poetry, I'm expressing my feelings in poem form. I don't think anything is wrong about that. Just don't try getting my page deleted again!
Peace Out! :-)

Hi, when User:John Bot III is marking untagged image, could it remember to put the date parameters in? Otherwise it's just dumping them in Category:Images with no copyright tag as of unknown date 2008. That image for example should have been deleted a while ago. John Bot query

Hi, I see this bot has been tagging many articles for the Geology wikiproject lately. I can't see why it has added this tag to Talk:North Island Takahē and Talk:North Island Broad-billed Moa, though. Is it perhaps because they're in Category:Late Quaternary prehistoric birds? That doesn't seem like a very good reason; some of the birds in there are known through subfossil remains, bones, or unconfirmed eyewitness reports, and clearly have nothing to do with geology. -- Avenue (talk) 11:27, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

Uh-oh. One sec, I'll fix this.... CWii(Talk|Contribs) 15:59, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

Could you please?

Get your bot to stop tagging the Ward Hill Lamon grave picture? I took the picture, therefore I hold the copyright to it. Y5nthon5a (talk) 19:12, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi there! Your picture needs a copyright tag to be valid. And please don't remove tags the bot has added. CWii(Talk|Contribs) 19:53, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

John Bot III – Help required!

Hi there. John Bot III is the second Bot to query my use of 2 images of Heath Fritillary. After the images were Bot-deleted on Commons, I posted messages and sought advice on posting them on Wikipedia. I followed the advice.

The images are taken from the equivalent page on the Hungarian Wiki with the full knowledge and approval of the originator. What is more the originator has released the images as "copyright-free".

Please, please, please do not let John Bot III or any Administrator delete these images. They are valid.

If there is something missing from the copyright pages, please contact me via my Talk page, and guide me through the process of fixing the issue that "upset" John Bot III.

Why did it go around mass tagging talk pages for deletion? Kwsn (Ni!) 21:44, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

  • A bot added {{WikiProject Geology}} to some talk pages about extinct ammonites, and then changed that to a speedy delete tag. It might be worthwhile to add {{CephalopodTalk}} to all the talk pages for ammonites. --Eastmain (talk) 22:32, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
There was a bug in the tagging code, so it was requesting that the mistagged and now empty pages be deleted. CWii(Talk|Contribs) 14:29, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

JohnBot III

Hi there. Could you take a quick look at User talk:Bellwether BC and in particular at the page history? It seems that your bot is repeating talk page messages when the uploader removes the tags from the images. Rather than doing this mindlessly, could you program the bot to leave a different message when it detects such behaviour, and to also ask a human to help deal with the situation? In this case, many of the images are free (some form of creative commons license from Flickr). I've tried to help, but the editor in question (Bellwether) is gettting discouraged by this. Could you help out? Carcharoth (talk) 03:16, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

Okay. I think I'm going to code an opt-out list. CWii(Talk|Contribs) 14:12, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for this. I've replied over there. I think we will eventually be able to get these pictures under a free license. Could you suggest a holding pen for them in the meantime? Wouldn't want to waste the time of an admin clearing that category, or my time in undeleting later. Maybe untag and retag with a PUI tag and move the discussion to WP:PUI or some other noticeboard? Hello!

—Preceding unsigned comment added by Cream (talkcontribs)

Hi,

John Bot III is continually adding irrelevant messages to my talk page regarding the image Image:Deangelo.jpg. The bot claims that I didn't include copyright information on the image.

While there is currently no copyright information for the image, I did provide copyright information initially. However, the copyright info, as well as the image itself, was overwritten several times by other people. I have no idea where the new image came from, do not know who replaced it, and didn't even know it was overwritten until the bot pointed it out the first time.

Perhaps you might consider updating the bot to post messages on the talk page of the most recent editor of an image, rather than the talk page of the user who first uploaded the image? That way, the person who is most qualified to provide copyright information can be notified of the need to provide it.

Thanks,

--Quintin3265 (talk) 15:33, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi there. After looking at your talk page history, John Bot III only edited it once. Notifing the original editor because it would not make sense to notify editor #2 if they vandalized or removed the tag. Thanks for the feedback. CWii(Talk|Contribs) 19:30, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
I apologize for the confusion; that must have been another bot. About a year ago I noticed a big increase in the number of bots running around tagging or even listing images for deletion based on copyright information. It wasn't until now, though, that this particular image keeps getting flagged by several bots. Maybe you should notify both the original editor as well as the most recent contributor to an image, to cover both points? --Quintin3265 (talk) 15:24, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

Lunar Image

Your bot is messaging me about not having a copyright tag on one of my Images

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Lunar2007_029.jpg

The image is mine and has been properly tagged for ages, please stop your bot bugging me and make sure the image IS NOT deleted. I don't know about other people, but I am getting sick of my time being wasted by bots that do not work properly, if you can't maintain it properly then stop it. Thank you PrivateWiddle (talk) 14:35, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

Fixed. Please be civil and don't attack me. Good golly, CWii(Talk|Contribs) 21:48, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

Please explain which bit of what I said is a personal attack? The image IS mine, I AM sick of continually having to fend off attacks on my legitimate contributions and i DO wish that people would would maintain their bots properly or stop them continually harassing people.

None of this is personal, if you feel irritated then imagine how others feel when they log in after a week away and find their photographs deleted and articles they have spent hours contributing to deleted for no good reason and intimidating messages left on their user page.

This is the third time in the last month that I have had to deal with this type of nonsense. Check my photo, check that it is tagged and then explain to me why I am engaged in this complete waste of my time.

Wikipedia used to be fun, now it is getting to the point where I am afraid to contribute. You don't own this site, and you can't expect to go around randomly leaving threatening messages on people's contributions and then act all surprised when they comment on your behaviour.

I have never put copyrighted material on this site, vandalised other people's work or knowingly put incorrect information on it. Yet I have spent more time this year dealing with unwarranted attacks by bots and over-officious and self appointed people who (it has to be said) need to get out more, than I have actually spent contributing to the site.

In all three of the last instances I have done nothing wrong. The last one was from an American who deleted an entire article because he did not understand its context because it related to something outside the USA. Even though it was fully referenced with UK government data and contained nothing that was not already in the public domain.

I took that image of the eclipse myself, it was tagged by me months ago and this is the last time I expect to have to discuss this.

Thank you. PrivateWiddle (talk) 12:50, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

I'm trying to keep my cool here but it's becoming difficult. Let me explain. All images must have a copyright tag in the image page, which you did, except it was substituted. I have fixed it now so there shouldn't be anymore problems. The bot is coded to check for the existence of a template, and if it doesn't find one it will tag and notify the uploader so that he or she can fix the image (since they know they copyright) without any surprises. As for the message it gives you I have made myself so it is less intimidating but friendly and still gets the message across. I you can point out what is wrong with it please tell me and I could fix it.
The attack warning was more a reminder than a warning. The Bull. No it is tagged properly, go away is a violation of WP:CIVIL. I am now asking for your further cooperation in this matter. If there is still a problem I could bring in additional opinions of other editors if you wish. Thanks again, CWii(Talk|Contribs) 16:09, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

Bot Africa assessments

Can you halt the Africa Project assesments and take a look at the logs? The bot appears to be "preparing" the assessments by removing previous assessments. In some case thais happens AFTER the same bot has auto placed stub assessments (I assume following topic stub tags). The upshot it that the bot is removing AP assessmements and leaving previously assessed articles unassessed. see this and this as recent examples.

Please stop the bot and take a look. T L Miles (talk) 13:34, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

Thank you, I will fix that bug when I have the chance and before I run the bot again. CWii(Talk|Contribs) 15:58, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

On related note, the bot also appears to be rather generous with assessments in some cases - I'm not sure why it assessed this as b-class (unless it simply took the last letter from the word stub and used it as class): [1] Cheers, – Sadalmelik (talk) 17:36, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

New Project

Myself and several other editors have been compiling a list of very active editors who would likely be available to help new editors in the event they have questions or concerns. As the list grew and the table became more detailed, it was determined that the best way to complete the table was to ask each potential candidate to fill in their own information, if they so desire. This list is sorted geographically in order to provide a better estimate as to whether the listed editor is likely to be active.

If you consider yourself a very active Wikipedian who is willing to help newcomers, please either complete your information in the table or add your entry. If you do not want to be on the list, either remove your name or just disregard this message and your entry will be removed within 48 hours. The table can be found at User:Useight/Highly Active, as it has yet to have been moved into the Wikipedia namespace. Thank you for your help. Useight (talk) 17:16, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

Old deleted images.

Two images your bot deleted like almost a month ago:

I don't remember whether I put the copyright info there or not, but it's strange that they'd be caught so late, because generally images that don't have such information are caught by bots very soon. Those images were added a long time ago.

I don't remember what "Wpatitsfinest" was and I'd appreciate it if you could undelete it, so that I could see it in order to remember what it was. As for the liberty bell photo, from what I remember, it was simply clipped from an image already held by Wikimedia.   Zenwhat (talk) 02:28, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi there! The bot is special as it can find older images that have not been tagged. As for undeletion, contact your nearest admin. CWii(Talk|Contribs) 18:10, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
As you can see, I've restored both images for you. I have _not_ removed the I4 tags, so you need to do that and add the licensing/source info if you want them to stick around. :-) - KrakatoaKatie 21:57, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

  • Re-delete libertybellsmall. I thought I took it from the commons, but I can't find the exact image there anymore and there are other images up there. Plus, I don't really need it.   Zenwhat (talk) 22:52, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

High school

Where did you go to high school? All of the high schools in my area blocked all the major search engines and web sites. Toward the end of my senior year (4 years ago), mine got rid of the blacklist system because they were literally adding 9, 10 sites a day to it and started using the filter as a whitelist; i.e, "They can visit the following sites, but not any other ones". It was a really bad state of affairs. Celarnor Talk to me 20:34, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

Meh, I'm in JHS. We use iPrism, it's okay but it's a bitch to avoid. Sine they block GMail I can't send e-mails to teachers. Yeah a whitelist is complete bullshit. I'd go on a rampage if that happened. CWii(Talk|Contribs) 20:39, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi, just seen a couple of examples of John Bot adding wikiproject templates to talk pages. One of these being Talk:Genealogy software where the template is added to the top of the page without a linefeed at the end of it. Thus the template ends up with the first section heading next to it on the same line and the heading does not show up as a heading. Regards. Keith D (talk) 23:52, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

Suspicious JohnBot tagging of talk pages for wikiprojects

Any idea why pages like Yellowman and Maria Orsitsch (just as an example) would be tagged by your bot as part of the WikiProject Genetics? I've temporarily blocked the bot for now. Hi. How was I breaking teh formatting? It looks fine on my browser. I don't have one of those StatusBot thingies, and I want to still show whether or not I'm online. I added the <br /><br /> so it wouldn't overlap with the others'. Is there a way I can still add my status changer box, so that it doesn't break teh formatting, such as making it smaller, or perhaps formatting it so that it resembles the StatusBot symbols? Hi. After some experimentation, I came up with this (check my contributions). Am I missing something, because it won't display on HAU but I can now get it to display the in busy out and change the HAUStatus? Also, is the HAU supposed to be colour-and-box-free, or can I add some kind of X or + design, and can I use my normal status on my userpage but HAUStatus on HAU, or should I try making a StatusBot thingy and how does that work? Rushden & Diamonds

Hi,

Thankyou for your earlier message and I will take it onboard. I'm wondering whether it would be possible to lock the Rushden & Diamonds article for several days due to some defacing of it that appears to have been caused by a rival football club's fan. I have removed all the comments that they added.

example of what was added:

Unfortunately this season may well be the clubs last after recent allegations have suggested that Keith Cousins has entered financial difficulties and as a result may soon be having to withdraw the money which he had invested into the club. Some fans are now increasingly concerned because it is unlikely that they will be a particularly attractive prospect for any potential new investors, due to their location and also their non league postion.

WikiProject Automobiles particulars

The users involved are, and my appologies if I misspell the user names, are IFCAR, Scheinwerfermann, Daniel. J. Levick, PrinceGloria, 842U (and discovered sockpuppets) and myself. IFCAR, Scheinwerfermann are the primary opponents that decide which images will be used, and new editors who disagree will be informed how things are done at this project concerning automobiles.

Their are multiple examples listed on IFCAR's talk page, where other editors found cause to disagree with that editor, and he simply reverts to his edit and warns the other editor of the 3RR rule to win his position. I've had objections with that editor as well, and simply gave in. This time, the objection was between 842U and IFCAR, and I decided to contribute to the dispute between them.

IFCAR moved the discussion to the project talk page, Scheinwerfermann seemed to assume the role of mediator (with bias) and the debate began. Consensus, according to these editors, is based on what the larger group says it is and the minority, as can be seen in the discussion, is disregarded. Policy was written to the conventions page while the debate and consensus vote was still going on. 842U then began to use sockpuppets to show dissent, but he was discovered and reported by Scheinwerfermann, which led to his block. Scheinwerfermann then proceeded to strike all comments made by 842U for an unknown reason, as if to relegate that editors comments and dissenting point-of-view as invalid.

Scheinwerfermann seems to advocate that Wikipedia is a burearucracy,

"What you are dismissing as a "bureaucratic approach" is, like it or not, how Wikipedia works. We have protocols and procedures and in the event of a disagreement, we follow them. But if whoever has a disagreement will dismiss the procedures and protocols as bureaucratic nonsense, then the problem won't get solved. Nobody will press your point for you; if you see something wrong and want it fixed, you will have to engage and participate directly, and the only productive way to do so is within Wikipedia's structure, however unnecessarily bureaucratic you may misperceive it to be."

I assumed that he was correct until I contacted an administrator that blocked 842U for sockpuppetry, Tiptoety. I asked that admin for advice and received a reply that Wikipedia is not a bureaucracy and voting is acknowledged but not encouraged with the results not necessarily binding, and then posted in links to those official policies found at "What Wikipedia is not". At one point the definition of consensus was being debated, so I went to a dictionary to learn what the word meant, and was rebuffed because the definition conflicted with the objectives of the other side.

My primary objection in this debate isn't necessarily the subject used for the image. Whatever contributes effectively to the article is the primary purpose. I object, however, to the "rulling counsel" approach that seems evident to me and the process of re-educating new editors how things are done at this project.

A editor who uses the name "walltowallcarpeting" left me a message on my talk page.

Here's the message verbatim, "Scheinwerfermann isn't impartial.

He made the final edit to the Subaru Forester article at IFCAR's request -- to keep IFCAR from crossing the 3RR threshold. You can find this on S's talk page. May 12th. Scheinwerfermann has since "edited" this request form his talk page -- check the history.

This kept IFCAR from having to participate further in and Edit War. Scheinwerfermann accused 842U of participating in an WP:EW (edit war)and with WP:3RR (three revert rule)... and didn't accuse IFCAR of either of those things... though he was possibly just as guilty. In fact, Scheinwerfermann did exactly what it would take to interced on IFCAR's behalf, so IFCAR couldn't be accused further of either of those.

It's possible that if someone less beurocratic and more impartial were "moderating" the discussion... it might go more smoothly.

You need to find a way for Scheinwerfer to ease out of the discussion and find someone else to "open a consensus conversation." Pass this specific info on to your moderator request discussion.

The issue of the lead photo might be small, but the issue of balance and fairness is very important -- if Scheinwerfermann (as the 'moderator') had acted impartially from the beginning, perahps the conversation would have gone differently.

You can demonstrate that the "moderator" of the discussion had a position on the issue that made him pre-disposed not to hear the folks wanting a flexible convention.

The simple question re the lead photo convention: can the conventions be written to allow EITHER a lead photo of a very current generation with glare and background distraction if that photo is of a just released automobile OR a glare and background distraction free photo of an older generation. Keep it flexible. Good luck."

Retrieved from "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Dddike"

Dddike, I'm not impartial, that's correct. In fact, I have never asserted impartiality. None of us is impartial, because we are all human. One of the reasons we have the consensus doctrine on Wikipedia so that all contributors' partiality is more or less cancelled out. I took on a facilitating role in the conversation — also correct. In no way did I try to exclude those whose opinions differ from my own; take note that I specifically invited interested editors to participate whose opinion very obviously was counter to my own. Fact is, you are the only adherent to the position that a relatively poor-quality photo of a newest-model vehicle should be regarded as equal to a relatively high-quality photo of an earlier-model vehicle in auto article lead infoboxes. You are the only participant in the debate who does not agree with the consensus. All the other dissenters are either known or strongly suspected (and reported) sockpuppets of 842U (talk · contribs), as is this new Walltowallcarpeting (talk · contribs) user. That doesn't mean you're wrong, and it doesn't mean your opinion is worthless. It's just that one of the realities of Wikipedia's consensus-based decisionmaking is that sometimes we don't agree with the consensus that develops. There comes a point, which by most opinions you have passed, when the appropriate thing to do is gracefully accept that your view does not accord with the consensus and move on to more productive contributions to the encyclopædia.
As for my edit to the lead photo in Subaru Forester, yep, I did make that edit. IFCAR (talk · contribs) did draw my attention to the photo, but he certainly didn't force me to make the edit or manipulate me into doing so. My agreement with his assessment of the relative quality of the two images in question does not mean I'm nefariously in cahoots with IFCAR, it just means I agree that his preference is more in line than yours with Wikipedia image policy. Sometimes an edit war can be cooled down if a third party comes in and makes an edit, thus taking away the urge to revert retributively on principle rather than on the merits of the particular edit in question. As a checkuser or simple contrib scrutiny clearly shows, I'm no lapdog of IFCAR's. He has asked me on occasion to do this or that specific thing; most often my answer has been "no" — especially recently when he has asked me to circumvent Wikipedia protocol and process relative to the discussion about lead photo images in auto articles. Likewise, I recently asked him for his input (in those terms) on a matter unrelated to the lead photo debate, and the input he provided went against my preferences. That is fine with me; I asked for (and got) his input, not his shillwork. The goal is not for one editor's opinion or preference to "win" over another's, but to improve the encyclopædia through community-supported consensus, which — I hasten to remind you — does not mean, require, or imply unanimity according to the definition we use here on Wikipedia (notwithstanding the contextually irrelevant dictionary definition you are pushing).
Finally, your suggestion I altered my talk page to hide some nefarious collusion with IFCAR is not only silly — anyone can see his request with just a couple of mouseclicks; there's nothing hidden here, and regular archiving of talk pages is utterly routine on Wikipedia — but it's also more than a little ironic given your tendency to delete critical comments from your own talk page shortly after they're posted, replacing their content with "messages read". Given this longstanding pattern of yours, I might just as easily ask you what you feel you have to hide. Baseless accusations and insinuations won't get either of us anywhere, so I suggest we both avoid them. —Scheinwerfermann (talk) 20:14, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

Genetics tagging...

Copied from Wikipedia:Bot_requests#Category:Genetics_tagging ... Sorry to bug you, I was wondering if this bot was run again? I see Age at first marriage got tagged on May 18 and it clearly doesn't belong. Did someone give you a list of categories somewhere? Madeleine 16:54, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

No, I ran the bot to tag subcats and sub-subcats of genetics. For the most part it worked okay. CWii(Talk|Contribs) 19:47, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
If this is true, I can't figure out how you ended up tagging all the articles in Category:Population. Even if it was working on only sub & sub-sub categories, you have picked up things from Category:Paternity, Category:Race and intelligence controversy. This is a lot of stuff to clean up, and I'm not sure where it ends since I can't tell how the Population category got in the mix. Can you undo what you've done here? Need Help

Just created an account on Wikipedia for the first time and want to help edit articles, especially on tv series. Hello CWii, I really need your help to stop this user User:Maurice45 from removing plot summaries, he just removes them for no reason. He thinks they are just fairy tales (when everyone knows that plot is not an episode synopsis). Can you please tell me how to stop this user from removing necessary info. I have also visted his talk page, where couple of other users have talked to him on the same issue, but this user says,"I will go over my edits and rewrite them all" I don't know when he is going to do that because so far he is busy removing (vandalizing) articles. Just to make sure, I have read some of these plots, and they are perfectly okay to meet wikipedia standards (not copy infringments, not personal views, not episode synopsis) and I don't know why he wants to rewrite them. So can you please help me solve this issue because plot summaries/concept is very important otherwise the article about the TV series is worthless. I hope you will help out! Please Please Please! I haven't removed anything in a while so why am I being warned? --Maurice45 (talk) 12:58, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

Okay, but I still feel (no, wait, I KNOW) I don't deserve a warning for something I have not done in a while. WHY, I ask again, am I being targeted long after I have stopped???????

--Maurice45 (talk) 18:04, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

That's still not a good enough reason to be given a warning NOW! I am not a VANDAL!. And just so you know I wasn't VANDALISING pages as you said I was. I was trying to remove all useless information (containing heavy POV) and poor grammar --Maurice45 (talk) 18:21, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

Notification of Complaint

Swearing, mediation and dispute resolution - Attachment theory

   * KingsleyMiller (initiator)
   * Martinp23 (Administrator and member of the Wikipedia Mediation Committee)
   * CWii

[edit] Statement by User:KingsleyMiller

There is an unofficial policy operating in Wikipedia which condones the use of bad language ie swearing. The Wikipedia Administrator with the user name Martinp23 used the F word whilst editing (LINK). Wikipedia Administrators do not have special privileges and if other Editors can see Martinp23 get away with this form of intimidation they will feel there is nothing to stop them from doing so also. In this case the Editor with the user name CWii felt free to follow suit (LINK). CWii followed this with a warning to me about my behaviour on my user page (LINK). Martinp23 has also made comments about 'banging heads together' and that he knows this 'sort of dispute'(LINK). For somebody sitting on the Wikipedia Mediation Committee to make such comments without knowing the facts of the case is inappropriate.

I am asking the Arbitration Committee to decide that Martinp23 and CWii be restricted from any discussion in which I am also involved as well as any other sanction that may be appropriate. If no sanction is deemed necessary I should like the policy of swearing to be formally adopted by Wikipedia so that individual Editors may be prepared to know what to expect when they challenge the established status quo.

Hello yet again. I regretfully inform you that the bot we were using to update the user status at Wikipedia:Highly Active Users, SoxBot V, was blocked for its constant updating. With this bot out of operation, a patch is in the works. Until that patch is reviewed and accepted by the developers, some options have been presented to use as workarounds: 1) Qui monobook (not available in Internet Explorer); 2) User:Hersfold/StatusTemplate; 3) Manually updating User:StatusBot/Status/USERNAME; or 4) Not worry about it and wait for the patch to go through, which hopefully won't take long. If you have another method, you can use that, too. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Useight (talk) 17:50, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
