I am aware of the poisoning story, and of a story saying he died or malaria in (a) the Gwayi Valley and (b) the Zambezi Valley - and even a story saying he escaped safely into Zambia. None of the stories when I read them had anything more than speculation - so if you know more I would be delighted to learn.
That said, the way this encyclopedia works is that each fact entered into the encyclopedia must be backed up with a citation - a reference to a source (written or online) where that fact has been verified. That's how the section on Memphis in the D Mafa article has been (re)written. That's just the rules they made here.Babakathy (talk) 21:17, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

Interesting observation?

For Your Entertainment: The plot thickens! "User:Rhodesscholar2", (who professes to be Mcmillan), has vandalised my user page referring to comments addressed to D. Mafa! As you have identified, something really strange is going on there, particularly as McMillan has claimed to be in DC, and D Mafa claims to be in Memphis ... I've decided that this is all an enormous waste of my time. (Clearly, this person not only doesn't appreciate the effort you and I are going to on their behalf, but doesn't realise that is what we are doing, and seems to resent it!) Hence, I will reduce my involvement in this matter to as close to zero as my personality will allow. Re: Geochronology

Yeah - no problem - and thanks for your patience and hard work as well - you did more than me! As to occupation, you got it - I'm a process sedimentologist, and I worry about things like river channel change and its effect on land-use... I also think about deposition in deltas and stratigraphy, and more recently I've been working on glaciers, and on landscape response to climate change. And speaking of work - that's awesome that you're working on hydrology in Zimbabwe! That must be really easily applied. Awickert (talk) 04:50, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

Difficulty of field work - yes, wow, I can't imagine. I have no love for Mugabe. I'm just starting my PhD, so I don't have a field site yet; I'm probably going to be doing some things in Northern Canada, Alaska, or Wyoming (USA) - and a lot of numerical modeling. And I didn't even do field hydrology as an undergrad - I worked on experimental river channel systems at the St. Anthony Falls Laboratory in Minneapolis, MN, USA (http://www.safl.umn.edu). Another country outline draft has been moved to article space!

I noticed you are a member of Wikipedia:WikiProject Zimbabwe. Here is something that improves organization of and access to that subject on Wikipedia...

Topic outline of Zimbabwe is completed enough that it is now in article space. It still needs images and some bluelinking, and is undoubtedly missing some relevant links.

Please take a look at it. You will no doubt spot things you can easily fix that the rest of us overlooked or haven't gotten to yet.

Tourist boat on the Luangwa

Hi, I reverted your addition of the boat image on the Luangwa. This boat trip is most likely on the Zambesi (or possibly on the Kafue). The Luangwa does not AFAIK have the sufficient depth to host tourist boats. Regards. Lycaon (talk) 13:31, 20 November 2008 (UTC)

I used Inkscape - tricky to get to grips at first but fine when you know what you're doing. We need to reduce the size of the history article dramatically on the main Zimbabwe page, while expanding the Administration areas & health sections. Hey. I've had a look at your sterling work on the admin section. I had to remove the list of the provinces for GA, hence the fact that they were written into the prose. Please could you try and blend them back in otherwise we won't get FA and may lose GA. I understand it's a work in progress but this is just a heads up. Right, I had a play around, and decided that your idea of tables worked best so have consolodated the information into a table. Also changed the map as I didn't really like the old one- it wasn't as clear as it could have been. I don't know whether it would be an idea to remove the districts on the new map? Maybe make it clearer? Although at the same time this isn't the Simple English page. It might be an idea to try (as difficult as it probably is knowing Zimbabwe websites) to try and find some sources for the stuff you have written in the admin section as there are those fusspots who need everything verified even though it is common knowledge. Will have a play around with the map when I am at home on my normal computer with the appropriate software tomorrow. There is still much work to be done on the Cholera page before we can even think about nominating the page for GA status and most importantly - the information has to be stable for some time, i.e. "new" information can't have been added to the article for some time - only proof edits as such. What district is Mvuma in exactly for me to amend the main Zim map? I have had a look but I can't pin point the district precisely enough to mark the map. Re Rhodesia Operational Areas map

Thanks for catching the spelling error on the map. It's been corrected with the latest revision.

The operational area boundaries sometimes but did not always correspond to provincial boundaries. For example, Matableleand North and Matabeleland South were mostly covered by Tangent, and Midlands contained portions of Grapple, Thrasher, Repulse and Tangent. If you'd like I can email you a scanned image of the source map from the book "Counter-Insurgency in Rhodesia" by J.K. Cilliers. Pjones (talk) 00:46, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

I note the recent increase in UZ-related articles as well as a vast improvement of the native article, though personal bias seems to have crept in as demonstrated by many geology/engineering associated photos. WOW, superb, unbelievable about sums my analysis. The section on 'location' appears a shade dubious - it almost repeats, initially, what is in the introduction. The use of tables and photos is judicious though one anticipates at least photo(s) of university buildings (not your fault). Perhaps a bit more on what UZ has done on the iternational arena. Curiously most of the faculty, alumni and events are from the post independence era? I like the way you turned lists into attractive prose. On the whole an exceptional improvement! Your recent edits (world rankings) have largely met my concerens about 'international arena'. The section on notable faculty and alumni is plagued by recurring 'such as' and terms like outstanding, distinguished, ground-breaking and prominent are used without any qualitative or quantitative measure. Harvard is perhaps the archtype. I think you would be a great person to collaborate with in 'real life', which is catching up with me. Next time I visit, the article may be GA or even featured! Heads of universities are notable by WP:PROF, so I of course declined the speedies. However, you really do need to get some more information in the articles, along with some sources. I'd advise you to add this very quickly, before it gets nominated for regular deletion. They're defensible, but its better to prveent this. DGG (talk) 15:58, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
