Hey... I'm one of those "stereotypical" Goth kids. I hate labels. But we've got to live with them, because they're almost guaranteed to last forever. Criminals in Medieval times, on the night before their execution, were called "monsters," after all. So we've always had labels. Labels are terrible, that's what I believe. I think that people should be able to live their lives without being judged by the labels that society has forced them to live with.

SUMMARY[edit]

...I don't really wanna tell you much. I'm just gonna say that I love Pearl Jam, I love Grunge, the only genre I love more than Grunge is Punk Rock, and I love music in general. I also love life and I want to become a musician when I grow up, but I've got a lot of back-up plans.

I was born in Montana and raised there... But this summer, I moved to Georgia. It's not as nice. But I've called it "Home Sweet Home" because I've come to terms with living there. Coming to terms is something we've all got to do with situations where there's a predicament.

My Life and Music[edit]

They are my favorites for loads of reasons, one being how I LOVE the genre Grunge. My favorite musicians are tied at Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam, and Kurt Cobain of Nirvana. But I LOVE Pearl Jam because their lyrics seem to tell some sort of story. Like, my favorite song of all time is Alive by Pearl Jam, and it's about a kid who just learned that his dad died, and his mom falls in love with her son because he looks so much like his dad. They start an incestuous relationship. It's a part of a trilogy. But in short, they are definitely my favorite band. Eddie Vedder is my hero, and I have an unhealthy obsession with him.

Besides Pearl Jam...[edit]

Here's my second favorite band of all time:

  • The Offspring - Mixing punk rock with influences of metal... this is what I love! Every now and then, they'll have a bit of ska punk... or maybe a bit of progressive rock (a heavier version of rock that doesn't have the whole VERSE/CHORUS/VERSE/CHORUS/BRIDGE/CHORUS layout, shown in their song "Pay The Man")... but they are just plain amazing. By the way, I've got nothing against progressive rock or ska punk; I love them both! I'm just saying that they aren't JUST punk sprinkled with metal. I honestly like everything they've written... and I have an unhealthy obsession with them, almost as unhealthy as my obsession with Pearl Jam. If I could change, then I'd really be amazed... those are some of my favorite lyrics from them. They have really simple lyrics, but they're so easy to relate to, and everything about them is beautiful.

In 3rd Place is...

  • Nirvana - These guys. I mean, there really aren't words to describe how awesome Nirvana is. They are some of my biggest inspirations in music, and I feel just like my #2 musical hero (not a crush, but my biggest hero, rather... and behind, of course, Eddie Vedder), Kurt Cobain. I won't say how. But I do. I'll just say that we're both misunderstood, and we feel like we're lost... except I don't think I'll be killing myself anytime in the future. But they are just such big inspirations for me. I love their music, and everything about them... They are amazing, and they are magical. I sometimes have obsessive dreams where I meet Kurt before his music career, and we become great friends and talk all the time... Yeah. I know it's obsessive. Move on. Plus, have you heard Krist Novoselic on "Lounge Act?" He is insane. I am completely serious. Dave Grohl went on to create one of the greatest alternative/post-grunge music groups (ever). See what great things Nirvana created? Nirvana sure is heaven...

Fourth Place belongs to a tie between...

  • Less Than Jake - Less Than Jake mixes ska punk, which is punk with instruments of the brass and/or woodwind section (such as trumpets and saxophones). You'd think it's cheesy. It's actually an amazing genre, a new form of expression. Anyways, every part of Less Than Jake is addicting, from my favorite songs by them (below) to their personalities, and most captivating, the drop-dead GORGEOUS Chris Demakes (he doesn't have his own Wikipedia page anymore, shamefully, so the link just goes to the band's Wikipedia page). I mean, most people would say, "he's fat, and he's ugly. What do you see in him?" I see a rebellious ska punk star who isn't afraid of expression, and also, have you SEEN the picture of him and the rest of the band with the chandelier? Check it out HERE. He's the one in the blue shirt, on the far left, staring at the camera with those attention-grabbing eyes that just make your heart melt (or at least want to). --- Wait, back to their music. Anyways, they just have great music, powerful lyrics with catchy hooks and have you HEARD the guitar intro to "Motto?" Go out and buy their best CD in my opinion, "Hello Rockview." You will be blown back by their uncontainable talent.

  • NOFX - NOFX is the most politically-correct band to roam this earth, and their lead singer is just as unexpectedly gorgeous as Chris Demakes of Less Than Jake... not to mention as intelligent. That guy is witty, and when his lyrics don't crack me up, they really make me think. This band can really make you sit down and think about politics and whether you fit the description of their flaming lyrics or not. One of their best songs by far, in my opinion, is "Jaw Knee Music" from "The Longest EP" in 2010. They basically took every song that spoke about a character named Johnny, and they made their own song off of it. It's freaking intelligent and awesome; I LOVE THEM and that song. Not to mention that Green Day garnered a LOAD of fame and tweeny-boppers screaming, "I love how Green Day can speak about Bush and tell him that they don't give a damn about him, and tell him to fuck off!" (taken from a video where some wannabe-kid that tried too hard said that exact thing) with the release of their step towards Selloutsville, American Idiot... but NOFX DID THE EXACT SAME THING A YEAR EARLIER... AND BETTER THAN GREEN DAY. These guys are so under-appreciated.


Let me just say this right here: Bands 5 and 6 are tied for my 5th favorite, because they're both amazing and bands that have inspired me to reach further. Here they are, and little descriptions of each one:

  • Red Hot Chili Peppers - They STILL play funk rock, a genre abandoned by most in the 70s and 80s. Honestly. But they play it in a tolerable manner, and I just LOVE these guys to death. Plus, their music videos just make you grab on, and never want to get off of the roller coaster of REAL rock music.
  • Guns N' Roses - A GREAT hard rock group... these guys are freakin' amazing. I didn't think 5th and 6th place bands could get more awesome than this. These guys are mind-blowing awesome. Their last REALLY AMAZING album was Appetite for Destruction and their last REALLY GOOD album was G N' R Lies, and the band is really screwed now that they don't have the Appetite lineup (Axl, Slash, Izzy, Duff, and Steve). But back in "the day" these guys kicked some serious ass, and the way they were back then is what makes them one of my favorite bands (I don't think I worded that correctly).

Don't get me wrong, those aren't the only bands I like. I also like the ones below, just not as much. (They aren't in order.)

As for genres as a whole, here are my favorites (in order), as well as my two favorite artists in each one. The genres are not pinpointed, meaning that, as an example, there won't be a "groove metal;" it will all just be "metal."

  1. Punk - The Offspring, NOFX
  2. Grunge - Pearl Jam, Nirvana
  3. Hard Rock/Heavy Metal/The stuff popularized by long-haired guys in the 80s - Guns N' Roses, The Cult
  4. Metal - Pantera
  5. Country - Toby Keith

As you can tell, I like music. It is my life, as I don't have one at school or after school. If you haven't noticed, I don't have many friends. But music is my life, so... there you have it. My life. Right here on this page.

Music Videos[edit]

I have two favorite music videos (they're tied for favorites). I'll list reasons after the two.

Dani California - Red Hot Chili Peppers[edit]

It's like an epic tribute to a load of amazing artists that the Chili Peppers were influenced by, or just influential artists in general. It's fun to watch, too, because RHCP's lead singer Anthony Kiedis adds this new life to it with his reckless stage frolicking. It sort of returns home at the very end, where the Chili Peppers are themselves and Anthony throws the microphone stand off the stage while prancing around as if high. He's amazing. He's not the most attractive dude in the entire world... but he's one of 'em in my eyes. Forget Brad Pitt and Chris Hemsworth! Anthony Kiedis is hot! And it's not just his looks; it's his stage antics that add onto his "beauty."

Some of the artists that the Chili Peppers clearly parody in the music video include The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix, AC/DC, Prince, Bootsy Collins, David Bowie, Sex Pistols, a The Misfits-era Glenn Danzig and my much-loved Nirvana. Their main intention was to parody eras, rather than the actual artists. They did a great job with both, though, and because of this, they are one of my favorite bands and always will be!

Their style is so unique. Every year they release anything new, they drift further and further from whatever is mainstream. I mean, they are as far as they can get from being played on mainstream radio stations right now, or just about that. Nobody has a funk rock radio station nowadays, and since funk rock isn't mainstream (by mainstream, I mean Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, and all that kind of schtick (you'll get why I made it a link if you look up the lyrics), it's not going to be on mainstream radio stations either. Sorry, I tend to repeat myself. But I love these guys because not only is their style unique, but they (as people) are unique, and SHEESH, Anthony Kiedis is so painfully hot!!!

Jeremy - Pearl Jam[edit]

This is my 2nd favorite song of all time. I already said the favorite up there. But here's why.

It illustrates the troubled life of Jeremy Wade Delle, a 15-year-old boy who killed himself. He didn't do it like most of the other kids who take their lives in their rooms or a closet, however; he did it in front of people. But I won't get to that yet, though; there are other points I'd like to make.

Pearl Jam was accused of jumping onto the Grunge bandwagon and trying to be like Nirvana. IN REALITY, THEY RELEASED THE FIRST GRUNGE ALBUM. Therefore they created the bandwagon. But they were accused of hoppin' on. However, once reviewers realized how real Pearl Jam was, and how they didn't want to make mainstream music videos of just playing instruments and having a bunch of hot girls dancing (like just about every other music video at that time), and how they even said they didn't want to be remembered by their music videos and how they wanted to be remembered by their music, the reviewers gave them a chance. They told a story with their music video.

Jeremy starts out drawing a sketchy picture of a man who has just murdered many people. He is the Stickman on the cover of the "Alive" single, with his "arms raised in a V." He has just killed many people, as I mentioned above, "and the dead lay in pools of maroon below." He is drawing with a crayon using 1991 Crayola colors, and Eddie makes a reference to that earlier in the song by saying, "Lemon Yellow Sun." Once he finishes with the drawing, he clutches at his face with his teeth gritted as Eddie sings, "Daddy didn't give attention to the fact that Mommy didn't care. King Jeremy the Wicked ruled his world..."

A lot of stuff happens in between; Jeremy sits at his desk and gets laughed at by his classmates, which are stationary. Everything is stationary except for Jeremy, who clutches at his head and slinks down in his chair as his peers continue to laugh at him... to belittle him. Finally, he gets enough and enters the classroom late one day. After tossing a Late Slip to his teacher, he pulls out a gun, sticks it in his mouth, and pulls the trigger. His classmates are splattered in blood. "Try to forget this... Try to erase this from the blackboard" means that the blood got on the blackboard, but there is no way to erase it. Jeremy Wade Delle killed himself in front of his classmates, a shot in the mouth the cause of death. His home life piled on top of a friendless time at school led to his tragic suicide.

My Note to You[edit]

If you're reading this right now and you have ever wanted to kill yourself, don't even CONSIDER it. You think nobody will miss you. You think you have nothing to live for. But you do. You are a beautiful person, whether you want to believe so or not, and you should NEVER take your life under ANY circumstances. Someone here loves you and will miss you. I will be one of them. I will miss you, and I love you and care about you. And you know it.

They aren't in a specific order. There're a lot of them, but I like a lot of songs, so deal with it. I just wanted to share these with you before I left. Maybe you'll want to check 'em out. I tried to sort them by artist. I chose them carefully, so they aren't just some random songs I heard once on the radio and fell in love with. In fact, iTunes says I've listened to each of these songs more than 50 times.

Other Interests (NOT MUSIC-RELATED!!)[edit]

I'm one of those people who's vehemently against the death penalty. I never understood the point of "eye-for-an-eye," and what's the point of ruining another family through an execution? Sure, killing is wrong, but does it justify the government to do the same thing to a murderer? At the most, lock 'em up for life! They can't do anything when they're locked for life, but you just torture them by scaring them; they're just as scared as death as a victim, and they turn into a victim when they're rolled into that pristine room and needles go in their arms, or when they're strapped to an oak chair and prepared to be shocked with electricity, or when they're strapped to a metal chair and told to "breathe in; it goes faster and hurts for less time that way," or whatever other methods, knowing that they won't leave the room alive... you call that humane?

But anyways, I digress. Here are links to specific reasons as to why I don't think the death penalty should exist. I put emphasis on race because in many cases, race is a huge factor in what the sentence ends up being... like the first one.

But I have to admit; there are some really sick people that need to be kept off the streets. But a more productive way of doing so is handing said man a sentence of life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. Here are some really twisted people, whether they've been executed or not.
