Should we create a new article called "Musanze?" That is the city of Ruhengeri's official name now. If there's not enough information about the city itself, I propose that we at least change the opening paragraph, which claims that Ruhengeri is also the name of the city within the region. Sorry, my mistake; since writing the last bit, I was in Rwanda, and I discovered that I was incorrect. I had been under the impression that the city and the district both changed their name, but the city has indeed remained Ruhengeri. 75.71.32.186 16:50, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am living in the city of Musanze now, and I have checked extensively with both local (Mayor's office) and national sources (MINALOC) to determine if the city name was changed to Musanze like the district name was. The unanimous answer I have gotten is, "Yes." The new name of Ruhengeri is officially Musanze. I have included this fact in this article, and I am working on a new article on Musanze, the city, with much more information. --Russell Rainey (talk) 10:39, 11 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This does not appear to be unambiguously the case at the moment. For example the district of Musanze website http://www.musanze.gov.rw/ still says that the capital is Ruhengeri (and this website went live after the boundary changes were made in 2006). See also page 22 of the Bradt travel guide for further analysis of this question. As far as I know common usage also continues to use Ruhengeri, though this may have changed. Anyway, I think we need several verifiable sources before making a move anyway. SteveRwanda (talk) 16:44, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
