I found some articles on Burns.

July 1984 - https://www.newspapers.com/clip/97105997/calgary-herald/ (this one gives her age as 30, so she was born in 1953 or 1954)

December 1987 - https://www.newspapers.com/clip/97105957/nanaimo-daily-news/

February 1988 - https://www.newspapers.com/clip/97106229/calgary-herald/

After that, I can't find anything else on Burns. There is an obituary from 1988 as well as a memorial article from 1992 for a Jessie Burns, but she was a few years older and had links to Ontario whilst this Burns seems to be strongly connected to Alberta.
