Contested deletion[edit]

This page should not be speedy deleted because... --Oregondean (talk) 00:40, 6 June 2011 (UTC) We will be adding to the content and formatting over the coming couple of weeks. This is our first effort at a Wikipedia page and we are coming up the curve in terms of formatting and content.[reply]

Specific topics to add are more history, rare disease statistics and links, and references to rare disease support communities and programs

What specific part of the notability criteria does this organization meet? What reliable, independent sources, like magazine articles, newspaper articles, and books, have been written that verify the information in this article? I tried to find sources with my own search, and wasn't able to find any. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 00:55, 6 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
[[Oregondean (talk) 14:32, 6 June 2011 (UTC)]] We will be providing links and references to press coverage. I am the new kid here (as COO of the organization) and have seen the press & photos. Global Genes Project, was an initiative of the Children's Rare Disease Network that garnered significant traction on the 2011 Rare Disease Day (2/29, 2/28 in non-leap years). With a slightly expanded and redefined mission the CRDN has changed its corporate name to GGP - that will require some manual tying of historical press and activities to the current entity. Thx.[reply]
As the COO, it isn't appropriate for you to create this article, because you have a conflict of interest. Don't worry; if this really is a notable organization, it's inevitable that people outside the organization will write about it. We have that rule because it's so difficult to accurately and neutrally write about a subject you're directly involved with. If you're still interested in helping at Wikipedia, though, there are many other articles that need improving. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 21:12, 6 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I have done some copyediting to this article, added two sources, and withdrawn my speedy deletion nomination. I believe this topic is potentially notable. Oregondean, if you need any help with the article please feel free to ask me here. As a note, articles on Wikipedia need to be written in a neural point of view and references need to be reliable and independent of the subject. Is there a scientific source for "It is estimated that 95 % of all rare diseases do not have a single FDA approved drug treatment, and there are currently less than 400 treatments approved by the FDA for the approximately 7000 rare diseases which have been identified."? -- 178.6.8.147 (talk) 06:46, 19 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
