... that this year's Carmel mayoral election is the first since 26-year incumbent mayor James Brainard announced his retirement? Source: [1] "The meeting resembled countless others where he’s envisioned Carmel’s future during his 26 years as the Indianapolis northern suburb’s mayor. Two hours after discussions with Mestetsky, he would make an announcement on his own future. After seven terms in office, Brainard will not run for reelection in the 2023 election cycle."
