This seminar surveys regional studies methodology by introducing a dozen examples of Middle Eastern cities using a range of lecturers and approaches. Students will a) become familiar with the particular characters of dozen instances of a Middle Eastern cities, in this way learning something of the diversity of the region, b) encounter a variety of approaches to the study of the region, and c) develop deep knowledge of one city, which they will study over the course of the semester.
