Communication[edit]

Communication about INCOTM is primarily done at :

Standard Operating Procedure[edit]

1. As per present policy, two articles are selected for development each month:

  • Collaboration of the Month. An article chosen for overall improvement through joint efforts. Duration for collaboration is the calendar month.
  • GA/FA of the Month. An article chosen for the specific purpose of converting to GA or FA. The GA/FA article remains the GA/FA of the Month till it achieves the desired status or is abandoned by community consensus.

2. Actions about ongoing INCOTM.

  • Monthly report. In the last week of the month, work begins to compile a short report which examines and reports on the collaboration as a whole and the improvements done to the articles. The report should be published on the Noticeboard and the list as soon as possible after the last day of the month. Example.
  • Based on contributions, barnstars are given to the principal contributors and also to those who make important contributions such as creating a diagram, adding a spoken version etc.
  • In case of FA/GA barnstars are only given at the end of the GA/FA process to the major contributors. Give Wikilove in the monthly end to FA/GA contributors in the meantime.
  • After the report, the names of the last month's INCOTM and details of improvement are added to the History page.

3. Actions about forthcoming INCOTM.

  • Suggestions. By the middle of the month, suggestions should be sought from the rest of the community for next month's INCOTM candidates. We ask for suggestion on the Noticeboard and the List but the actual nominations are to be made on the Nominations page.
  • Voting. After a few days, a notice should be put up on Noticeboard and list asking people to vote for the INCOTM from amongst the nominations. Voting should begin immediately and end say 72 hours later (at the discretion of the coordinator).
  • In case, nominations are invalid or inadequate for some reason and more nominations are needed, this can also be intimated.
  • Results. Voting is done on the Noticeboard. You may need to remind or prompt people, or approach them privately to participate in the process. After the voting is over, results are to be announced both on List & Noticeboard.
  • Additional announcements may be made on List and/or Noticeboard as per discretion by the coordinator e.g. successful/unsuccessful FA/GA attempt.
  • See this post as an example of combination of all the above on the Noticeboard.

4. Actions once INCOTM selected.

  • The old unsuccessful candidates are removed from the Nominations page so that fresh nominations can be sought. But there is no hard & fast rule. The coordinator can choose to retain any unsuccessful nomination as per discretion for another chance at its being selected as INCOTM.

5. Though INCOTM has a red-link talk page, it should be for specific queries related to the process while all information, reports & other discussions should be carried out on Noticeboard only. The List is for informing the community who may choose to have discussions there. In case such discussions take place on the list, a summary of discussion with list archive page link(s) can be given.
