2020, twenty-four hours ago

New year, new decade, new ways for everyone to go "oh no!", as reality turned its ugly head to make readers check on the rising tensions between the United States and Iran. Otherwise, Wikipedia visitors still reading about whatever show they are watching (specially if it's a binge-friendly one on Netflix), some December movies, people on TV, celebrities getting engaged, and the 2019 death list for the last time before the new year and related list takes its place.

So take me to the table, and put on the Report. Hurry, hurry, hurry, before I fall apart. For the week of December 22 to 28, 2019, the 25 most popular articles on Wikipedia, as determined from the WP:5000 are:

2	The Witcher (TV series)	1,865,585	Down from #1, the adaptation of the Polish fantasy books\games that is enthralling Netflix viewers worldwide, in spite of mixed reviews by critics.
3	Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker	1,297,640	J. J. Abrams returned to close the new trilogy he started, and in spite of many attempts to be fan-pleasing, instead created a slightly messy production that turned out even more divisive than The Last Jedi. At least Disney hasn't announced any new follow-ups yet, as they wait for The Rise of Skywalker to break a billion dollars worldwide.
4	You (season 2)	1,096,682	Streaming shows, streaming shows everywhere. Netflix has three entries regarding evil men, first a returning show featuring a serial killer\stalker (whose actor is at #19), and the subject of docuseries Don't Fk With Cats, responsible for a few kitten deaths and a grisly human dismemberment. Disney+ completes with someone who's just an anti-hero, the armored bounty hunter in the Star Wars release that unlike the one at #3 made most of the fans happy.

8	Christine Keeler	800,049	BBC One's series The Trial of Christine Keeler tells about the Profumo affair, a scandal regarding this model and showgirl (portrayed by Sophie Cookson) having been sexually involved with both a British minister and a Soviet naval officer.
9	The Witcher	740,629	Poland is to thank for both this book series (by author Andrzej Sapkowski, pictured) and the video games that brought it to worldwide attention (by developer CD Projekt Red), ultimately leading to the Netflix adaptation at #2.

Universal is no longer attempting of getting award nominations for Cats - though expect it to run for a few Golden Raspberry Awards, given Cats is placing in almost all worst of 2019 lists!
15	Linda Ronstadt	611,504	CNN shed a light on this singer by airing both documentary Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice and an interview with Anderson Cooper, so Ronstadt could recall her career, detail on how progressive supranuclear palsy forced her into retirement, and share some bad words on Donald Trump given his xenophobia clashes with her Mexican heritage.
16	Dracula (2020 TV series)	588,976	BBC and Netflix adapted the quintessential vampire novel into a three part miniseries starring Claes Bang as the infamous count.
17	Post Malone	581,379	Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve warranted an entry in 2017 for Mariah Carey's technical difficulties, but not the following year with Britney Spears lip-synching. Well, rapper Post Malone got in by one-upping Britney: he lip-synched and also fell off stage!
18	Jimmy Hoffa	578,950	Disclaimer: this here writer has started but not yet finished The Irishman, given life is short but a three-and-a-half hour movie is endless. But the Netflix release itself claims the disappeared labour union leader played by Al Pacino was at a certain point as famous as Elvis and\or the president, so no wonder he gets more views than the movie and more proeminent main characters Frank Sheeran and Russell Bufalino.
19	Penn Badgley	574,381	The portrayer of villain protagonist Joe Goldberg in our #6 (and by extension, #4), who previously worked at Gossip Girl and also headlines the band MOTHXR.

22	Good Newwz	529,990	Bollywood's last hit of 2019, a comedy about two expecting couples. One lead actress manages to combine both big families of the industry: Kareena Kapoor Khan.
23	Victoria Pedretti	526,838	A few months after being part of the Manson Family in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, this actress is now on the receiving end of crime as the female lead in the second season (#4) of our #6.
24	Deaths in 2019	507,268	In the half-week before the article got redirected to Lists of deaths by year, the yearly deceased list still managed to squeeze in a last appearance on our Report.
25	Little Women (2019 film)	506,396	The seventh adaptation of Louisa May Alcott's novel, the best known of which came out 25 years ago. It's also a Lady Bird reunion, written and directed by Greta Gerwig and starring Saoirse Ronan and Timothée Chalamet, and has been as raved as that one, with great reviews and alright box office even in a crowded Christmas season.
