Portal:Journalism[edit]

Hello portal peer reviewers. Portal:Journalism has (11) Selected articles, all of WP:FA or WP:GA status, (13) Selected biographies, all of WP:FA or WP:GA status, (30) Selected pictures, all free-use, (20) Did you know entries, all that have appeared on the Main Page, and (58) Selected quotes, of which 42 have an accompanying free-use picture. All of the above-mentioned sections use {{Random portal component}}. Would appreciate general feedback on the portal, as well as comments on how to further improve its quality. Comments. It all looks fine to me.
- The biggest gripe I can come up with is that featured star is so big everywhere you put it! ;-) RichardF (talk) 13:03, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  - Done. Fixed this for the Selected quotes section. Don't think this is necessary for the DYK section, other portals got to Featured Portal status with the current style of formatting. As there are several displayed quotes, which each have separate randomized functions, it would be difficult to do this. Cirt (talk) 18:20, 4 January 2008 (UTC).[reply]

Review: Looks good!

Read more about journalism... → More about journalism..., not just for uniformity, but other featured portals, such as the South Australia Portal, use it too.
At Portal:Journalism/Selected article/3, the ending parentheses, started by (Arabic: الجزيرة, al-ğazīrä, [al.dʒaˈziː.ra], isn't there.
Also at Portal:Journalism/Selected article/3, instead of having (see Videos of Osama bin Laden), you could link video statements to Videos of Osama bin Laden.
At Portal:Journalism/Selected article/5, shouldn't all instances of Esquire be italicized?
At Portal:Journalism/Selected biography/13, the dates of birth and death are needed.
At Portal:Journalism/Selected biography/7, John Lawrence Seigenthaler born July 27, 1927) is an American journalist, writer, and political figure. should be changed to John Lawrence Seigenthaler (born July 27, 1927) is an American journalist, writer, and political figure..
Here — {| width="100%" cellpadding="5" cellspacing="10" style="background: gainsboro; border-style:solid; border-width:2px; border-color: steelblue; " — class="plainlinks" could be added.
There's too much space at the ends of the Categories and Main topics sections.
In my opinion, the order at the end of the portal should be Related portals, Associated Wikimedia, and then the portal footer (taken out of the box). For an example, see the Religion Portal. Great work so far, [sd] 00:20, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the quick response! I've added the coding. The code class="plainlinks" takes off the external link icon, , from the link.
