Original - Cross-sectional and cut-away views expose the honeycomb structure within these dried blades of bull kelp. Durvillaea antarctica is the only seaweed with this feature, which provides it with buoyancy and resilience against the pounding waves.
Reason
Good EV: shows a unique feature of this seaweed, the honeycomb-like structure within its blades

  • I am inclined to oppose this. I have no idea what is shown, or what I am supposed to see in this image. The composition is just... not there. Nergaal (talk) 18:14, 2 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak oppose per Nergaal. Aaadddaaammm (talk) 07:04, 3 November 2010 (UTC) [reply]
  • Oppose Sorry, but on closer inspection, the focus is pretty off too. Aaadddaaammm (talk) 07:07, 3 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: It's difficult to get an idea of scale with this seaweed image (and the same with another seaweed image of yours that I've seen here). Perhaps this subject could be presented in combined form (similar to this idea), giving a zoom series (so to speak :p). Maedin\talk 21:06, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
