Voice Of Life (Arua) is a church-oriented Ugandan broadcast station[1] based in Arua since 1997.[2] Also referred to as VOL, it was the first FM radio channel in West Nile, five years after the first in Uganda's capital Kampala. The offices are on the northwestern top of Arua Hill at Plot M47 Independence Road[3][4] which runs behind Arua Hill Park.
History[edit]
Canon Isaac Anguyo of Here Is Life was the founder and first proprietor but VOL has had other managers including Laban Econi.[5] Voice Of Life has featured so many people on air including preachers, local Christians, doctors, politicians[6] and musicians.[7] It also broadcast live events such as visitation services of the Archbishops of the Anglican Church of Uganda to Arua, etc. Joseph Olia in Mvara Suburb of Arua is a star listener and regular caller.
Programs[edit]
Although some foreign content is broadcast during 2024 e.g. from Trans World Radio, VOL produces most of its programs including the News in English and local languages like Lugbara with Irene Ayikoru Alidria, music bonanzas e.g. with Emmanuel Feta, talkshows[8] like the Aringa Program with Aile or Saviour, interviews, preaching shows e.g. Sunday Halfhour Gospel with Pastor Norman Acidribo of Arua Full Gospel Church nearby, church services plus other live events.
