Bengal tigers

I think this news was notable because it was on the front page of the paper. It's context was the links to the articles Wikipedia articles I think. I read the Times article. They moved them to the reserve to increase the population of the tigers there, since there were none there. Then someone said they should have made sure the male wasn't the sibling of the two females, and the article says it is possible to do so. I supposee the Times thinks it's notable because it's part of the effort to keep the animals from going extinct. I'm not sure how to word it better. Maybe it could say "to make sure the male is not the brother of the two females in the repopulation effort, or something like that. --Chuck Marean 08:31, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

Gulf War?

Sorry if this seems dense, but did you really mean to send me the user talk comment of 24 February regarding the Gulf War? "Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did to Gulf War. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox." As I read the history, it looks like you reverted the edit by 209.33.124.2 TO my version, no? Shouldn't the comment have gone to him? The only edit I made was to take out the name "Patton" for M60 tanks. I hardly see how that's unconstructive or vandalism -- it's not even controversial. I'm hardly the Big Authority on tanks, but I've never seen the M60 named "Patton", whereas the M48 in U.S. service is always called that (variations use it too, like the Israeli Centurion hull with an M48 turret -- a "Patturion"). I'm sorry, I misunderstood what the term "userfy" meant. I thought you were referring to an edit protection. I'm not going to do that anyway because I don't think the article is worth saving. The person it is about was a write-in candidate that got two votes in a primary election. That is hardly notable. As for ERB64, the user that made the page: I suspect that he/she created the page for the purpose of publicizing the candidate, as in contains a lot of unsourced material. As far as I'm concerned the article should be deleted. And one last thing: what's with deleting an active discussion from your talk page? I'm not trying to be critical or anything (it is your userspace after all, and you can do as you please), but generally inactive talk page discussions are archived, not deleted. Template:Election box turnout no change

I changed this template to make it behave exactly like Template:Election box turnout, but without the change column. This should surely be what it does. The version you reverted to has no possibility of displaying the total votes, just the percentage, but Template:Election box turnout does allow you to display this. If you want a template that differs from Template:Election box turnout in more ways than the absence of a change column, I think it should be put under a new title. Another difference: the version you've reverted to has a % sign hardcoded, while Template:Election box turnout doesn't. For simplicity and ease of use the two should be the same in this and other respects, or don't you agree? I did an article yesterday with election boxes where because of boundary changes I didn't want a change column, so I used all the "no change" equivalents of the usual templates. For the next article I do, where it does make sense to include change figures, I should be able to copy and paste the tables, change all the names and figures, and add a change field to each template. If editors have to worry about whether the no change version of the template they want to use has a % sign in it or not, as well as other differences, a lot more work is created for everyone. The RIAA citations and the spelling out of "United States" are still there. As I mentioned before, United States is abbreviated as "U.S." on Wikipedia, and you aren't supposed to change established citation/note formatting (see Wikipedia:Citing sources#Citation styles for details). I've just added references for the video directors to Nirvana discography. While doing it I found that according Kevin Kerslake he only co-directed the "Lithium" video[1]. I found that the other co-director is likely to have been Mark Racco, but I can only find unreliable sources online[2]. Do you have any printed sources which might confirm this? Rustamnagar Sahaspur article

Hello, I'm doing some typo fixing here-and-there, and noticed that there has been an edit to this article involving a moved paragraph that definitely seems to be awry. It is not crystal clear to me exactly where the paragraph actually belongs, so I do not feel comfortable fixing it; there have been several revisions made recently around that same paragraph, of which yours was the last before it was moved to its present obviously incorrect place. The history entry that moved the paragraph incorrectly is the one of 14:18, 13 April 2010. Hope this helps, and sorry if I'm handling this poorly, I am new to Wikipedia editing. Regards. For instance: the guy who followed Berliner as an editor of the "Naturwissenschaften" was Rosbaud - his biography was given in detail, but it has nothing to do in this article. Perhaps your revert was an misunderstanding. (Similar: Berliner was hired by Emil Rathenau, but the article dont need an image of him. further: I have read a whole book about the Einstein Tower in Potsdam - but Berliner has nothing to do with it. etc. etc.) Please look at the discussion of Arnold Berliner too, and please forgive me my bad enlish. Answer to "The Only Hope for Me is You" Query

You asked what evidence I had for stating that "The Only Hope for Me is You" is not a single. 1. Many songs can chart on the Billboard Charts, but that does not mean they are singles. 2. Just because it was released separately to the album does not mean it is a single. "Art is the Weapon" was released separately, and is not a single, just like Linkin Park's "Wretches and Kings" was released as a teaser for those who pre-ordered "A Thousand Suns", but is not a single. 3. There have been no comments from MCR or their label stating "The Only Hope for Me is You" is "a single" or "the second single". You will remember that when "Na Na Na" was released, the word "single" appeared in connection with it everywhere. Not ONCE has "The Only Hope for Me is You" been referred to as a single by MCR, their label, or by critics and reviewers. 4. "The Only Hope for Me is You" is not on the radio. I hope these are enough reasons to justify why "The Only Hope for Me is You" is not a single. You're missing the point entirely. A single is defined on this site as "In music, a single or record single is a type of release, typically a recording of two tracks. This can be released for sale to the public in a variety of different formats. In most cases, the single is a song that is released separately from an album, but it can still appear on an album. Often, these are the most popular songs from albums that are released separately for promotional uses." Obviously, the definition of "single" is ambiguous. If a single were any song released separately to the album, then every song would be a single in today's world of digital downloads. It is up to debate how to interpret the definition, however to simply state that if a song is released separate to an album it is a single is absurd, or else every song MCR have released would be in the singles list, as they are all available for separate download. Therefore, we must take hints when interpreting which songs are worthy of being labelled "singles". Right away, in the definition above, we see a hint: "typically a recording of two tracks". You will notice that ALL of MCRs previously released singles have 2 or more tracks. This already shows that in the technical term of the word, "The Only Hope for Me is You" is faltering as a single. Secondly: "these are the most popular songs from albums". In most of the media hype surrounding "Danger Days", "Bulletproof Heart" is listed as the best song and the likely first single. The circumstances which led up to "Na Na Na" being released as the first single are different; namely, MCR admitted that they never planned to release "Na Na Na" as a single until a few days before they did so. That they would release "The Only Hope for Me is You" as the second single instead of "Bulletproof Heart" is unlikely. Thirdly, we must take previous examples of singles. Most singles have music videos. MCR have mentioned nothing about any video for "The Only Hope for Me is You"; yet another aid to interpreting whether said song is a single or not. Fourthly, singles are normally released as a means of promoting an album (as stated in the definition above), primarily through radio and climbing the charts, as well as to make more money for the label. "The Only Hope for Me is You" is not on the radio, and has very little chance of climbing the charts, as it is FREE to those that pre-purchase the album, and therfore this does not count as sales, nor does it generate much money for the label. Fifthly, you stated to me that it does not matter what MCR or their label says about wheather it is a single or not. However, you will notice that when most proper singles are released, the label will state something like "the first official single from the new album". Notice the word "official". That is because single cannot be accurately defined, and they say "offical" precisely to stop what you and other people are doing; namely, heralding songs which are not singles as singles. As I mentioned previously, the word "single" has not been used in conjunction with "The Only Hope for Me is You", therefore it is unlikely that MCR ever meant in to be the official second single. Finally, we must look at previous examples of similar situations. As I also stated previously, Linkin Park offered a track to those who preordered their album, but it was NOT a single. You will see this pattern in many other artists as well. The only difference is Linkin Park's discography page did not have people incessantly listing every track as a single. I hope you will see after all these reasons that your argument is ridiculous. If MCR states that it is in fact the official second single, I will gladly apologize. Until then, please don't let this information go in one ear and out the other. PS. If you can come up with a valid argument against what I have said, please post it on my page. You are simply contradicting yourself in all of your arguments, and my point stands that ANY song can be construed as a separate entity if people look hard enough. Zntrip, you undid my edit of the My Chemical Romance Discography studio albums chart. As I stated, it is customary on Wikipedia to list the act's country of origin first. Every single other discography on Wikipedia does this. It's quite annoying to spend time on something only to have it reverted by a trigger happy vandal. In order to keep within the general Wikipedia aesthetics, I think it should be reverted to the way I had it, the way it has been for several previous years, and the way every other article has it. Please Slow Down

Hi, while we are all doing a great job at getting List of members of the United States Congress killed or wounded in office much better than it was before, please slow down on reverting edits. I was working on getting the whole page into sortable tables, but before i get my second and eventually third edit in to fix the issues you reference, you had reverted my edit. Since then you and another editor have added more info to the page so i can not do a simple revert anymore, and the two edits i have spent about 45 minutes working on will have to be done all over again. Cluster munitions treaty and the Netherlands

He Zntrip, just saw your change to the Netherlands entry saying it applies to everywhere in the Netherlands. While that's true for the country, it doesn't apply to the whole kingdom of the netherlands -in itnl organizations confusingly abbreviation netherlands- (Aruba etc are explicitly excluded). Was that the reason for your revert, or do you look for a ref stating not the whole kingdom had ratified? If it's the latter, I'd be happy to provide one; if it's the first, then it's a matter of interpretation and I agree it's acceptable to keep it as it is for now... Could you please self-revert [4]? This page is a project page used by members of a class that is working in concert with Wikipedia to have students write articles on Wikipedia. User:Jaobar, whom you reverted, is the professor of that class. By prior agreement, he has a bit more control over that Project page and the associated Talk page; as such, he can determine the layout, etc. While it won't bring back the deleted picture, if he wants to remove the table, he can do so. I'm not aware of any particular discussion. It may just be a de facto convention adopted by consensus. However, you could poke around WikiProject Elections and Referendums, which may have had a discussion on the matter. Why did you redirect the page I created on Richard Aguirre. He is a local politician in San Diego and was the runner up to Jerry Brown in the 2010 California Primaries.(internal link) He has plenty of external resources. Flag of Western Sahara

Hello,

I respect the reasonable argument you used in reverting this edit, however I would like to point out that Template:Country data Western Sahara has been permanently protected since 2007 in its POV intial version. As shown on its talk page there was clearly a consensus that the Flag of the SADR shouldn't be used to keep with WP:NPOV.

I have a suggestion to replace Western Sahara by SADR with their flag, as they use a different currency than the territory under Moroccan control. with an annotation explaining the issue. What do you think about that proposal?

Just to follow up on this: My point was that Western Sahara is not a country, Sahrawi Republic is. For some reason the confusion is entertained here on Wiki (and only here). It's not a question of what's common, since no reliable source has ever said the state of Western Sahara or today, we received a delegation from The country of Western Sahara instead they will use the official name of the partly-recognized republic. For me it is something like confusing Iberia & Spain. Countries are to be referred to by their official name, examples: Myanmar/burma, Zimbabwe/Rhodesia Haute Volta/Burkinafaso Siam/Thailand. Even if, unlike my examples, Western Sahara has never denoted a country or a state.

The Sahrawi peseta is commemorative only and not used, i.e not circulating. Its wiki article needs huge reviewing (Some falsification is in their you can check the first citation for example and only one BTW). The de facto currency is the Algerian dinar, since the headquarters and habitable space of the Sahrawi republic is in Tindouf, Algeria. The Mauritanian Ouguiya is used only in Lagouira which is under Mauritanian administration and not elsewhere. I think the annotation should be factually accurate for an article with featured status.

The Only Hope

I'd like to echo the comments previously made on your page about The Only Hope. It's release in 2010 was entirely promotional and was a pre-order bonus (for free) for purchasing the album. No radio airplay, physical single, digital download with bside or music video was made available. The actual "single release" wasn't until august 2011, the digital ep featuring two bonus tracks, radio airplay, and an upcoming music video.

It was a preorder bonus for downloading the album, not a single in itself. The way the itunes store is set up it had to have it's own artwork/listing to be valid. The label/band doesn't consider the october "release" as a single, i asked the label over here and got the following in response: "Correct it was a pre order download hence different single artwork so singles are as follows na na na sing planetary go! UK single Bulletproof UK single and the only hope then the kids from yesterday will be final single"

Hi,

I see you've been doing quite a bit of work on the ICC pages, and thanks for just re-formatting the Uganda table, it looks much better now.

I saw the conversation you had with EBB on his talkpage, I would be very interested in a collaboration of some sort on the ICC. I actually made a quick UserProject page a while ago in my userspace (mainly just so that I could have a simple list of articles), it's at User:Pi/UserProject_ICC.

I just created an article for the Congo situation, and have submitted a DYK nomination for it. I'm just adding the info about the actual trials themselves now. I'm going to try and get this up to GA status as with the Kenya one. I'm not going to submit it for a couple of weeks though since I work as a mountain guide and am leading a group in America on a 2 week expedition starting a week on Saturday so wouldn't be able to respond to a review of it.

I see you wrote List of people indicted in the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda as well. I'm going to try to get that up to FL status, I've never done featured content before but it seems like a good candidate for it. I wondered if you'd be interested in working on it with me?

List of Nirvana songs

I'm really excited about the edits you have made on the List of Nirvana songs page. I recently revamped the page with a new, more organized layout and really appreciate the time and detail you have taken to keep everything uniform. The idea of listing every version of every Nirvana song seemed tedious and overwhelming, but now that I see it, it looks great. They were a band for such a short period and don't have a ton of material, so this page should be easy to maintain, after it's finished. I do have a few concerns however.

• Are posthumous comp. releases like Singles and Icon appropriate for this table? It seems a bit redundant, yet I understand they are official releases. Same could be said for the majority of Nirvana and Sliver: The Best of the Box. I guess when creating these pages it's all or nothing though? I ask because you seem more familiar with Wikipedia than myself.
• My biggest concern is how misleading the listing of the Devonshire mixes are. To the casual reader it looks like the Nevermind tracks were recorded twice; once at Sound City and again at Devonshire. I can't think of a solution for this beyond creating a note D at the bottom, stating that alternate mixes exist on the 2011 super deluxe (instead of having them in the table). Any ideas?
• Also in the case of redundancy, should the Paramount tracks release be Live at the Paramount (2011) instead of (or included with) Nevermind (2011 super deluxe edition)? or can that not be done since the audio wasn't issued as a standalone release?

The Devonshire mixes are confusing because they are essentially the same tracks as the ones included on the Nevermind album, just rough and unpolished. They recorded the album at Sound City Studios, but for whatever reason moved the operation to Devonshire Studios where Butch Vig put together these early rough mixes, May 20–28, 1991 (during which time minimal guitar and vocal overdubs also occurred). These mixes lack the "bells and whistles" later added by Andy Wallace and include many other subtle differences. Maybe we should list both studios together, that way note D could be listed in the Location(s) column after Devonshire Studios, Los Angeles, CA, thus eliminating their separation from each other in the table since they're the same song, just different mixes. Have you heard them yet? At times they're fascinating. It also appears the dates for the Nevermind recording have been narrowed down to May 2–28, 1991. ICC Project

Hi,

I'm keen to get this project up and running. My thoughts on the matter are that is's necessary to at least have a page where we list articles which come under the scope of the project in order to make it easier for any editor to see which articles exist, which don't, which need improving etc. I don't think it would require a great deal of work to get the project going, I am happy to make the project page, assessment pages, banners and miscellaneous stuff like userboxes. Wikiproject International Criminal Law

Hey - I noticed you and User:Pi went ahead and started this. Wondered why you had decided to start a new project rather than setting up a task force in wikiproject international law? As you will have noticed, "wikiproject:international law" is not a very active "parent" project at the moment - and further subdivision seems a little pointless if there are only two active editors interested in creating a new project. I think the articles on what are probably the "core topics" of ICL are the most neglected. Genocide is in decent shape thanks to PBS - but articles like War crime,Crimes against humanity International humanitarian law and even International criminal law are in a poor state atm :(. If you are looking for an article in a decent shape to bring to GA/FA I would suggest International criminal court which is a complex article, but due to the work others did on it before my time could conceivably be brought back to GA by a committed editor willing to devote the time to the topic. Tables

Hello, I've reverted a couple of the tables that you changed/added on a couple of developer articles. There were a couple of reasons behind my thinking, but most of all I think the tables, in that form, make the information harder to read. The aspect that makes it difficult is the vast number of red "No"s, that make it harder to pick out the "Yes"s, If you think of it in prose terms what the table is saying is;

This game was not on the PSP, This game was not on the Xbox, This game was not on the PS2, This game was not on the GBA, This game was on the GBAC, This game was not on the PS1, This game was not on the Xbox 360

I think the table would be much better if it only had the green "Yes" markers. Another thing worth thinking about is partially sighted and deaf users of Wikipedia that may use screen reader software; using simple prose, and simple tables makes their use of Wikipedia a whole lot easier and more enjoyable.

The other reason I removed them was that historically tables like that have not been used on developer articles due to the fact that developers work on a range of machines and this can be covered with a single line of prose "Studio Something have developed titles for console x, y and z", a table breaking down what was on which platform is better suited to Series articles like Assassin's Creed.

Thanks for your response. It's not about making it look "pretty", it's about making it readable and accessible. The width of that line disrupts the entire template at 1152x864 screenwidth (which I use due to poor eyesight), as it forces the top eight rows (ND to DX–DRASI–FS) and the KKE (ML)-ML KKE one to display over two lines. This means that I cannot view the whole results table template on a single screen, and instead have to scroll up and down. Number 57 08:15, 20 June 2012 (UTC)

It's nice to be able to see the whole table at once because you can take it all in without the need to scroll up and down between the top and bottom - so, for instance, I can see both the number of votes received by the winning party and the number of registered voters. I agree about consistency tha you said, but also we dotn need to do so for the sake of it. the symbols add to easier access/readability as the above mentioned. Ideally all the articles shuld have this ;)(Lihaas (talk) 13:22, 21 June 2012 (UTC)).

1. 1: The colour of one's race should be capitalised. E.g., a "Black" person or a "White" person (not a 'black' person)

Someone is vandalizing the page and replacing the owner's name "devi ever" with "billy corgan", as well as replacing other names on the page with "billy", such as "minus the billy" instead of "minus the bear".
