Hello, and thanks for tagging this for notability. The tag's still there 5 years later; you could take it to the Notability Noticeboard or AfD, or remove the tag if you are no longer concerned. Best wishes, Boleyn (talk)

Notice of Dispute resolution discussion

Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Dispute resolution noticeboard regarding a content dispute in which you may have been involved. Content disputes can hold up article development, therefore we are requesting your participation to help find a resolution. The thread is "Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hurricane Kira".

Guide for participants

If you wish to open a DR/N filing, click the "Request dispute resolution" button below this guide or go to Wikipedia:Dispute resolution noticeboard/request for an easy to follow, step by step request form.

What this noticeboard is:
  • It is an early step to resolve content disputes after talk page discussions have stalled. If it's something we can't help you with, or is too complex to resolve here, our volunteers will point you in the right direction.
What this noticeboard is not:
  • It is not a place to deal with the behavior of other editors. We deal with disputes about article content, not disputes about user conduct.
  • It is not a place to discuss disputes that are already under discussion at other dispute resolution forums.
  • It is not a substitute for the talk pages: the dispute must have been discussed extensively on a talk page (not just through edit summaries) before resorting to DRN.
  • It is not a court with judges or arbitrators that issue binding decisions: we focus on resolving disputes through consensus, compromise, and explanation of policy.
Things to remember:
  • Discussions should be civil, calm, concise, neutral, and objective. Comment only about the article's content, not the other editors. Participants who go off-topic or become uncivil may be asked to leave the discussion.
  • Let the other editors know about the discussion by posting {{subst:drn-notice}} on their user talk page.
  • Sign and date your posts with four tildes "~~~~".
  • If you ever need any help, ask one of our volunteers, who will help you as best as they can. You may also wish to read through the FAQ page located here and on the DR/N talkpage.

Please take a moment to review the simple guide and join the discussion. Thank you! EarwigBot operator / talk 17:58, 1 March 2013 (UTC)

I know it seems like there should be an article, but most athletes don't have articles if they don't come close to medal position and 50th is very far off the podium. I had a look through the other snowboarding articles and I rarely found articles where they didn't have medals and the one I did find was because he was a well known sporting personality after being a snowboarder. Mkdwtalk 06:41, 3 March 2013 (UTC)

Nomination of Jenna Rose for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Jenna Rose is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jenna Rose (4th nomination) until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Article Feedback deployment

Hey Whpq; I'm dropping you this note because you've used the article feedback tool in the last month or so. On Thursday and Friday the tool will be down for a major deployment; it should be up by Saturday, failing anything going wrong, and by Monday if something does :). Hello,

I have restored the history section since it is now referenced to independent sources. Here's a 1977 quote from Jane's Major Companies of Europe: "The Hunter Douglas Group had its origin in 1919 when Henry Sonnenberg, the present Chairman, started the manufacture and marketing of specialised production equipment in Germany and subsequently expanded to The Netherlands, the U.K. and the U.S.A. The Hunter Douglas Corporation, created in the United States in 1947, developed a novel continuous casting process for the production of aluminum strip and related rolling and coating processes, to produce material and components for aluminium venetian blinds and other building and home improvement products. Hunter Douglas operations were established in Canada, Australia, New Zealand and The Netherlands. The U.S.A. operations were sold in 1956 and emphasis was then placed on other parts of the world. The various foreign affiliates were transferred to Hunter Douglas Limited, a Canadian company whose shares were issued to the public in June 1969 and listed on the Toronto, Montreal and Amsterdam Stock Exchanges." Cullen328 Let's discuss it 18:18, 28 March 2013 (UTC)

Hello, I have just re-posted a article on the artist, "Akello Light". Since I know the process already, I wanted to point out the areas that are now fix from the previous upload.

1.No nontrivial coverage in multiple sources I have added two more sources:

http://www.urb.com/2013/03/27/72-soul-fools-play-ep-download-limited-edition-vinyl-contest-inside/#more-86087

2. MadmanBot Yes, this is one of my rough drafts. I did write this. http://wikibin.org/articles/akello-light.html You can even look back in the history of the former post and realize this.

Let me know if everything is proper or not, Have a great day

WikiProject Wikify April Drive

Hi there! I thought you might be interested in WikiProject Wikify's April Wikification Backlog Elimination Drive. We'll be trying to reduce the backlog size by over 500 articles and we need your help! Hard-working participants in the drive will receive awards for their contributions. If you have a spare moment, please join and wikify an article or tell your friends. Thanks!

Admin

Hi there. I came across your edits and found them to be very impressive. I'm sure you've been asked this before, but I'm wondering if you've considered running for adminship. I'd gladly nominate you if you want to take the leap, though if you'd rather not due to RfA being hell I understand. You strike me as someone who would be a bit more behind the scenes as an admin, and those are the type we need more of. Wizardman 03:39, 21 March 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for the consideration. It's a great compliment. Most of what interests me in terms of editting on Wikipedia doesn't require admin tools. The only area I frequent that would benefit from admin tools are the AFDs. I'm not daunted by the RFA gauntlet, but it's my preference to continue contributions as a regular editor. Regards. -- Whpq (talk) 04:01, 21 March 2013 (UTC)
For what it's worth, I think you'd be a great admin, even if you only used the tools now and again. Probably better than myself (low bar that that is). --j⚛e deckertalk 04:14, 24 April 2013 (UTC)

Hi, this is Emily. I've made some changes to the article of Vivian Hsu. The new contents that I added were some of the advertising works of her and some lyrics written by her. I noticed that you turned this stub into a redirect stating, "cannot establish independent notabgility [sic]". There is a wealth of articles about him in The Fiji Times (try a google search with "Jimmie Rodgers" and "Fiji Times"), The Fiji Sun and in Les Nouvelles Calédoniennes, a the only daily newspaper in New Caledonia. Are you opposed to my using these independent sources (not press releases) to re-open the article? Thanks! - tucoxn\talk 05:23, 13 May 2013 (UTC)

No objections. If the sources exist, by all means turn this back into an article. Regards. -- Whpq (talk) 10:04, 13 May 2013 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User talk:Djdubay (6 pages)

Group 1: Redirects to pages already deleted from a U1 request: (would be a G6 request if they were not User talk pages)

  • User talk:Djdubay/Human Anatomy project
  • User talk:Djdubay/Lexicography project
  • User talk:Djdubay/sandbox/Transparent Men project
  • User talk:Djdubay/sandbox/old Human Anatomy project

Group 2: Test edits that have been blanked, and would have been deleted under U1 or G7 but for the fact that they're User talk pages:

  • User talk:Djdubay/sandbox
  • User talk:Djdubay/sandbox/Human Anatomy/Old project

Of course, User talk:Djdubay should remain untouched, as there is actual talk recorded.

In Part I of the instructions, it says to use "{{mfd|GroupName}} if nominating several related pages in an umbrella nomination."

but then in Part II, it only says to use "{{subst:mfd2| pg={{subst:#titleparts:{{subst:PAGENAME}}||2}}| text=Reason why the page should be deleted}}" with no further use of "GroupName" anywhere in the text. Perhaps it should be "subst:PAGENAME or GroupName"?

When I came to Part III, it became clear that "{{subst:mfd3| pg=PageName}} should refer to "pg=PageName or GroupName". Whatever the correct procedure should be, the instructions should be updated accordingly, to avoid this sort of problem. Thanks for your help!

Need some advice

Hi, Whpq. A few months ago we tried to create an article for GenMyModel and it hasn't been accepted. We deeply apologize for the inconvenience, and we would really like to respect every rules, so here are a few links that might be interesting. Could you tell me if those sources would be reliable enough for a Wikipedia article? Mark viking already helped me a few weeks ago about a few sources, but we have other ones today and I would really like to have the point of view of someone else. Thanks for your time!

Here are the links:

Thank you very much! Simdup (talk) 08:02, 2 August 2013 (UTC)

  • Reply - I'd say that this helps move towards notability but the material is still either unreliable, not independent, not very substantial, or looks like a press release re-hash. If it continues to garner attention, it will probably meet Wikipedia's inclusion criteria in the future, but it still doesn't look like it meets it right now. Regards. -- Whpq (talk) 00:50, 6 August 2013 (UTC)

David Mahmoudieh

Hi Whpq,

Reviewing some of the recently deleted pages and noticed that this deletion seems to be based on lack of information that, though tricky to find due to surname, does exist. The following links offer proof of award-winning achievements via respected websites, including IMDB, MTV and respected film events.

May I petition for the re-listing of this page? I think this information is better available than not. If re-listed I will add these reference links to the article.

Jimdussier (talk) 21:56, 23 August 2013 (UTC)Jim

  • Reply - None of the links listed above represent reliable sources that would be usable to establish notability. I would expect that any biography created with only those references would be nominated for deletion rather quickly. If you wish to get other editor's perspectives, you may wish to ask about the notability of David Mahmoudieh at Wikipedia:Notability/Noticeboard. -- Whpq (talk) 22:40, 23 August 2013 (UTC)
  • Reply' - Hi Whpq, thanks for the reply. I have to say, entertainment is my field and an area I would like to help clean up on Wikipedia. I can say with some authority that IMDB has much stricter verification guidelines than Wikipedia and the premium source for movie entertainment information. Also, David's name seems to pop on a number of music videos and commercials scattered around the web which have their own Wikipedia pages. This therefore dovetails into other already-standing information on Wikipedia and by giving this person a page we are expanding the depth of knowledge and information. I would say that this confirmed awards and industry news put him in a category of notability in relation to his professional field.

The Great American Dream

What would you suggest? There's nothing for just essay/OR in the drop-down deletion menu, so I've usually selected either notability or advertising from the menu, and added essay, OR (+unsourced and/or pov if appropriate). I suppose I could not bother with the drop-down, and just add the manual essay/OR tag? I tend to automatically select something from the menu, and add to it if necessary. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 14:10, 4 September 2013 (UTC)

I would think that if it does not fit any speedy deletion criteria, then it would not be speedily deleted and would proceed through PROD or AFD. If material like this should be eligible for speedy deletion, then I would expect that it would be one of the items explicitly listed in the list of acceptable A& critria. -- Whpq (talk) 14:57, 4 September 2013 (UTC)

Big Brother clones

I see you have been nominating a number of fantasy Big Brother pages for deletion - (Special:WhatLinksHere/User:JordanNotMe, etc.). How have you been detecting these pages? I have a feeling that they are mostly independent rather than the work of sockpuppets. There seems to be something about the elimination table format that attracts people. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 10:42, 13 September 2013 (UTC)

I agree that most are individual accounts. Very few are sockpuppets although I did find one that was very pbvious, Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/DavidBren1. Many of these accounts are using Wikipedia as a web host for games being played on tengaged.com which is a site which apparently provides people with all the tools to play these games with the exception of content hosting. I'm using Advanced Search looking in USER and USER TALK space for strings which commonly occur in these pages. Looking for "tengaged" finds some. Looking for "survivor final tribal" (not in quotes) found a bunch for fantasy Survivor games. Looking for "Head of Household" (in quotes) turns up a lot of the fantasy Big Brother ones. You do need to comb through these carefully as some editors have an interest in the real TV versions of these games and have sandbox or subpages related to the real TV shows and are legitimately used for article development, and not as a free web host. Regards. -- Whpq (talk) 11:54, 13 September 2013 (UTC)

Thank you. That is what I thought. I will leave you to identify them and I will not waste time recording possible sockpuppetry when none exists. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 13:08, 13 September 2013 (UTC)

Rivalries & Matchups

In sports, is their a difference between a "rival" and a quirky matchup (e.g. Two teams from one state, both teams named "Sox", etc.)? 67.217.136.210 (talk) 14:07, 18 September 2013 (UTC)

I am aware of that. What's your point? -- Whpq (talk) 16:17, 18 September 2013 (UTC)
the point is do you think the bluejay-oriole match is simply a random matchup? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.236.1.39 (talk) 17:10, 18 September 2013 (UTC)
This is silly. The Jays and Orioles play in the same division and their games are scheduled by MLB. Any further discussion should be at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Battle of the Birds as discussing on my talk page is not productive. -- Whpq (talk) 18:10, 18 September 2013 (UTC)

Petia

Hello Whpq. Petia is an artist and all her music and work is wildly known under the name of "Petia" and not her legal name "Petia Pavlova". That is why the Wikipedia page name should be reverted to "Petia" or "Petia:entertainer" as it was and not "Petia Pavlova". There is is enough information for everyone who wants to know her legal name on the right side of the page, where all her details including the name she was born under is included. Regards — Preceding unsigned comment added by PetiaMusic (talkcontribs) 18:31, 27 September 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for doing that, I thought about it myself but I don't think it has a chance of being overturned, for reasons I can't say publicly without being chastised by other parties. Still I'm glad other parties get to see how ridiculous it was. Don't expect too much from DRV. -- Green Cardamom (talk) 17:33, 2 December 2013 (UTC)

Perhaps I'm missing it.

You've claimed that the majority of the Lindsay Rush article is a copyright violation, when the copy at https://www.facebook.com/lindsayrush/info is only similar to the copy on the article. Follow proper procedure. I want to see it gone just as much as you do, but this isn't the way. Walter Görlitz (talk) 17:41, 3 December 2013 (UTC)

I'm not sure I understand your comment. Aside from a bunch of stuff about her schooling, and the bullying material, eveerything else was copied verbatim from the facebook page. Did you click on the "see more" link on that facebook page. It expands out to a fuller biography. That material is 100% present in the Lindsay Rush article. The if you remove that copied material, all you have left is the above noted schooling and bullying info. Noen of that material is something that I would classify as "non-infringing content on the page worth saving" per WP:G12 which is why I originally tagged it for speedy deletion. But I can see where that is a bit of a judgment call. What is not a judgement call is tagging it for copyright review when the entirety of the facebook bio is present in the Wikipedia article and has been since the very first version. -- Whpq (talk) 17:49, 3 December 2013 (UTC)
OK. I don't see it being verbatim. I am comparing the current texts it's not a 1:1 match. I agree that the links are very close, but it will likely be deleted soon enough. Walter Görlitz (talk) 17:52, 3 December 2013 (UTC)
OK I see it now. I was comparing the current version that has been cleaned-up to the current Facebook version. Thanks for sticking to it. Walter Görlitz (talk) 17:58, 3 December 2013 (UTC)

TAMIKKO BEASTY...considered for deletion.

Hi... This is Tamikko. I am very new to the Wikipedia community. I can completely understand why you feel the way you feel. From what I was reading when starting my page last night, I didn't think it was up for viewing until so many edits later.

What I made last night was a template that I would correct with actual facts once I figured out how to navigate. I am not a "nonnotable". I have many credentials professionally based. Was referred to this page by viewing another Wikipedia user, that I know personally. We have similar backgrounds, so I was in the process of condensing my own information and figuring out the format.

I am not sure if I am answering this correctly. Please forgive. Have to review how to start a talk page.

In short, what I started out with is a rough draft and not what is intended for final viewing. I took the bio from another site and am reviewing it for edit.

I think I would be very much relevant to Wikipedia once my exact information is stated. I have produced many works and collaborations with legendary artists. But I do understand if my final page is still up for deletion.

I will come back when I have more substantial Wikipedia approved format if necessary. Or may enlist a professional Wikipedia editor to assemble my page for me.

Thank you kindly, TAMIKKO BEASTY (talk) 16:05, 7 February 2014 (UTC)Tamikko

Re: Mark McMorris' middle name

The link to McMorris' official Facebook page is "[Facebook.com/markleemcmorris]". For that reason, it is extremely plausible that "Lee" is his middle name. Amchow78 (talk) 15:31, 12 February 2014 (UTC)

Waldorfbp

Hi, I see you've observed some concerns with User:Waldorfbp. So have I. The editor seems to have a template, and is creating articles about dams using the template, and not using sufficient care. I do not see any evidence that the editor has responded to a talk page. I just deleted the most recent article the editor has been working on, I'm fairly certain it is a copyvio problem, but if not it can be restored. I cannot do much more today, but think we may need to be taking a close look at other articles created.--S Philbrick(Talk) 12:54, 16 April 2014 (UTC)

I had a quick look at some of the other articles. It looks like this person is just copying articles and changing some wording. This needs some more careful investigation. I suspect there are going to be multiple instances of copyright issues. -- Whpq (talk) 13:53, 16 April 2014 (UTC)
I see some have already been deleted, but I'm worried about them all. I'm out of town for a couple days, with limited internet access, so I'll check back later so we can decide whether a CCI is warranted, or maybe there are few enough to handle without that bureaucracy. I've worked on CCIs but never started one, so of course would fer to user:moonriddengirl for advice.--S Philbrick(Talk) 15:55, 16 April 2014 (UTC)

"My Pages..."

First of all, I found it amusing while reading the "reasons" while my pages are being considered for deletion. Second, my pages contain factual information about 1) A local TV channel that is available in select cities in Australia, displaying programming that is filmed in the United States, but broadcast in Australia. Sure, the "viewer details" are a highly fabricated, but everything else is very factual. 2) LeAnn and Deváud are both actual singers that HAVE released albums and singles and HAVE performed many of the opening songs on Onivia's programming. 3) DT is a real record label, a subsidiary of Onivia, previously titled Onivia Records. If you have any questions regarding my pages filled with MADEUP content, feel free to message me on my "Talk Page"

Thanks,

Hello Whpq, you have marked the page I created, Thomas Golubić, for deletion citing copyright issues. However, I work for Thomas and am creating the profile on behalf of the subject of the wikipedia entry (Thomas himself) and have permission to use the information I copied from our website to create the wikipedia article. I am new to creating Wikipedia pages and am wondering how to best go about creating a page for him using the information from our website without running into more issues with being flagged for deletion. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mallratbrodie95 (talkcontribs) 21:18, 6 May 2014 (UTC)

... and, by the way, since you do so much solid cleanup work, why is it that you aren't an admin? —Anne Delong (talk) 11:53, 10 June 2014 (UTC)
Thanks. Prior, to this recent focus on cleaning up user space, most of the things that I worked on wouldn't benefit from having admin tools available to me. Also, I'm not sure I'd have the time to devote to admin work, so I remain a mopless editor for now. Regards -- Whpq (talk) 12:22, 10 June 2014 (UTC)
Well, since I became an admin a few weeks ago I have mostly been just doing for myself some of the tasks that I used to ask admins to do, such as g13 and g6 deletions and a few history merges, plus a few other things that happened to come up on my watchlist. I figure that I am helping reduce the admin backlogs by at least not adding to them. Nobody has been pestering me to spend large amounts of time on admin work, which is good, because a lot of it I don't know how to do yet. I just mention this in case sometime in the future you reconsider. Anyway, thanks again for the cleanup work. —Anne Delong (talk) 17:08, 10 June 2014 (UTC)

The Wikipedia Library: New Account Coordinators Needed

Hi Books & Bytes recipients: The Wikipedia Library has been expanding rapidly and we need some help! We currently have 10 signups for free account access open and several more in the works... In order to help with those signups, distribute access codes, and manage accounts we'll need 2-3 more Account Coordinators.

It takes about an hour to get up and running and then only takes a couple hours per week, flexible depending upon your schedule and routine. If you're interested in helping out, please drop a note in the next week at my talk page or shoot me an email at: jorlowitz@gmail.com. Rick Otton

Hello Whpq, Although I've been a registered editor for some time, I'm not a big editor of Wikipedia but a big reader. So I'm not 100% sure the steps how to delete a user page. I've noticed you have some prior experience in getting promotional user pages deleted.

Please have a look at this user page User:Rick_Otton and determine in your opinion if it's a candidate for deletion. I feel write ups such as these have no place on Wikipedia. Aside from the promotional write up issue, this editor has contributed nothing on Wikipedia. Regards Surfing bird (talk) 08:15, 9 July 2014 (UTC)

It is structured like a WP:FAKEARTICLE, and is prommotional as well. Go ahead an nominate it for deletion. Regards. -- Whpq (talk) 10:59, 9 July 2014 (UTC)

article Maharana Pratap Engineering College put up for deletion

Dear Sir,

This is to bring to your kind notice that my article has been put up for deletion. I would like to know why and improve the mistakes whatsoever.

I don't know why it has been put put up for deletion. If you look at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Maharana Pratap Engineering College, you will see that it was nominated for deletion by Naveenpf (talk · contribs) without stating a reason why it should be deleted. You should ask him/her why. Regards. -- Whpq (talk) 10:34, 12 July 2014 (UTC)

Hello. I created Hôtel de Boisgelin, a disambiguation page, as there are more than one such places. I will try if I can create a few of them as stubs, but I am not very interested in France these days. Also, the French articles don't have inlined citations if I translate them, so it would be a lot of work to find the right citations. Feel free to create some of them. Those streets should also be created (they have pages on the French Wikipedia and are all main streets/roads), hence the red links on the disambiguation page. Thank you.Zigzig20s (talk) 20:40, 12 July 2014 (UTC)

Deleted Page with no reason

Hello,

I made a page MikroTik because i am expert of it and i like the name. Can you please clarify why did my page delete? As far as i know i never did anything wrong which is against the rule of Wiki, therefore i also have some rights to know my mistake which i didn't do.

Thank you!

It was because the the page was being used to host a resume. See WP:NOTRESUME. -- Whpq (talk) 11:01, 13 July 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the wikia tip. I didn't see your comment. I will create a page there and linkout from wikipedia.

BUT, is there any way to recover the wiki text I had written? Or is there no cache/history? I took me an hour to set up that bloody table :( Davidzet (talk) 12:06, 13 July 2014 (UTC)

You can ask the deleting administrator about getting a copy of the deleted material. As for linking out from Wikipedia, that would very likely be a violation of our external link policies. I suggest you look at listing it in something like DMOZ once you have it created. -- Whpq (talk) 12:21, 13 July 2014 (UTC)

Hello,

It is just to inform you that i do not know who are you? and what do you want from me?

Why are you defending my name? what will you get to do that? — Preceding unsigned comment added by MikroTik (talkcontribs)

Is you first sentence a question for me? As for your second question, I don't want anything particular from you. AS for the third question, I am not defending you in any way so your question makes no sense. And given that the third question makes no sense, the fourth question makes even less sense. Is there something specific you want answered? IUf so, be direct and clear. -- Whpq (talk) 13:23, 20 July 2014 (UTC)
