Unimportant message

Funny edits re pomposity...! It sometimes gets the best of us all. Pity that flag discussion is at such a low level. Illusions of this being an encyclopedia are quickly set aside when politics gets into the frame. Regards. Redking7 (talk) 13:30, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

Movements of RoI related articles

Hiya TT. On the contrary, it's best to change the core article first; the related articles later. GoodDay (talk) 15:03, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Hiya GoodDay. I couln't help myself adding that comment. It all seems far too political to enable these articles to remain stable. I won't hang aroung these articles for too long. It must be hard to filter out peoples POV from these articles and come to a sensible conclusion, as both sides can have arguments that can cancel each other out. Titch Tucker (talk) 15:10, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
Indeed, those British/Irish related articles have attracted heated discussions. PS- Don't be intimidated by it. GoodDay (talk) 15:14, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
GD, it's all water off a ducks back to me. I've never taken angry or forceful points to heart, not that anyone has been unkind to me, I kind of block those kind of things out. Titch Tucker (talk) 15:19, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
That's the Wiki spirit. GoodDay (talk) 15:25, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Flag of Ireland movement proposal

Hello TT. At first, I conditionally opposed it; but then I supported. But afterwards, I withdrew from it (thus cancelling my opinon). I got frustrated with the disputing. GoodDay (talk) 13:59, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

You're correct that the other editor put unnecessary comments in his reply, but part of his reply did relate to the article: "...i think if it went into this article, we would have to find some way to stick it in ther that doesn't look like we are making a political statement (if that's even possible!!!)". The reason I removed yours was that your response had nothing to do with the information from the original poster, and it didn't have anything to do with the article. It's very easy for the talk pages to turn into forums or chatrooms. Kman543210 (talk) 23:13, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

I shan't get in an edit war over something so silly, but I don't think a country not having guns is necessarily a negative thing. Regarding the comment "it must suck", personally, I would just ignore it (or you could delete it). I thought about deleting that too, but I don't usually delete partial comments, just entire ones that have no reference to an article. I considered part of his comment like a troll; some point you just have to ignore it, or it will turn into loads of people responding to each other. I was just trying to avoid something that I have seen in the past, but I wasn't trying to single you out. Kman543210 (talk) 23:23, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

Obama-mania

Nay! If Obama turns out to be a 1-term President, it won't set things back for African Americans. Afterall, the Republicans could easily nominate a African American for president in 2012 (they could've in 1996). GoodDay (talk) 15:38, 6 November 2008 (UTC)

The reason I was thinking it may happen that way was that after Margaret Thatchers reign as Prime Minister there has been an obvious lack of women being put up for party leaderships. Perhaps it will be different in the US. Titch Tucker (talk) 15:43, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
It may have been a good thing that the McCain-Palin ticket lost. Had they won, a Vice President Palin would've been under the same media attention as Vice President Quayle had been. One little mistake or mis-spoken word, she would've been branded an idiot for the rest of her public life. IMHO, she'd been better off, if McCain had not chosen her (I thought McCain would've chosen Pawlenty). It's so paradox: having been the 2008 veep nominee, may both help & hurt her in 2012. GoodDay (talk) 16:00, 6 November 2008 (UTC)

Yes, a Vice President Biden will make gaffes (at least he's got a track record of doing so). But he's 66 yrs old, been in Washington DC since 1973 & nobody questions his mental abilities. GW Bush was a unique case; I can't understand why his gaffes didn't hurt him in 2000 or 2004. GoodDay (talk) 16:47, 6 November 2008 (UTC)

I can only tell you how Palin is thought of from the UK. She really got a bad press here. Many political commentators here thought he shot himself in the foot when choosing her. Rightly or wrongly she was portrayed as someone with no depth of knowledge when asked some serious questions. How did the Canadian press portray her? Not forgetting the old adage, never trust the press. Titch Tucker (talk) 17:11, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
The Canadian press seemed to repeat what the American press said; But with less intensity. The Canadian presss didn't concentrate so much on the controversies themselves; but rather on how those incidents might be hurting McCain & Palin. GoodDay (talk) 18:24, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
It doesn't surprise me that the misogynist British press took the piss out of Palin. After all, she's an American, right-wing, and she's a woman. Three sins in the eyes of Billy Bragg-type journalists.Liberals hate women you know. That's why all those no-global female protestors refuse to wear make-up and generally look like hell.--jeanne (talk) 18:41, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
I never have been a fan of the British press. With much of the press being of a socialist nature she was always going to get a hard time here. Although, to be fair, the conservative press weren't exactly fawning all over her. Titch Tucker (talk) 18:48, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
That's an easy one to explain, she was American and female.--jeanne (talk) 19:06, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
You may be right they don't go for her because she's female. But as for being American, the press love Obama over here. Titch Tucker (talk) 19:13, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
IMO, Palin got mis-treated in the American press. Also, the Alaska jokes were taste-less. But, all fair in love & politics. GoodDay (talk) 19:17, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
Because Palin is a female American. Obama is male. Anyroad, she should have told them to f.ck off. I would have-and how!--jeanne (talk) 19:24, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
haha! I love your style Jeanne. Jeanne for President. Titch Tucker (talk) 19:31, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
There'd be a Lee Harvey Oswald-like patsy waiting for me, rifle at the ready on every bl--dy street corner in America-not just Dallas.--jeanne (talk) 19:34, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
Best not then. There would just be a cover up. Titch Tucker (talk) 19:36, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, and a new Warren report saying that one bullet fired from a war-surplus 1890 vintage rifle could do a Tony Manero.--jeanne (talk) 06:20, 7 November 2008 (UTC)
This sounds like something you have been interested in for a long time Jeanne. I presume you have a number of books on it? If you like, why don't you point a book out for me and I'll have a read. Titch Tucker (talk) 13:49, 7 November 2008 (UTC)
I haven't got any books. Hard to find them here in Italy. I'd like to read Don DeLillo's book on Oswald Libra. I used to have the original newspapers from the JFK assassination, but my sister has them now. I've watched a lot of programmes on the event plus I emember Oswald's murder as I saw it take place before my eyes. A young child shouldnt have to witness such an event but hanks to that sleazebag Ruby I was forced to.--jeanne (talk) 18:19, 7 November 2008 (UTC)

Republic of Canada

Fear not Titch. The 21st century is on our side. GoodDay (talk) 22:37, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

G2bambino & Roux

Hiya T. Yep, I've already made those suggestion to both of them. Recommended they'd either take a 1-month Wikibreak from those articles 'or' devide the articles-in-question between them; but to no avail. GoodDay (talk) 16:31, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

If I recall correctly, both rejected taking a Wiki-break, they felt it wouldn't help them work things out (with each other) & apon returning, they'd be no farther ahead (in terms of a settlement). As for dividing the articles they frequented? neither thought it workable. GoodDay (talk) 16:57, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
Well, it's up to G2bambino & Roux (as it always was). GoodDay (talk) 17:08, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

Ya'll should consider having 2 sections in that article. Sections independant countries & dependant countries. Either that or AfD the article, as its current status is confusing. GoodDay (talk) 19:55, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

I think just calling the article List of National flags could solve the issue. Titch Tucker (talk) 20:08, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
I must disagree. It's important not to present dependencies as equals to independencies. Example: Northern Ireland, Scotland, England & Wales are not equals of United Kingdom. GoodDay (talk) 20:14, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
A list of flags is exactly what it says, a list of flags. We are telling readers which flag belongs to which country. If we leave them out we are doing the readers a disservice by not informing them. Titch Tucker (talk) 20:19, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
Ya don't have to leave them out. The article needs re-arranging, with sections. Its current status creates the unintended impression that all the countries listed there, are independant & with equal status. GoodDay (talk) 20:22, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
Which is why I suggested changing the name of the article. Anyway, I'm not going to get my knickers in a twist over it, I'm actually quite enjoying the discussion. Am I allowed to do that? :) Titch Tucker (talk) 20:27, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
The name change wouldn't fix the article's content problem, though. GoodDay (talk) 20:30, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
I still don't see the problem GD. Titch Tucker (talk) 20:33, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
No matter what the title is, the content gives an erroneous impression to readers. The impression? all places here are on equal footing. Again, divide the article into appropiate sections. GoodDay (talk) 20:38, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
We shall agree to disagree GoodDay. Titch Tucker (talk) 20:44, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
Okie Dokie. GoodDay (talk) 20:48, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

(outdent) Don't take those things personally Titch. I've been called a Unionist, British PoV pusher, Irish PoV pusher etc etc. Besides, Yman88 has apologized. GoodDay (talk) 21:39, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

I of course accepted the apology. Cheers GoodDay. Titch Tucker (talk) 21:41, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
Always great to see fellow Wiki members patching things up. GoodDay (talk) 21:43, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
I wasn't angry or spitting blood, just a little dissapointed. Titch Tucker (talk) 21:52, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
It will solve the problems, surely it will. GoodDay (talk) 16:46, 16 November 2008 (UTC)
If it doesn't work? the next option is deletion of England, Scotland, Northern Ireland & Wales. GoodDay (talk) 17:01, 16 November 2008 (UTC)
I sure miss the good old days on Wikipedia. When England, Scotland, Northern Ireland & Wales were called constituent countries. Another option I have? delete the entire article. GoodDay (talk) 17:10, 16 November 2008 (UTC)
Titch, agreeing or disagreeing on an article is Okie Dokie. There's nothing personal about it. GoodDay (talk) 19:27, 16 November 2008 (UTC)
That's cool. Didn't want you to think I was part of any ganging up on you. Titch Tucker (talk) 19:30, 16 November 2008 (UTC)
It never crossed my noggin. GoodDay (talk) 19:32, 16 November 2008 (UTC)
No prob. GoodDay (talk) 01:12, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
I hear ya. GoodDay (talk) 15:20, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

I've thrown in the towel

Hiya Tich. Originally on the articles List of flags by country & List of countries, I preferred having England, Wales, Northern Ireland & Scotland not shown. However, I decided to be more NPOV & attempt a compromise (i.e. Eng/Wal/NI/Scot being put under the UK). But that too, was slapped down. Therefore, I've left those inconsistant articles. I hoped to make things less confusing for less famliar viewers/readers; but I've failed. I just couldn't get my point across (my fault). GoodDay (talk) 16:32, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

I came here to try and improve and create articles and have found myself getting caught up in this debate, I haven't edited an article for two days now, It's so easy to get caught up in all this. There seems to be more editors taking part in the discussion, so I, like you, will exit the debate and go on my merry way. Titch Tucker (talk) 20:57, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

Are you an Irish Scot or plain Scot?

Sorry to be nosy but are you a Glaswegian Scot or Irish-Scot from Glasgow?--jeanne (talk) 17:35, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
I'm a plain old Glaswegian Scot from Glasgow with a great grandfather from Ireland, a grandmother from the Netherlands and the rest as far as I know from Scotland. I knew neither of them I'm afraid, they had passed away before I came along. I spent a lot of my formative years living in New Zealand. Titch Tucker (talk) 20:22, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
Do you have a Glaswegian accent or New Zealand?--jeanne (talk) 05:50, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
I returned to Scotland when I was 19 with an accent that wouldn't pass for Glaswegian in a million years. Over 30 years my accent gradually changed till I was taken for the Glaswegian that I am (I was born in Glasgow). Funnily enough, when I go back to visit New Zealand to see my siblings I start to sound like a Kiwi again, I just seem to slip back into it. Titch Tucker (talk) 13:45, 18 November 2008 (UTC)

Mary, Queen of Scots

Titch, I know you have no use for royalty, but here is an interesting fact for you, a Scot. Did you know that the most famous woman in Scottish history, Mary, Queen of Scots was genetically only 1/64 Scottish! She was mostly French. Actually, the French and Scottish were allies for centuries (against the English)--jeanne (talk) 08:35, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
I knew that Jeanne, the Scots called it the Auld Alliance. Titch Tucker (talk) 13:45, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
Hi guys. What's the genetic mix for Charles Windsor, then? Must be mostly German & Greek, I'd have thought. Daicaregos (talk) 15:12, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
I would imagine so, though there is sure to be plenty of others, what with the old European monarchy's marrying their sons and daughters off to each other to keep it in the family. They couldn't have them marrying commoners (I never thought of myself as common, but there you go). I'm sure when Jeanne comes back on line she can give us his full genetic makeup. :) Titch Tucker (talk) 15:33, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
The Queen is mostly German and Danish from her dad, with a touch of Hungarian from Mary of Teck, and Scots-English from her mum. Philip had no native Greek blood, he was mainly German, Danish and Russian. The Queen is also a descendant of Brian Boru, Philip is related to the Romanovs. Prince Charles is a direct descendant of Mary, Queen of Scots who was half-French. Mountbatten is really Battenberg-German. Diana was English, Irish, Anglo-American, Scottish, Armenian, and of course, many of her ancestors were Normans, although there's Saxon blood as well.--jeanne (talk) 17:04, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
Oh no, Charles & I have the same amount of English in us (1/8th). Difference is I've never pretended I was. Thanks for that, though, it was fascinating. I've never really taken much notice of them before, as they are pretty well irrelevant to me (other than how much they cost). Why's Philip known as 'Phil the Greek', then? Daicaregos (talk) 20:30, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
Titch, don't worry just because you are a commoner doesnt make you common. Perish the thought. I appreciate how you stood up for me while I was being verbally mauled by my dear friend Mr DG.--jeanne (talk) 18:54, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
Diana was a descendant many times over from Charles II and his various mistresses, also his brother James II was her ancestor.--jeanne (talk) 17:06, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
Your welcome Jeanne. Although I know you can more than stick up for yourself it does no harm when someone else comes in to set things straight. I don't have much time for bullys anyway. PS: You see, I knew you could tell us Charles Windsors genetic mix. Titch Tucker (talk) 19:15, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
That guy seems to be obsessed about analysing me! Why is he so damned interested in what I call myself and WHY? He seems to think I'm going to jump off a roof because of his insults. LOL. Why has he chosen poor ME to attack?--jeanne (talk) 19:24, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
Best thing to do in a situation like that is ignore him, I think he is looking for a reaction from you. I'm not even sure he believes his own pov. Trust me, ignore him and he'll find someone else to irritate. Titch Tucker (talk) 19:30, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
Oh by the way, Charles' name is actually Charles Battenberg (Mountbatten), seeing that that's his father's name. Elizabeth's maiden name is Guelph.--jeanne (talk) 19:39, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
I don't think they will change it to the House of Battenburg somehow, in place of the totally fabricated (we are not German, honest) House of Windsor. Titch Tucker (talk) 19:52, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
All due to the anti-German propaganda during WW1. Even the Russian Empress Alix who was German took a lot of abuse for being German. The Romanovs, in fact, had little Russian blood, they were German and Danish. Tsar Nicholas' most recent Russian ancestor was Grand Duchess Anna, a daughter of Peter the Great and Catherine I.--jeanne (talk) 19:59, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
Daicaregos, Philip is called The Greek due to the fact that he was born on the island of Corfu and his father was Prince Andrew of Greece. The Greek Royal Family, however, was Danish not ethnic Greek. The ancestry of the Royal families of Europe contains much Greek blood from the medieval Byzantines, such as this lady Irene Angelina.--jeanne (talk) 07:05, 19 November 2008 (UTC)

UK parts

Hiya Titch. Though a tea totaler in real life; I think I'm on a Wiki-drunk (feeling sorry for myself). GoodDay (talk) 23:04, 19 November 2008 (UTC)

Yeehaa, I'm back. Fully functional & focused again. GoodDay (talk) 17:39, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
Woo Hoo! The return of the real GoodDay! Glad to see you back firing on all cylinders, keep up the good work GD. Titch Tucker (talk) 17:43, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
You've both been quiet today. Dreary November does tend to bring one down into the dumps.--jeanne (talk) 17:56, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
Hi Jeanne, I've not had much chance to sit down today, mostly been out in the dreary damp Glasgow weather. GD was saying it was snowing where he lives, I hate the snow, I'd rather have a downpour. How's the weather in your neck of the woods? Titch Tucker (talk) 18:02, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
Very cold for this time of the year. Normally Novembers are dreary but not this cold. I hate rain. I'd take the snow anyday. Sun is number one though ha ha. Ive a sore neck. Ive created two articles since yesterday (well stubs really) and Im wiped out.--jeanne (talk) 18:09, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
Check them out, they are just your cup of tea (hahahahahahahah)--jeanne (talk) 18:11, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
Not for me Jeanne, I prefer coffee (hohohohohoho). You sound pretty tired, why don't you take nap and dream of the French revolution (hehehehe). Titch Tucker (talk) 18:19, 20 November 2008 (UTC)

One night, I dreamt I was a muffler. I woke up exhausted. GoodDay (talk) 19:14, 20 November 2008 (UTC)

Hello darkness, my old friend/I've come to talk with you again......Dreams are bizarre. Believe me guys, you don't want to ever, and I do mean ever, get caught up in one of my dreams.--jeanne (talk) 10:21, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
Titch, check out the bottom of my talk page for the perfect dream. Now I'd never want to wake up from a dream like that!--jeanne (talk) 15:38, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
You should have been a romantic novelist Jeanne. Titch Tucker (talk) 15:48, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
How do you know I aint? Actually, I have written a few historical romances (for my eyes only), but they are, alas, more smutty than romantic. Sign of the times.....sigh.--jeanne (talk) 17:50, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

A scary thought

I've been watching the discussions on Scotland, Northern Ireland & Countries of the United Kingdom. -- GoodDay (talk) 18:16, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

It seems to be kicking off at the Northern Ireland talk page. I was given the advice to walk away before posting something I might regret, I hope some of the editors there are doing that right now. Titch Tucker (talk) 18:21, 23 November 2008 (UTC)
Hopefully, things will turn out fine. GoodDay (talk) 18:25, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

Mystery Guy

I'm assuming Jeanne never went with him. GoodDay (talk) 01:32, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

I'm not 100% sure GD. Titch Tucker (talk) 01:42, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
Just ta be safe, I left her a note. GoodDay (talk) 01:44, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
Probably best. She did say he asked her to marry him, so I'm assuming there was something there. Of course, she could be pulling our leg. Titch Tucker (talk) 01:47, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
Titch, Terry really did ask me to marry him. He was just a friend to me, actually he was very nice, just a bit of a wally. Not my type
this is more my style
, I'm afraid.--jeanne (talk) 06:04, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
I use to have a thing for Olivia Newton John, but unfortunately she never got a chance to meet me. I'm sure she regrets it to this day. Titch Tucker (talk) 06:20, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
Send her your photo so she can see what you look like (hint hint).--jeanne (talk) 09:12, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
I've often theorized, that Richards died years ago. But since nobody has told him of his physical condition, he continues to peform. PS- Cig sitting at head of guitar, very Richards 'man'. GoodDay (talk) 15:42, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
If you guys want to see a definition of cool, go check out the Stones on YouTube performing Under My Thumb at Altamont, it shows Keith with cigarette in mouth, so slick. Mick with his cool out, relax bit is a tad embarrassing, however.--jeanne (talk) 15:49, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
"...the change has come, she's under my thumb..." GoodDay (talk) 16:29, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
Under my thumb is a little siamese cat of a girl...Miow.--jeanne (talk) 17:40, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
Yep, the Stones rock. My Stone favs? This could be the last time & Let's spend the night together (or as the censures demanded: ..some time together..). GoodDay (talk) 17:50, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
Look at my user page for my fave Stones songs. Bitch is another great one, as are Blue Turns To Grey, Sympathy For The Devil, Tell Me, and Faraway Eyes. Oh, I forgot one of their raunchy numbers Stray Cat Blues I betcha she never saw you...Scratch my back...What hornballs. I always did envy Anita Pallenberg.--jeanne (talk) 18:05, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

Award

Have a barnstar...

The Special Barnstar
for doing the right thing and agreeing not to discuss Scotland's country/nation/state/fruitcake status until next year. Derek Ross | Talk 16:14, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

Caterina Sforza

The barnstar is greatly merited. Congratulations. Hey, Titch are you up to a challenge? Here's an article that needs to be grammatically corrected:Caterina Sforza. As it stands now, it's a disaster zone. Do you want to give it a try? I'm outta here, man. I already wrote an article on her aunt and expanded the stub on her half-sister. Enough is enough, I mean, I like writing about noble ladies, but this time, I cannot handle it. No way, Jose.--jeanne (talk) 14:13, 26 November 2008 (UTC)
I had a look at it, Jeanne, and started work on it. Unfortunately, I got a little bit bored with it, I know, it helps improve wiki. Sorry, Jeanne, these articles on royalty and such just give me a headache, no hard feelings I hope. :) Titch Tucker (talk) 17:37, 26 November 2008 (UTC)
As a self-proclaimed casualty of the Scotland article. I applaud your Barnstar. GoodDay (talk) 17:46, 26 November 2008 (UTC)
Thanks GD. As I said to Derek, I shall now visit many more article talk pages and be reasonable. One day I shall invent the reasonable Barnstar. :) Titch Tucker (talk) 17:52, 26 November 2008 (UTC)
Hey GD, I have only just noticed, a belated well done for your Royalty and Nobility Barnstar. Titch Tucker (talk) 18:06, 26 November 2008 (UTC)
I had a barnstar aswell. But I deleted it, as at the time, I didn't know how to archive my talk-pages (at least it in posterity). It's best that such awards be placed on a User's front page. I wish I could restore it & have it on my Userpage; not because of vanity, but because It was given to me by somebody else. GoodDay (talk) 23:41, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

My award was for fighting diacritics on Ice hockey articles. GoodDay (talk) 00:00, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
Sheepishly asking, could you place mine on my Userpage? GoodDay (talk) 00:06, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
I've been trying GD, It seems to be getting mixed up with your other award, sorry. Titch Tucker (talk) 00:14, 27 November 2008 (UTC
I've sorta copied my other Award down. The results weren't what I hoped for. GoodDay (talk) 00:20, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the Award, Titch. A Canadian, Brit & Irish making peace; luv it. GoodDay (talk) 00:23, 27 November 2008 (UTC)

Yep, the lost Award was given to me in June 2007, by RGTraynor. I sorta placed it on the Userpage (yesterday). It's within my Royalty Barnstar. GoodDay (talk) 15:30, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
Thank you again, Titch. GoodDay (talk) 15:40, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
Titch, I was only joking! I honestly didn't expect you to sit down for days at an end and edit the Caterina Sforza article. Who has that amount of free time? It gave me a migraine just to read it. The whole article needs to be re-written as the sentences are all badly-structured, tenses incorrect, in short, an editor's nightmare. I have my own articles to edit, I just do not have to time to unravel Caterina Sforza as much as I admire the feisty lady.--jeanne (talk) 09:43, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
I lasted all of 5 minutes Jeanne, I dont envy anyone who decides to take it on. Titch Tucker (talk) 12:31, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
Well it sure aint gonna be me. On a serious note, isn't it terrible what's happening in Bombay at the moment? There's no safety anywhere in the world.--jeanne (talk) 12:50, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
Looks like their going to send in the Indian commandos. It's a dangerous world to be a westerner nowadays. Titch Tucker (talk) 13:31, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
I agree. They're targetting the Americans and British-as usual.--jeanne (talk) 16:03, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
They don't care about peoples individual politics. If our governments have a foreign policy which doesn't jibe with their political ideas, its bad news for us. Titch Tucker (talk) 22:54, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
Since when does the west have an obligation to please them, politically or otherwise? It's time we stopped dancing to their tune.--jeanne (talk) 05:49, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
I broke down and rewrote the lead on the Caterina Sforza article. How does it look now? That'a all I'm doing as it's extremely time-consuming to do the hundreds of corrections the article needs.--jeanne (talk) 08:22, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
You made a good job of it Jeanne. Titch Tucker (talk) 10:04, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
Thanks Titch. The article needs major work as each sentence has to be evaluated and rewritten. There is so much extraneous information and most of the time the sentences don't even make sense. In short, it's an editor's nightmare. A pity because the aricle is about a notable person and does contain a lot of information. I wish it had been better composed.--jeanne (talk) 14:10, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

Ha ha, I've figured out what the problem was with my Royalty Award. It was missing the closer (|}). GoodDay (talk) 17:44, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

Scottish football

Hi Titch. Since its a Thanksgiving, I found the time to do a (belated) search for information on the Partick Thistle article this morning, but couldn't come up with anything, I'm afraid. Information on old footballers tend to be scare unless their are internationalists. My only suggestion is that you ask User:Caledonian Place for help. He has access to good sources on Scottish football history, though he has been absent from Wikipedia for a while.

I noticed also that you were looking for an image of Bobby Lennox. I'm not sure there will be any with the appropriate copyleft status. You could try and make a fair use claim on a scan of an old photo perhaps, which might stick. I'm not sure what the current consensus of opinion is on fair use images of people are on Wikipedia (it tends to change).

Finally, kudos to you for diving into non-controversial article-space after first dipping your toes into Troubled waters. Your recent contributions deserve:

The Sports Barnstar
for improving our coverage of Scottish football. Rockpocket 22:40, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

Congratulations Titch

Wow, I see you have another barnstar on your page. You deserve it. Oh, take a look at Caterina Sforza now please. I've done what I could with the grammar. Is it ok now?--jeanne (talk) 18:09, 29 November 2008 (UTC)
I've had a look at it Jeanne. You've put a lot of hard work and time into it, and you've done a great job. I'm very impressed by your work on wikipedia as a whole, your page will one day be full of Barnstars. Titch Tucker (talk) 18:39, 29 November 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for your praise. I confess that article was a nightmare. Some of the sentences made absolutely no sense at all. At times I had to guess at why they were trying to convey. I hope it looks ok. I'm not doing any more work on it, even though it still needs to be tidied-up, and it's far too long and novel-like for an encyclopedia. Thank you again for your compliments, Titch, I appreciate them. Cheers.--jeanne (talk) 19:16, 29 November 2008 (UTC)

(outdent) Congrats, Titch. GoodDay (talk) 19:28, 29 November 2008 (UTC)

Ireland page moves

Holy smokers, Titch. An objection against the recent page moves is growing (which isn't a surprise). Indeed, the air has come out of my 'party balloons'. GoodDay (talk) 18:30, 30 November 2008 (UTC)

I think much of it depends on how brave the admin concerned is (I'm presuming he won't just fold). It was always going to be controversial, but then the status quo was also controversial. Interesting times ahead. Titch Tucker (talk) 18:39, 30 November 2008 (UTC)
Yep, we've just had the first page move revert. Time to get out my 'football helmet' (yet again). GoodDay (talk) 18:49, 30 November 2008 (UTC)

(Outdent) After a day's reflection. IMHO, moving Republic of Ireland to Ireland (state), may have been hasty. I want the article as Ireland (state), but not this way. GoodDay (talk) 23:21, 30 November 2008 (UTC)

I was just a little confused over the way you put it. All I've been doing on wiki today is looking in on the discussions, I have'nt been very productive today. PS, don't tell anyone, but I don't have a strong opinion either way. Titch Tucker (talk) 23:26, 30 November 2008 (UTC)

I'm hoping Sarah won't pulverize me. GoodDay (talk) 23:35, 30 November 2008 (UTC)

Living Quarters

Re: this exchange on Rockpocket's talk page:

"At the seaside"? There is about 4 inches of white crystalline precipitation covering my back garden, the pond is frozen, the wind is knocking small branches onto the deck and it has just, since I started typing this, begun to snow again. Want to trade? ៛ Bielle (talk) 21:19, 30 November 2008 (UTC)
Pond! Deck! I live in a cardboard box in the middle of town, and its raining! Wanna swap? Titch Tucker (talk) 21:35, 30 November 2008 (UTC)

If your cardboard box has a high-speed internet connection, I just might consider it. You don't have to (pay someone to) shovel rain and I am so far out in the country, and so well buried in trees, that I am told I would need a 12-metre tower to get wireless/satellite connectivity. I guess I could shovel some snow while I wait for Wikipedia to save this comment. Oh, almost forgot, is your box big enough for a standing easel, and a wheelchair? ៛ Bielle (talk) 05:44, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

Oh, listen to the rhythm of the falling rain...Titch, it's so windy here that were I to go the beach I'd be blown across the Ionian Sea to Greece-on second thought that does sound like a most tempting option seeing as I've never visited the Hellenes. Honestly, the beach where I spend my summers is bleak, dreary and depressing in winter. Even the hunky lifeguards have long gone home.--jeanne (talk) 07:12, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
Its a deluxe box Jeanne, wide screen satellite tv, four piece suite, chandelier, and enough room for loads of standing easels and wheelchairs. But its still a box!! Sorry to hear about your bleak beach, we in Scotland have some of the greatest beaches in the world. I visited Skye once, and the beaches went on for ever, unfortunately, so did the sheep, they were everywhere on the beach. After dodging them and their little parcels I reached the water, lovely, 30 seconds and I was howling with the cold racing out of the water, trampling over the sheep, blue with the cold (me, not the sheep) before collapsing back into the car whimpering like a little girl. You don't know what your missing, if you want a sickie off work its the perfect way. Titch Tucker (talk) 10:39, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
I visited the Isle of Skye in 1979. Very beautiful in a stark, remote, forgotten-by-the-cruel-march-of-time manner. I remember the mountains not the beaches.I took photos but they turned out dark due to my crappy camera.--jeanne (talk) 15:02, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
Ya know what I do when I can't sleep? I stay awake. GoodDay (talk) 15:55, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
Instead of counting sheep, just list your favourite fellow Wikipedia editors-ha ha ha--jeanne (talk) 07:29, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

Agnese del Maino

Titch, I trust you to give me an honest opinion. I have just created a new article: Agnese del Maino. How does it look to you? Did you notice any errors? Thanks. I realise that royals and nobility are not exactly your scene, but it's a short aticle and I respect your opinion. Cheers.--jeanne (talk) 17:43, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
Hi Jeanne, I have had a look. The one thing I would point out is your references. We can't reference other wikipedia articles as you did with the second reference. The first reference I presume is from a book, so you should search for the ISBN number. The third ref is a website which I can't seem to get, but it also needs to be linked to that website. It's well written Jeanne, but if you have any trouble fixing your refs let me know and I'll try to help you with it. Do I sound as though I know what I'm talking about? ;) Titch Tucker (talk) 19:57, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
I see you have fixed my refs. The book I have listed has no ISBN number, neither does the 1907 book. It was kind of you to help me out. Thank you once again. Cheers.--jeanne (talk) 09:38, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

Check out the 40th Canadian Parliament article & CBC news website (If you're interested, of course). GoodDay (talk) 00:12, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

Right, so the conservative government may get pushed out by a coalition if there is a vote of no confidence. It'll be interesting to see what the Governor General will do, will she use her powers which are said to be ceremonial? Can she really use those powers? Titch Tucker (talk) 00:23, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
Yep, she has the powers. If the Conservative goverment is defeat in a confidence vote, she'll have to choose. Follow Harper's advice (dissolve Parliament & calls election) or follow Dion/Layton's advice, backed by Duceppe (appoint a Lib/NDP coalition government). GoodDay (talk) 00:30, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
My opinion? Call elections. The voters didn't vote for the coalition, let them have their say. Titch Tucker (talk) 00:33, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
Except we had elections about seven weeks ago that voted in the current government and MPs. And the parliament has only been in session for two weeks. It's a bit of a laugh. Canterbury Tail talk 02:51, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
Yep, that's my opinon too. Even though it would be the third Fed election in less then 3 yrs. GoodDay (talk) 00:36, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
Was the last election due to a vote of no confidence? Titch Tucker (talk) 00:45, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
Nope, Harper complained that the opposition parties were basically making life in Parliament difficult; therefore (in hopes of a Majority government) he got the GG to dissolve Parliament (and call elections). GoodDay (talk) 00:48, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
I don't mind coalition governments, as long as the party with the largest vote are part of it. Otherwise, a general election is the right thing Titch Tucker (talk) 00:56, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
The very fact that this proposed coalition government will be 'propped up' by the BQ (a Quebec seperatist party), is mind-boggling. GoodDay (talk) 01:05, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
It would be really interesting to see how Canadians outside of Quebec would vote if presented with a Lib-NDP coalition propped-up by separatists.
Question is, when will that election be? no latter then 2012 is all that's certain. GoodDay (talk) 18:47, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

(outdent) I am not sure that the G-G has complete freedom to choose. I believe, subject to correction by someone who knows, that if there is compelling evidence that the current parliament, as elected, can be effective under a different leader, then that is the course she must choose. After all, we elect the parliament, not the leader, and the combined weight of the electorate was behind the other three parties in that election. It will be an interesting week. ៛ Bielle (talk) 19:31, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

It's a tricky situation. Though in the 2008 election, a majority voted against the Conservatives, a larger majority voted against the Liberals & an even larger majority voted against the NDP. As for the BQ? they only ran candidates within Quebec. GoodDay (talk) 19:39, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
I am not sure that you can characterize a vote for one party as, necessarily, being a vote against another party. We don't do "Support, Oppose", just "Support", except at WP. I can only use a personal example: if I had been allowed "support, oppose", I would have supported the Green Party, opposed the Conservatives and said nothing about the NDP and the Liberals. If the Bloc had been in my area, I would also have been neutral about them, at the moment. (Any of this could change with time; I merely use this specific election as an example.) ៛ Bielle (talk) 19:53, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
When the confidence motion vote occurs (likely sometime between Dec 8 & Jan 27), I'll be waiting to see what the GG will decide. It's exciting stuff, folks. GoodDay (talk) 20:41, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
Update: I guess that confidence vote will likely be on January 27th, 2009. GoodDay (talk) 00:45, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
I was talking to a couple of pals in the pub last night who were brought up in Montreal, and they, like me, had not heard of the crisis. I guess the same could be said of the US and Canadian media concerning the UK, in that they concentrate on their own domestic issues. Either that or I'm watching the wrong news channels. Titch Tucker (talk) 21:04, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
CBC & CTV news are the guys, who cover it the most. GoodDay (talk) 22:06, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
I'll be keeping an eye on it. It's caught my interest now, particulary the Governor General and the decision she has to make. Titch Tucker (talk) 22:18, 6 December 2008 (UTC)

Help!!

Titch, I hate to bother you but I need you help with an external link to the new aricle I created yesterday: Bianca Riario. The link is www.paliodellecontrade.com/index.php? Thanks ever so muh for your help. I just cannot get the hang of those external links.--jeanne (talk) 07:26, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
Jeanne, you will have to find a link to an English language website. As far as I'm aware a foreign language reference is not permitted. Titch Tucker (talk) 09:41, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
I'll have a look for an English language external link. The other refs I've given are in English. In the meanwhile, I'll leave the Italian link there until I find an English website. Actually, the link can probably be translated into English by most computers. Mine translates into Italian if I click to the translator. Thank you for your help, it's much appreciated.--jeanne (talk) 10:25, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
I added a reference for you, and although it isn't an English language website, it does have a family tree diagram. Titch Tucker (talk) 16:50, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
Thanks a million, Titch.--jeanne (talk) 19:53, 6 December 2008 (UTC)

North American joksters

Yep. Thought he'd fallen out with you for a minute. Titch Tucker (talk) 16:48, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
Nay! Northern Ireland topics tend to be emotional. A harmless joke, can sometimes be taken the wrong way. But, he & I have patched things up. GoodDay (talk) 16:52, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
Good stuff. I reckon the problem is that some jokes don't translate very well to writing, they need to be there in person to get it. Titch Tucker (talk) 16:57, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
I've a confession though. I do prefer having all those English, Scottish, Welsh & Northern Irish actors/actresses as British; ha ha ha. GoodDay (talk) 17:04, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
That's it you North American jokester! Where do I complain about you? Titch Tucker (talk) 17:08, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
There's gotta be a someplace. GoodDay (talk) 17:11, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
Nah, it's alright. I'm over it now. PS, are you sure your not Italian? "There's gotta be a someplace". Titch Tucker (talk) 17:13, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
Giggle, giggle. I do like a spaghettio, eh. GoodDay (talk) 17:20, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

Scotland

Hiya Titch. Actually, Scotland had seven monarchs named James. A King James of the UK, would be James VIII. PS- don't forget James II of England was also James VII of Scotland (or Scots). GoodDay (talk) 17:57, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

I was on the way to changing it when your message flashed up. Honest! Titch Tucker (talk) 18:00, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

Err, technically there's been 42 US Presidents (Cleveland was counted twice, do to serving non-consecutive terms). OK, I'm nitpicking. GoodDay (talk) 18:08, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

Interesting,I didn't know that, when Obama is sworn in as President will it be as the 43rd or 44th. Titch Tucker (talk) 18:14, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
Obama? he'll be the 43rd person to become President. But, he'll be the 44th President, as the USA counts by the Presidencies (the office). In other words, Obama's Presidency, will be the USA's 44th Presidency. GoodDay (talk) 18:28, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
Gotcha. Titch Tucker (talk) 18:30, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

Amerike - debate

Hi Titch Tucker.

From what I have seen so far you are have the best intentions with the project, and your edits seem well sourced. I think the issue with the whole Amerike theory debate is not so much that it is not well sourced, but a matter of balance. Some article tend to grow to immensely long proportions (such as the US article). Sometimes this means that relevant information has to be moved to subarticles or not mentioned at all, just to keep the article readable. As the naming of the continent is of minor importance for the country you could argue that the naming of the continent should not be even treated in that article. In any case, we shoud only mention the most common theory. This has nothing to do with not believing in the alternative idea, ony with keeping the article to a length that readers do not run away halfway through because it is too long. I hope you have no hard feelings about my statements on that talk and wish you happy editing. Arnoutf (talk) 11:42, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

See, my responses at BritishWatcher's page. GoodDay (talk) 15:42, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

Football player statistics

It's actually easier to use league statistics than all competitions. Some of the main websites don't include cup games, or include some but not others. Jmorrison230582 (talk) 19:54, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

For a player like Bobby Lennox (post war, but before the internet era), I would use Newcastle Fans for club statistics, and either London Hearts or the SFA national team archive for international stats. Newcastle Fans would normally show him moving overseas and split his Celtic statistics. Jmorrison230582 (talk) 20:12, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

Happy Holidays

Back after the New Year

  • Thanks, Happy Holidays to you. See ya in 2009, be good. GoodDay (talk) 15:29, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

Countries List

I still disagree with including England, Scotland, Northern Ireland & Wales. The United Kingdom is all that's required. GoodDay (talk) 00:51, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

I know you do GD. I don't understand why though. If the home countries are verifiably countries why shouldn't they be included, whether or not they are sovereign? Titch Tucker (talk) 00:54, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
Oh hello Titch, I see you're back!--jeanne (talk) 06:05, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
On and off Jeanne. I promised the family I'd stay off it for Christmas, we've got family staying. Titch Tucker (talk) 06:10, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

After reflections. Scotland, England, Northern Ireland & Wales can not be exceptions. Only independants should be listed. GoodDay (talk) 19:41, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

FWIW, It don't matter to me, what's used on that article (though I prefer constituent country), as long as it's in sync with England, Wales and Scotland. -- GoodDay (talk) 18:29, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

I'm not jumping into this one guys, as I attracted too much hostility when I butted into British Isles and was basically told Yankee go home. No way, Jose am I getting into this battleground. My sword is rusty and it's edge needs sharpening, so, for now I had better stick to medieval noblewomen, blimps, and Bernie Geoffrion!--jeanne (talk) 08:50, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the message. The article you sent me was what got me looking and led me to the UN report [1]. Cheers Fishiehelper2 (talk) 23:48, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

Greenland

Further to the 'countries that are countries but not independent' discussion, Greenland is also described as a country here though it is not an independent country. Cheers Fishiehelper2 (talk) 16:05, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

It would certainly fit the criteria of a country with this source and others to back it up. My discussions have centered around the home countries, as I know more on this subject, but any land in the world which has plentiful verifiable sources to back their country claims should be included. Whether it is pointed out that these countries are part of a larger sovereign country is perhaps not my first choice, but nevertheless, either way they should be included. Titch Tucker (talk) 16:15, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
I think the point is that England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are not the only countries in the world that are countries though also part of larger states. Cheers for now Fishiehelper2 (talk) 16:52, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

Userboxes

Hey Titch, what do you think of my userboxes? I put lots up today now I can do the curlies--jeanne (talk) 17:41, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
Looks good, Jeanne. Will you be adding any more? I think I'll put a userbox in saying "this user has no user boxes". That should confuse them. PS; I see your talk page is getting quite long. Have you thought of creating an archive? Your choice, but most people do that when it get's to a certain length. Titch Tucker (talk) 18:14, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
I hope you don't mind, I placed a collapsable archive box on your talk page. It's quite a basic one where you cut and paste whatever you want to archive. If you don't want it you can just delete it. Titch Tucker (talk) 18:27, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
Thanks Titch but how do I put stuff in the archives? Oh Merry Christmas!--jeanne (talk) 07:04, 25 December 2008 (UTC)

Intuition. He obviously set up his account just to talk to you! He's probably too shy to say what he really means. Titch Tucker (talk) 12:43, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
Maybe he's into a teacher/student fantasy. He thinks that by chastising me, I'll become the girl in The Police video, Don't Stand So Close To Me--jeanne (talk) 12:45, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
We'll see if he get's back to you. Titch Tucker (talk) 13:07, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
Ooooooh, I can't wait!!!!!You do know that Bullen was the original spelling of Anne Boleyn's name. Hmmmm, strange he used that as his user name.--jeanne (talk) 13:15, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
Strange indeed! Congratulations! It looks like you may have a stalker. Titch Tucker (talk) 13:45, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
He'll have a hard time getting to me on Mount Etna--jeanne (talk) 13:58, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
GoodDay has been silent these past couple of days. Without you, GD and Sarah, Wikipedia is just a wee bit of a drag, unless one is working on an article. At the moment, I have not found one to create.--jeanne (talk) 14:44, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
I'm sure he'll be back up and running after the new year. He's probably edited every day since he joined wiki, a couple of days away will probably do him the world of good. Titch Tucker (talk) 14:52, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
I'm hoping to find another noblewoman to write about. I get restless unless I'm working on an article.--jeanne (talk) 15:00, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

Time waits for no one

Time is running out, Titch! 1969 is almost upon us!--jeanne (talk) 21:45, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

BTW, Welcome back

Now that you and GoodDay are back we can definitely get the party started, what?--jeanne (talk) 13:01, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
Go find him Jeanne and tell him to bring the party hats. :)Titch Tucker (talk) 13:09, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
All riiiiiiiiiight! And I'll take care of the music (I have pretty good taste in that department), while you can bring the booze, and Sarah can bring her camera and wit, so let's get the show on the road!--jeanne (talk) 13:16, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
I'll have to bring Pepsi. GoodDay (talk) 16:54, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
Hey, Pepsi's fine, we can have a party without booze. I can't type with too much booze anyway, can't control my fingers. Titch Tucker (talk) 16:57, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
Uh oh I'd better keep away from you then Titch. Let your fingers do the walking......--jeanne (talk) 17:01, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
My fingers arn't that long. Titch Tucker (talk) 17:03, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
Why, are you Tony Manero?--jeanne (talk) 17:07, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
The name Tich gives it away, it's been my nickname since I was a kid. I've grown a bit since then, I'm now a whole 5ft8in. Titch Tucker (talk) 17:10, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
I'm 5'8 as well, Titch. Still haven't answered my question though, Are you Tony Manero?--jeanne (talk) 17:12, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
I'm not Tony Manero, but I'm 6ft in height & have very long fingers. GoodDay (talk) 17:32, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
Are you a priest as well? Long fingers can be useful when giving benedictions.--jeanne (talk) 17:34, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
I aint no priest. PS: Robert Hays's portrayal of Manero, was a better dancer then Travolta's version. GoodDay (talk) 18:02, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

You've been quiet of late

There hasn't been a peep out of you for a wee bit. Hope you didn't twist an ankle doing a Tony Manero in your white flared-trouser suit--jeanne (talk) 12:25, 7 January 2009 (UTC)!
I never had any white suits, the beer stains would show up too easily. Those were the days, a wardrobe full of natty suits and a weekend to look forward to. Nowadays I have two suits in the wardrobe, one for funerals and one for weddings. Where has my youth gone? I want it back now! Titch Tucker (talk) 13:30, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

Anybody ever see that annoying comercial, where the kid messes her mother's white pants. The narator keeps repeating via song "put a smile on your face". GoodDay (talk) 16:54, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

I don't remember that one GD, but I do know if I did that to my mothers white pants (we call them trousers) when I was a kid she wouldn't be smiling. I'd be smiling on the other side of my face, as they use to say. :)(: Titch Tucker (talk) 17:12, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
Yikes. GoodDay (talk) 17:33, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
Nah, it wasn't as bad as it sounds, it was just an old Glasgow saying. Her bark was worse than her bite. Titch Tucker (talk) 17:37, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
I remember listening to Bowie singing Changes back in 1974, and when he sang that line about getting older, I never imagined it actually happening to me. In the insouciant arrogance of youth, I thought I'd remain an eternal teenager Sigh......Speaking of funerals, Titch, I attended one today. You must be psychic--jeanne (talk) 17:48, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
I sometimes think age is all in the mind, well, not all, but you know what I mean. When I was a kid we had a neighbour who took every oppurtunity to tell people how elderly she was. She was sixty, ten years older than I am now. Blimey, If I start coming out with that patter you have permission to shoot me. Titch Tucker (talk) 18:16, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
'taint nothing wrong with getting older. It's a way to proove, one's still alive. GoodDay (talk) 18:19, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
Good point GD. Its better than not getting older. Titch Tucker (talk) 18:30, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
It would be far better (at least from a woman's POV) to be getting YOUNGER-look out you rock and rollers, time may change me, but I can't trace time--jeanne (talk) 18:33, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

Paul Wilson

I would have said the Kerrydale Street wiki is more likely to be correct as it reads like a player interview. The problem is that it is not a reliable source in itself, and there are no references given on that wiki. What it states more or less ties in with the facts we do know. He must have had a British and/or Irish father to have that surname, and moving back to Scotland at a very young age sort of ties in with sources that say he was born in a district of Glasgow. It maybe worthwhile asking on their forum, [2]. You may get someone there who actually knows his background, or even the author.

Another (more reliable) source says he was born in Milngavie. Jmorrison230582 (talk) 20:49, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
I already had the information and source on his place of birth, it was his racial mix that was puzzling me. I remember at the time everyone assumed he was half Indian, but as you say, the Kerrydalestreet website reads like an interview. I may take your advice and ask at the forum. Cheers. Sarah

Sarah has not made an appearance for quite a while. I suppose she's still having computer problems.--jeanne (talk) 09:57, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
I think she's still around, Jeanne. She was certainly still working on her articles last night. Titch Tucker (talk) 10:15, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
Oh, I hadn' seen any of her comments recently, so thought she still had computer probs.--jeanne (talk) 10:37, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
It sounds as though you haven't enabled your navigation popups, Jeanne. If you go to your preferences, choose Gadgets and tick the nav popups you can hover over peoples signatures, choose contributions and see which articles they have been working on. If you have already done so, just ignore me. Titch Tucker (talk) 10:42, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
God, I don't want her to think Im a spy for the KGB!--jeanne (talk) 10:47, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
No one will know, honest. I go around spying on lots of people. You were working on 1960's in fashion before you came here. See, I was even spying on you. This message will destruct in 30 seconds. :) Titch Tucker (talk) 10:54, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
OK wise guy, if you know so much about me, can you recognise me in any of the photos on 1960s in fashion? LOL--jeanne (talk) 11:01, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
Come on! Give me a harder question. You were sitting at the front of the family photo and giving the V for victory sign further down. Those 60's photo's, I think every family picture from those day's were all the same. I reckon there was only one clothes shop chain in the 60's. Titch Tucker (talk) 11:10, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

Granny Takes a Trip

Hey Titch, that's the peace sign I'm giving. Man, wasn't I cool? Remember that pic was taken right in the middle of the Easy Rider era. Oh, you've overlooked the photo of me in the white go-go boots. Outasight. In the 1970s, I used to get a lot of my clothes from this shop Granny Takes a Trip in Hollywood.--jeanne (talk) 12:32, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
My mind is mush, of course its the peace sign! If you look at old pictures of Churchill during the war you will see him using his two fingers the other way round. Today it would mean "up yours". I don't think that was his intention. Hmmm, or was it! I'm a bit worried about you going to a shop called Granny Takes a Trip. Where you into the retro style even then? I can picture you wearing Victorian clothes trying to look cool. Titch Tucker (talk) 12:54, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
Check out the article Granny Takes a Trip. It sold British-imported glam rock-style clothes. Lamé and glittery gear. Don't you recognise me in the image gallery? I'm wearing a red dress.--jeanne (talk) 12:59, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
Yep, spotted you, looking good! Is that your daughter's photograph next to you? Titch Tucker (talk) 13:03, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
Yes, she's wearing my top (which I'm wearing in the photo on my user page). It's too tight now LOL--jeanne (talk) 13:05, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
Two peas in a pod. I don't mean you in the dress, just kidding. *Gulp* Titch Tucker (talk) 13:09, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
Along with the top, I've still got that dress hanging up in my wardrobe.--jeanne (talk) 13:20, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
Your all ready for a night out on the town. Titch Tucker (talk) 13:22, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
Or the David Bowie 1974 Diamond Dogs concert at the Universal Amphitheatre-wow! Ah for a time machine, eh Titch?--jeanne (talk) 13:29, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
My sister in the late 70's was recording a song in a London studio when she bumped into David Bowie. They only had a short chat, but she seemd to think he was an ok guy. Titch Tucker (talk) 13:48, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
Now, let's see. What has, Jeanne been up to "Presses buttons, activates cia spyware, sattelite in place" Nope, she's as quiet as a church mouse. ;) Titch Tucker (talk) 13:56, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
Oh wouldn't I love to be a church mouse, to be able to catch all those randy priests in action! BTW, what is your code name, Titch? Bruce? Rod the Mod? Braveheart? Rob Roy? Will Wallace? Bay City Roller? All spies must have code names.--jeanne (talk) 14:27, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
If you ever here the name "The Black Douglas" you'll know it's me. I always do my work at night time. Heheheh. Titch Tucker (talk) 14:32, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
Are you related to the Black Douglas clan? Have you got the tartan?--jeanne (talk) 14:45, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
The Black Douglas is not a relation of mine. The first Scottish history book I read was on him though. My tartan is the Macbeth tartan, so don't believe the rubbish William Shakespeare wrote about him. It was like one of those films that say "this film was based on a true story" then they use their artistic freedom to lose all the facts. Titch Tucker (talk) 16:20, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
Well, Richard III was no hunchback either!--jeanne (talk) 18:30, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
Why does this keep coming out in a Glaswegian accent?--jeanne (talk) 18:33, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

Gone to the pub. Mmmm, Guinness!

Mmm, gone to the moon. Space cowboys! Yippee Yie Aye, ghost riders in the sky!!!--jeanne (talk) 18:37, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
Back from the pub,, Mmmm, lovely, Haggis supper! Titch Tucker (talk) 00:39, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
Speaking of the moon, there's a lovely glowing photo on Sarah's talk page. Makes me wish I were an astronaut.--jeanne (talk) 06:25, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
OK, James Bond, tell me what I did at Wikipedia today.--jeanne (talk) 13:38, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
Big brother is watching you, Jeanne. I'm not really that nosy, but you would probably be surprised at the number of editors, usually with the same interests as you, who are checking out which articles you are working on. Titch Tucker (talk) 21:02, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
Big Brother (Big Sister?) is indeed watching me. Reminds me of that Black Sabbath song Paranoid. Only joking, I don't mind if editors watch my articles. I watch theirs hee hee hee.--jeanne (talk) 06:12, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
