I reverted the New Jersey clarification info because it doesn't need to be on the list. It says in the intro to the list that it does not reflect changes since 2005. If we make that note on NJ, we have to note all the countries that aren't included. While that would make a legitimate and useful list, adding all that to the current list would make it messy. I will try to make a separate list of unions not in Schedule 20. -Rrius (talk) 05:58, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

I'm working on the list now. (Btw, according to my dictionary, "sic" is wrong. It didn't apply to any quoted material and the Schedule isn't wrong, it's just outdated. It is a list of what the Act recognizes as similar to a CP. Until they put through a new Statutory Instrument, there are more hoops for NJ civil unions than for NJ domestic partnerships.)-Rrius (talk) 06:19, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
The UK has what are called statutory instruments, which in this case requires that the government put the changes before Parliament. Either house can reject the statutory instrument within 40 days, but if the 40 days pass without it being rejected, it becomes law. In practice, I'm sure the Home Secretary (or whoever) is aware of the New Jersey, New Hampshire, and other civil unions and treats them more or less like unions on the Schedule 20 list. -Rrius (talk) 07:05, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

OK, I'm not going to revert you again on the links you removed from the above article, but I would like to know how the following violate NPOV:

Domestic partnership in the United States
LGBT movements in the United States
Full Faith and Credit
Sodomy – The cases dealing with sodomy laws are important milestones the debate on gay rights and the topic is relevant to the article.

I can see excluding the California articles because there is no reason to include just one state, but how are those POV? -Rrius (talk) 08:21, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Same-sex unions in the United States

Cooljuno had a good point about creating a single page that summarizes the various unions available in the US. I have started one on one of my sandboxes, and I would like your input. I copied the text of Civil union in the United States, which itself needs a lot of work, and added a new lead and blurbs about same-sex marriage and civil unions from Same-sex marriage in the United States and Civil union, respectively. I still need to do the intro for domestic partnerships (which I think will be the hardest part), and I am thinking of doing a section on federal law, rather than dealing with under each section separately. Please help in whatever way you have time for, even if it is just copy-editing. -Rrius (talk) 21:28, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

Seaboard Air Line Railroad

Updated DYK query On 31 May, 2008, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Seaboard Air Line Railroad, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Re: Thanks

It is supposed to stay for 6 hours. If you've seen any DYK entry staying for days, you probably have witnessed the worst backlog disaster of all. --BorgQueen (talk) 18:56, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

New Jersey and Canada

You removed California and Canada from the list of jurisdictions with relationships recognized as civil unions under New Jersey law from the Recognition of same-sex unions in New Jersey. Is the Canada edit correct? As Canadian same-sex marriage predates New Jersey civil unions, this would be somewhat surprising. Feel free to reply here, I put your talk page on my watchlist-Rrius (talk) 07:06, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

That's basically what I figured, but I wasn't sure because I've never looked into whether the AG opinion or whether there are updates or whatnot. -Rrius (talk) 01:00, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Margarita de Castro e Souza

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Margarita de Castro e Souza, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

sole claim to notability is genealogical, which does not qualify

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. bonjour de France i hope it's the right place to write to you. Thank you for the FW&D ; i have done the modifications. I added a lot of new articles about US Class I Railroad; so, if you see something is not correct in my translations, tell it to me; je vous remercie d'avance. Marsou_83

P&A Railroad

I've had a look at the P&A Railroad article as requested and have made some formatting and copy edits. Are you sure about the land grant areas? That's an enormous amount of land to just give away in return for the building of a railway. The original grant would be about 9% of the area of the state today. I known sizes are relative and it was a sparsely populated region at the time, but that would be like handing over most of the south of the England for free. Were there any commitments that the railway had to fulfil to get the land?

Are there any records of how much it cost to build the P&A or how many people worked on the construction or the types of locomotives or coaches used in the early days?--DavidCane (talk) 01:06, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

Taming the convert template can be a black art. Sometimes I doubt whether an understanding of this black art is always a good thing, but I do what I can. Thanks for the feedback and great article, btw. Bleakcomb (talk) 00:07, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

Note

Hmm, you don't have email enabled, too bad... Thanks for your efforts to defuse the situation at Lower Mainland. I fear we may have lost an immensely valuable editor who has some undeniable rough spots about him. If that's the eventual outcome, then whatever the outcome for a few words in an article, it will have been an epic fail. Oh well, another day at English Wikipedia... Franamax (talk) 00:07, 17 September 2010 (UTC)

Your query

I tend to agree with the latest reversion: it is better not to gratuitously include foreign words in English articles, especially if there is no scholarly need to include them, their meaning is unclear to the English reader, and, as in this case, the context is a sensitive one and the inclusion is likely to provoke controversy.

Hope this helps.

Unhelpful comments at reference desk

You have been leaving unhelpful comments, bordering on trolling and disruption, following the meme "This discussion is very XXXX-centric" like "This discussion is very Earth-centric" and stuff like that. If you don't have anything helpful to add to a reference desk discussion, please don't. Your comments cannot even be taken as serious objections to the discussion, given the pattent rediculousness of them. Please stop doing this. --Jayron32 02:44, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

Hi, Textorus... In September 2010 you removed some material you had reservations about from the Alfred, Hereditary Prince of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha article. I think it's accurate and useful information and have now rephrased and re-cited. Would you look over the diff and see if your concerns have been adequately addressed? - Nunh-huh 22:24, 14 February 2011 (UTC)

Mind weighing in?

Textorus, I've seen you at LGBT-related articles, and want to know if you wouldn't mind weighing in on this: Talk:Heterosexualization#Not only an LGBT issue. I posted a message about it at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject LGBT studies, which you may have seen already, but I hardly get any help from there or from other WikiProjects these days. So part of my approach these days is to go to relevant editors individually and hope they weigh in. Flyer22 (talk) 18:34, 13 April 2011 (UTC)

I replied on my talk page. Flyer22 (talk) 00:22, 14 April 2011 (UTC)
I replied again. Though I probably don't need to tell you this, as I'm sure you're experienced enough to know to check back or to have put my talk page on your watchlist for this discussion only. I want to thank you for taking the time to explain your feelings, though. I do appreciate that. Flyer22 (talk) 05:05, 14 April 2011 (UTC)
