I moved your comment at Talk:Atom from the top of the page to the bottom of the page, which is where new comments normally go. Yes, many Wikipedians have conversations where each writes on the others' talk page. (Others prefer to keep the entire conversation on the same talk page.) The Atom article is presently "semi-protected", so a newly registered user ("newly" means first 4 days) wouldn't see the "edit this page" tab (there would be a "view source" tab instead, that doesn't allow editing.) I thought I looked for semi-protection last time I wrote, but I can't prove it now. Wikipedia:Help desk is a good place to ask basic questions about how to edit.
