Speedy deletion nomination of हटकर[edit]

Hello SumeetLokhande,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged हटकर for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks, Lgcsmasamiya (talk) 16:28, 26 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

File permission problem with File:Hatkar person (shepherd of Maharshtra).jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Hatkar person (shepherd of Maharshtra).jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Dianna (talk) 00:18, 11 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Reverted your edits at Hatkar[edit]

Hello, you did not provide any reason for reverting the cleanup I did at Hatkar, so I've reverted your edits. Why did you undo the cleanup I spent time on? You've added a lot of content to the article, but a lot of that content needs a lot of work to be cleaned-up and properly sourced. MatthewVanitas (talk) 14:30, 24 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Can you re-do the Hatkar flag?[edit]

Hello Sumeet, I saw you created an image at File:Flag Of Hatkar Community.png. Great initiative, but it's really unneeded to make it a big white box with a bunch of text around explaining it, and not really proper to write your own name as credit in the image itself. All that information (creator, sources used, etc) can be put into the actual description for the image, so there's no need to clutter up the picture. Note, in contrast, the file File:Flag of Indore.svg, also used in the Hatkar article: a nice simple piece of colour, no need to clutter up the actual image. If you can make an upgraded version of just the flag itself and upload it to Wikimedia Commons, that would be a great improvement. In the "Comments" section of the image file, please give a very specific cite as to from what book/journal you got the proper description of the flag. MatthewVanitas (talk) 20:41, 24 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Again, you're making unexplained changes and undoing my cleanup[edit]

Sumeet, again, I made a series of edits to clean up the page, including fixing mis-quotes, wrong citations, adding data that was left out (like the "obstinate" probably being a fictional etymology), and then you come back along again and undo everything I've done, without any explanation whatsoever. As mentioned above, please use the WP:Edit summary line every time you save an edit so we can understand why you made a change. If you look at the History tab, you can see my explanation for every edit.

If you keep making unexplained changes and not communicating with other editors about why you think certain changes need to be made, then you won't be allowed to edit Hatkar in the future. Please take a moment and go to Talk:Hatkar and share with us specifically how you would like to see the article further developed and improved so we can work together on this. MatthewVanitas (talk) 17:23, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Summeet, in reply to your question: some of the citations you had appeared to be wrong, like citing the Ain-i-Akbari when you were actually directly quoting Siraj-ul-hassan's description of a part of the Ain-i-Akbari. You also used several books that are not good sources: it's best to never use anything by Gyan Publishing since they are a notorious plagiariser and generally untrustworthy company. The book Martial Races of Undivided India is especially infamous as being largely an uncredited rip-off of Wikipedia itself, and massive amounts of caste-puffery. Also many, many, Wikipedia discussions have concluded that Joshua Project is not an authoritative source, so cannot be cited.
The there's the ===Gavli Hatkar=== section, which you took word-for-word from "Castes and Tribes", which raises copyright issues (in all but very old books), or is at least awkward because the phrasing isn't the kind used on Wiki, and the information is missing details we need and providing details we don't. Also, you spent a lot of space discussing Bargi (which has its own article), and Maratha (which has its own article), including adding a picture of a generic Maratha who doesn't appear to be specifically a Hatkar.
Overall, I had very specific reasons for each edit I made, and if you check the History tab of the article you'll see my line-by-line explanation for my changes. MatthewVanitas (talk) 14:15, 26 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on हाटकर, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a foreign language article that was copied and pasted from another Wikimedia project, or was transwikied out to another project. Please see Wikipedia:Translation to learn about requests for, and coordination of, translations from foreign-language Wikipedias into English.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. —SpacemanSpiff 07:55, 29 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on पांढरे घराणे requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://hatkarresearchboardindia.blogspot.in/2015/09/blog-post_6.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Proposed deletion of List of Hatkar clans[edit]

The article List of Hatkar clans has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable topic. After removal of unsourced content there is no actual "list of clans". The 7 references (5 of which are non-RS) are about titles or surnames found in Hatkar community.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. utcursch | talk 20:20, 23 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
