Speedy deletion nomination of Walama[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Walama requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Calabe1992 (talk) 02:38, 16 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

new Libya map[edit]

Hi,

I wonder about the accuracy of File:2011 Libyan Civil War.png. Are the outskirts of Sabha really controlled by the rebels? I only heard that there had been demonstrations in town. Is there really a sharp line down the middle of the desert, with Gaddafi controlling one side and the rebels the other, which just happens to coincide with the provincial boundary? I suspect that this portrayal is inaccurate. — kwami (talk) 05:35, 17 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Okay. I think it's a bit misleading to include it with the other maps, then, since they're as precise as possible given our sources. Certainly I would read it to mean that Sabha is surrounded by rebel forces which are in turn surrounded by loyalists, and also that there is a clearly demarcated front line in the south. I imagine that in much of the south of the country it would be meaningless to assign either color, since no-one lives there. — kwami (talk) 13:33, 17 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism on Southern Sudan[edit]

Do not remove large sections of the article please. --Phil Ian Manning (talk) 12:39, 27 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe that was a little harsh and I'm assuming it was by mistake. My apologies.--Phil Ian Manning (talk) 13:04, 27 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I was working on Foreign relations of South Sudan, and than I just got angry and copied it, I was working on the section, a conflict came up, and then I just pasted. Kind of my mistake.--Spesh531, My talk, and External links 21:33, 27 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No hard feelings, btw thanks for the maps. I'm assuming it wasn't you with the Belgium and Netherlands opposing independence thing? I just noticed two of the sources for "Countries opposing the independence" namely those for Iran and Libya are pre-referendum and of questionable value as neither state that they won't recognise South Sudan. Your thoughts in regard to these? --Phil Ian Manning (talk) 14:21, 28 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The edits were to fast for it to be me reverting my "own" edits, if they were my edits. Originally, that person had a source, even though it aid Netherlands to support independence of South Sudan, and I do not know where Belgium came in. -- Spesh531, My talk, and External links 02:22, 29 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

South Sudan map[edit]

I was wondering if you would reupload the globe you uploaded to File:LocationSouthernSudan.svg to the title File:Southern Sudan (orthographic projection).svg. This would keep the naming in line with the other orthographic maps, and allow the original picture of the Location series map to be present. Cheers, Chipmunkdavis (talk) 15:49, 8 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Clarification on a vital article[edit]

As a participant at WP:1.0, I was wondering if you might confirm something for me. Is Republic of China a level 3 vital article? I ask because another editor on Talk:China has asserted that it is not a vital article because it is not listed at WP:VITAL. Could you clarify this for us? Thanks and best regards, Nightw 08:38, 17 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I say it is a vital artical for level 3. ––Spesh531, My talk, and External links 18:33, 24 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Cherry Lane School[edit]

The article Cherry Lane School has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This school does not meet notability requirements, specifically this section on schools quoted from the notability guidelines on organizations that states: "Organizations whose activities are local in scope (e.g., a school or club) can be considered be notable if there is substantial verifiable evidence of coverage by reliable independent sources outside the organization's local area. Where coverage is only local in scope, consider adding a section on the organization to an article on the organization's local area instead."

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Another two minor comments on your map[edit]

I notice at the Egyptian-Sudanese border there's four pixels with the color of "Boundaries of states with limited recognition from their parent country" whereas it should be the color of simple "Disputed boundaries," no? In addition shouldn't the West Sahara territory be colored in the former color rather than the latter? --Mrdie (talk) 10:15, 16 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Oh yeah, I have not figured a color for areas that niether country want. And I do not get what you are saying about Western Sahara.–Spesh531, My talk, and External links 12:26, 16 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

West Sahara is contested between Morocco and the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic. It appears that in West Sahara the borders are colored those of a border dispute rather than more accurately those of "Boundaries of states with limited recognition from their parent country." Basically the straight line should be the same color as Abkhazia and such while the line within West Sahara dividing Moroccan and SADR territory should be the same color as those for border disputes. --Mrdie (talk) 08:21, 17 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic does not administer western Western Sahara, that is why the colors are like that.–Spesh531, My talk, and External links 14:50, 17 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
