The Saint Hilarion Castle (Turkish: Saint Hilarion Kalesi Greek: Κάστρο του Αγίου Ιλαρίωνα) lies on the Kyrenia mountain range, (Greek: Κερύνεια βουνά Turkish: Girne Dağları) in Cyprus (Turkish: Kıbrıs Greek: Κύπρος) near Kyrenia (Greek: Κερύνεια Turkish: Girne). This location provided the castle with command of the pass road from Kyrenia to Nicosia (Turkish: Lefkoşa Greek: Λευκωσία). It is the best preserved ruin of the three former strongholds in the Kyrenia mountains, the others being Kantara (Greek: Κάστρο της Καντάρας Turkish: Kantara Kalesi) and Buffavento (Turkish: Buffavento Kalesi Greek: Kάστρο Βουφαβέντο).
