MRT maps

Hi Selo, I noticed you have helped to change the DT lines from brown to blue, thanks! But I think you missed out the File:MRT-LRT map.svg. :) 218.186.16.236 (talk) 02:33, 8 October 2011 (UTC)

MRT Stations

Hi! I see that you have contributed to the MRT Station articles in the past. If you are free, could you please assist me in the housekeeping of all the related articles to a standardized layout? I'm basing it of the Hong Kong MTR Station articles which are rather nicely formatted. Promenade MRT Station is one the articles with the new format. Please feel free to comment. - Rgds. Planenut(Talk) 14:38, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

Looks like the Choa Chu Kang MRT/LRT Station article might become a WP:3RR hot bed. Are all the contributing editors, members from the same train forum? They seem like kids to me. - Rgds. Planenut(Talk) 17:35, 6 January 2012 (UTC)
When the MRT network commenced operations in 1987, Station name as with all above-ground stations had no physical barriers between the platforms and tracks. Following numerous incidents of commuters falling on the tracks, the Land Transport Authority made the decision in 2008 to install half height platform screen doors for all above-ground stations in phases. Installation commenced in 2009 and will finish in 2012. Something like that. - Rgds. Planenut(Talk) 06:03, 7 January 2012 (UTC)

Hi Selo, noticed that you had uploaded the MRT lines according to Land Transport's Master Plan 2013.. Would like to thank for the changes you had made, as well as the accuracy of the mrt lines.

I would suggest categorizing this file so that it may be associated with other related files and also improve search results. {{subst:Please link images|File:SGMRT-LRT-Future map.svg}} (talk) 10:43, 16 January 2014 (UTC)

Updating MRT maps

I had agreed that the Thomson line (TSL) and the Eastern Region line (ERL) have been merged to form the Thomson–East Coast line (TEL). Please update the map for interchange stations at Woodlands, Caldecott, Stevens, Orchard, Outram Park and Marina Bay MRT stations. Please change the TS to TE. Thank you.

GoAheadFan95 (talk) 11:46, 8 January 2020 (UTC)

@GoAheadFan95 Hello, yes, the pages were merged during my hiatus and I do not dispute the change on that. May I know is there anything wrong with the maps you have mentioned except the TS not being changed to TE? Otherwise, you too can request for the pages to be moved on Wiki commons. Seloloving (talk) 12:23, 8 January 2020 (UTC)
@Seloloving They are NSCCTS on Marina Bay MRT station, EWNETS on Outram Park MRT station, NSTS on Woodlands and Orchard MRT stations, CCTS on Caldecott MRT station and DTTS on Stevens MRT station. GoAheadFan95 (talk) 13:02, 8 January 2020 (UTC)
I understand. The maps themselves do not require updating. You will need to request for a Move on Wikicommons. Seloloving (talk) 13:09, 8 January 2020 (UTC)

Merging the table rows

Dear Seloloving,

As seen in the page, List of Singapore LRT stations, all 14 Bukit Panjang LRT line stations were opened on 6 November 1999, Sengkang, Compassvale, Rumbia, Bakau, Kangkar and Ranggung were opened on 18 January 2003, Thanggam, Fernvale, Layar, Tongkang and Renjong on the West Loop of Sengkang LRT line and Punggol, Cove, Meridian, Coral Edge, Riviera and Kadaloor were opened on 29 January 2005 while Nibong, Sumang and Soo Teck stations were opened on 29 June 2014. Can merge the table rows please? Thank you.

GoAheadFan95 (talk) 11:57, 15 January 2020 (UTC)

That has been done. Just add rowspan=14|--ZKang123 (talk) 08:54, 21 January 2020 (UTC)
@GoAheadFan95 Apologies, somehow I missed the initial notitification. Thanks @ZKang123. Seloloving (talk) 14:34, 21 January 2020 (UTC)

Also doing for the MRT lines; that was pretty tedious. I will also do something with the N/A sections. We shall probably really consider separating the table by lines.--ZKang123 (talk) 10:41, 22 January 2020 (UTC)

New draft for NSL

Hello. I have been working on a new version of the NSL page and I will like some feedback. Every opinion is important and I do not wish to make further big edits without knowing the thoughts of my fellow editors. Thank you.--ZKang123 (talk) 04:36, 31 January 2020 (UTC)

@ZKang123 Thank you for the effort. Some points to note:
1. It is the first MRT line to be built in Singapore.
2. To standardize the page, it should be decide if the station name should be followed by the word "station" in all cases.
3. The use of abbreviations should be standardized on when to use it and added into the infobox on the rewrite of all the pages, as our MRT Wikipedia pages have a very passionate following from the younger generation, who unfortunately don't always follow established standards.
4. Bishan tunnel flooding should not be just below the incident's subtitle, as it doesn't represent every incident listed.
That's all for now, I will try to look at it again if I have more time. Seloloving (talk) 05:18, 31 January 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for the reply. If you have any further suggestions/improvements, do so on the talk page so that other editors can read it as well. Thank you!
On a side note, I am not sure if it is appropriate to keep using 'NSL' for the rest of the article. Though yeah NSL has already been clearly defined at the start.--ZKang123 (talk) 01:40, 2 February 2020 (UTC)

Hi Seloloving,

I came across your discussion with @JoKalliauer: on Wikipedia:SVG_help#Copyright. I would hate to see your excellent work deleted due to copyright issues. You wrote that you would "seek Wikicommons for advice". If the decision is to delete, I'd like to help save them by replacing copyrighted parts with allowable ones. Singapore's outline

Hey Seloloving, I'm in the midst of revamping the main Singapore article, and I was wondering if you'd be willing to update Singapore's outline in this map, bringing it in line with the outline found in your updated MRT maps, like this one. You're the original author, and you're also well-versed with Inkscape, so I thought I'd ask :)

If you do decide to go ahead with updating the outline, I thought you might want to consider:

1) Updating the outline of the rectangular part of the port directly adjacent to Pasir Panjang MRT station, as reclamation works were completed a while back, and the gap between the mainland and the reclaimed portion that is visible in the CRL map has since been filled in;

2) Filling in the northern portion of Tekong since empoldering works at Tekong Kechil are currently in full swing;

3) and including an inset with Pedra Branca to depict the full extent of Singapore's territory.

Cheers, Tiger7253 (talk) 13:42, 24 February 2020 (UTC)

Hi, I will look into it. I stopped updating that map as it was removed from the page. I am however, unable to find the reclamation near Pasir Panjang, based on satellite imagery. Points 2 and 3 are noted, I will see what I can do when I have time. Speaking of which, the Singapore page is seriously a disaster now. I have no idea how has the lead exploded into 5 full paragraphs. Seloloving (talk) 16:57, 24 February 2020 (UTC)
Hey Seloloving, apologies for the delayed response. The main Singapore article is currently undergoing a rather heavy metamorphosis, spearheaded by me and a couple of other Wikipedians. I'd encourage you to check out the discussions in the talk page and join in - the more, the merrier. The previous lead was quite lacking in a lot of historical information and was fairly ahistorical and overly abrupt in parts, and while the new lead is longer, we have done our best to summarise and shorten it wherever possible. The infobox and the etymology section have also been put through a series of refinements; the rest of the article will be brought up to standard whenever the rest of us have time.
Where Pasir Panjang is concerned, I am referring to the coordinates 1.268769, 103.791200. This part of the port is depicted as unreclaimed land in your svg map outline, but it has since been fully reclaimed.
Cheers, Tiger7253 (talk) 02:24, 19 March 2020 (UTC)
@Tiger7253 I will look into it as my life stabilizes down from the craze which was COVID 19. Apologies for the late reply. Seloloving (talk) 14:19, 2 June 2020 (UTC)

This is a separate request, but since there is the above request... Is it possible to create a map of Singapore with the new outline based on the updated Master Plan, similar to c:File:Singapore MP2008. Urban Planning Areas.svg? :D From the updated map, we can work on derivations to update other variations being used through the various wikipedia sites.– robertsky (talk) 15:15, 23 June 2020 (UTC)

Hello, would you be referring to this map? I can only see the geographical divisions though. The latest map with the new outline can be found here, though it will be updated frequently as things progress on the ground. Seloloving (talk) 15:40, 23 June 2020 (UTC)

GE2020 independent candidate on map suggestions

Hi there,

I just have a feeling that independent candidates may contest or if there is a walkover, but for the map, I would like a white for independent and (if unlikely) remain at grey for walkovers. Feel free to edit as new news comes. Sculture65 (talk) 05:10, 25 June 2020 (UTC)

Hmm, so far only Nee Soon GRC remains unopposed. As for independents, this Ooi Boon Ewe fella has a history of dropping out at the last minute over the most ludicrous reasons, I will make a note of it and add him in if he's still around after nomination day. Thanks for the note! Seloloving (talk) 09:46, 25 June 2020 (UTC)

Suggestion for CCL, DTL and TEL maps

Hello there. I thought of suggesting to add the stages/phases of each of the lines construction on their individual lines map. Your line maps look good, hope to see further updates and improvements!--ZKang123 (talk) 00:23, 18 July 2020 (UTC)

Hmm...I will think how to present it unobtrusively while maintaining that the CCL and DTL is fully opened. Seloloving (talk) 01:27, 18 July 2020 (UTC)

Republic of Singapore Air Force Wiki page

Hi there. I made some Minor revisions on the Republic of Singapore Air Force Wiki page on 31st July 2020 as it was not accurate, But you revised and have reverted back to the earlier version. Based on Sipri as well as first hand information, the numbers for the Fokker F-50 ( Transport and ME-2 ) as well as the Helicopters (Super Pumas, Cougars and Chinook 47SD ) are not accurate. The one I have indicated today are the right numbers. Also I have added some other information which are verified facts. Thank you and best regards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Damien Krishnan (talkcontribs) 09:33, 1 August 2020 (UTC)

Issues on my edits that u are not sastified with

Hi I have just added another version of the edit to marsiling yew Tee grc. It is relly doesn't make sense still to me after putting original back so I have change another way of writing to avoid further edits for that part so please do not remove. Thanks! And also does it matter if 1 were to use in present days or any other words or phrase??? What's your issue with that may I know? I just dont understand that how come jurong grc I put parlimentary Secretary Rahayu mahzam on lead I nvr add source u nvr criticise but for marine parade grc u criticise I just dont understand! Can u reply to this issue? And for marine parade how u want me downsize the appointments of the person when is stated on Straits times or any other news article their full post??? Pls ans to this as well, thanks! Pls dont get me wrong that if u tink I may feel harsh here but I hope u can understand my stand on this as everything u have to criticise on! Is there a need at all, really? Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bringyouaway (talkcontribs) 16:36, 11 October 2020 (UTC)

Hello @Bringyouaway:, attempting to decipher your paragraph above is indicative that you still lack sufficient command in English to edit in a proficient manner. Nevertheless, I do not want you banned at all - it's not my desire.
It's entirely correct to say "Example GRC is led by Person 1, and Person 2." It's wrong to say "Example GRC leads", because you are implying that the GRC, a non-living entity, is leading the person instead. The word "led" is the past tense of "lead", and it can be used in the plural sense unlike the word "lead".
In addition, as I have previously pointed out, "in present days" is an incoherent sentence structure. It should be "in the present day, Example GRC is led by". In any case, the word "currently" should suffice for "in the present day".
For appointments, Wikipedia's policy is that it's sufficient to list the name alone. Nevertheless, should it should be necessary to list an appointment, it should have direct bearing on the page. For example, Queen Elizabeth's full title is "Elizabeth II, by the Grace of God, of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and of her other realms and territories Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith". She's also the leader of the Church of England, but most pages refer to her only as "Queen Elizabeth", her highest rank. Adding all the appointments clutters up the content, when the page should be about the GRC and who leads it.
For Jurong GRC's page, you were specific in saying that Rahayu Mahzam assists Tharman as a head. However, for Marine Parade's page, you used the word "help". How are they helping Tan Chuan Jin? The paragraph also does not say Tan Chuan Jin is leading Marine Parade GRC as a head, so in what capacity are the two "helping"? While I could easily edit the page to amend the sentence and include the information, I am still concerned by the need to include all the appointments.
I am not trying to bully you or discourage you. I would like to take the opportunity to ping @Justanothersgwikieditor: as well, whom you have previously engaged with, to offer his input on how you can improve on your editing. Justanothersgwikieditor, please look at this notice I have placed on their talkpage. Seloloving (talk) 17:01, 11 October 2020 (UTC)
Let's keep the conversation here instead of 2 talkpages. Do ping me as I am not going to monitor the talkpage.
Using Marsiling–Yew Tee Group Representation Constituency as an example, Bringyouaway's first edit is grammatically wrong. The GRC is led by Lawrence Wong and Zaqy Mohamad is correct as they (the 2 politicians) are leading the GRC. Inclusion of Zaqy Mohamad being a teammate is redundant as it is already explicitly said the GRC is a 4 member GRC and leading a GRC together implicitly meant they are working together in a certain extent in a team already. Bringyouaway, you are asserting that your edit is final and should not be changed anymore here in your edit summary. Please read WP:OWN and not assert ownership and final editorial control on the article.
For Marine Parade Group Representation Constituency, as per Seloloving's edit summary, we can say the GRC is helmed/led by a cabinet Minister, until explicitly written with sources, as per above, they are working as a team. It does not mean once a politician is a Cabinet Minister, his constituency work is covered by the the rest of the GRC team. If his constituency work is covered by others, it need a source to confirm it. See Tanjong Pagar Group Representation Constituency, During the time Lee was then-Senior Minister, Koo Tsai Kee substituted Lee for his Meet-the-People Sessions (MPS), this is a known fact but sadly unsourced updated with source. Per wikipedia's policy, unsourced statements can be removed at anytime or simply tagged with citation needed so Seloloving is correct in what he is doing.
Bringyouaway, while we appreciate all contributions, we note that Wikipedia:Competence is required. As it is now, I agree with Seloloving your (ie Bringyouaway) English proficiency is not there yet. I like to emphasize that we are not bullying/discouraging you, as if is now, we are more than happy if you contribute in other ways but we think you can avoid doing copyediting (ie fixing grammer etc) for the time being. I tends to get other editors or let other editors to discover my grammer mistakes and fix it for me, as I acknowledge my written English is not there yet also. --Justanothersgwikieditor (talk) 02:08, 12 October 2020 (UTC)

Republic of Singapore Navy Comment

Hi, I noticed you reverted a revision I did on Republic of Singapore Navy and I do agree with you, however, not all of them had their first link in history. Some had the first link in the same sentence or section then duplicated in that same section (or a subsection). I just wanted to bring that to your attention as you go through the article.

Thanks, Bakertheacre Chat/What I Baked 20:19, 25 July 2020 (UTC)

@Bakertheacre I understand, I will do the necessary changes manually. My main problem stems from the fact that removing the links from the section of the ships would make the article extremely unbalanced from the point of view of a reader. The person would have to scroll all the way backup to get a link to the class they are interested in, which doesn't make sense. Please do also look at the RSN talkpage on the removal of the flags from the infobox too, I have pinged you there and would like to extend the courtesy of you reverting the edit specifically to the infobox yourself if you concur. Task Force for editing Movies in Singapore

I had interest in movies but not much in terms on local films in Singapore. However, there's clearly lots of proofing and maintenance as what I did on the past, such as Money not Enough and I Not Stupid, but need to extend to other films so that it will match the standards to the other films in Americas and other films. I will need help with a few editors because in terms I will be busy and on hiatus. Let me know. And happy CNY in advance. Sculture65 (talk) 08:00, 28 January 2021 (UTC)

Apologies, but how intensive do you forsee the job to be? It would include writing plot summaries, tidying the lead and reception, stuff like that? I am not sure how much I can contribute as I rarely watch movies myself. Seloloving (talk) 11:42, 4 February 2021 (UTC)
I see. I guess looking for someone else better. Thanks. Sculture65 (talk) 14:55, 8 February 2021 (UTC)

No worries. I try what i can do, but i cannot guarantee due to a busy schedule. Just to know, many of the plots written for Singapore films are not under the standards. Sculture65 (talk) 15:20, 8 February 2021 (UTC)

Edits regarding radio stations

Hi there, apparently radio stations by SPH have been redirected because of lack of independent and verifiable content. Is there any idea how to resolve this so that at least the radio stations can be there? Thanks. TheGreatSG'rean (talk) 17:47, 2 April 2021 (UTC)

@TheGreatSG'rean: Looking at some articles of radio stations, we will need to find sources preferably unrelated to SPH for those radio stations, seeing as the admin's reason for moving them seem to be about a lack of notability beyond simply existing. If we could find out their histories, it would help in the matter. Until then I am afraid they don't really meet the notability guideline like the admin stated and while I disagree with the move, it's still correct unfortunately. Seloloving (talk) 18:17, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
@Seloloving: Looks like it. I tried to ask the editor who made the second revert after I reverted. The editor told me to fix the article, then I asked if that applies to other media articles, the editor just brushed it off saying it's "irrelevant". That got me very pissed. You may check out the conversation I had with the second admin. I think we should make sure the Mediacorp channels (TV, radio, print, etc) and SAFRA Radio articles have enough sources so that they will not be reverted. Sometimes, I just think the admins are too far from the Singapore context. TheGreatSG'rean (talk) 18:20, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
@TheGreatSG'rean: Unfortunately, I have had my fair share of brushes with overzealous admins at some points in time (with justlettersandnumbers too), and I do agree there will always be an inherent Western bias on Wikipedia, though I do not think it was a factor in this matter. You might also need to cool down and revert your post on the admin's page after their request for you to not post there again, as it could lead to you being pulled to ANI.
I suggest that the community work to rescue the pages which still exist and back them with the relevant sources, rescuing the others when the time permits. You should also save the logos of the removed radio stations as even after removing the deletion notices, the bot will just add them back in. I will see what else I can do if I have the time. Seloloving (talk) 18:37, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
@Seloloving: Thanks for the reply. I have since reverted the edit to reflect the claims. Let me see how we should fix the articles, on my part, I will save the radio logos and replace a few since it's a few years, there's better images out there (especially for Kiss 92 and the likes). UPDATE: Apparently, I followed the recommendations, but my comments were restored. I won't be touching the feed at this point. TheGreatSG'rean (talk) 01:19, 3 April 2021 (UTC)
That's alright, it's their feed, let them do whatever they wish with it. I think it's perhaps because of justlettersandnumbers replying where you were also pinged that led to the revert. Nevertheless, let's just move on. Seloloving (talk) 08:17, 3 April 2021 (UTC)

CDGE

Hey there,

Just to let you know, I understand that you reverted my edits on the current unconfirmed info that Volvo B9TL CDGEs are being laid up. However, as shown in the photo provided in my later edit (which sadly reverted your edit), several CDGEs are seen laid up inside AMK Depot. Besides, Instagram user @cngambassador (who is a bus captain with Bukit Batok Depot) also partially confirmed this fact. However, if you feel that this is still not factual information, do feel free to revert again. Pls do also let me know by replying as well.

Thanks and regards :) AirFan19 (who sadly lost his password) 112.199.214.106 (talk) 08:39, 6 April 2021 (UTC)

PS: If the link to the photo is not working (thank you blacklist), do let me know :)

Hello IP 112.199.214.106. Wikipedia only accepts sources from reliable printed or online media. You need to provide a source from either LTA, the transport operators, or Straits Times/CNA/Today. Unfortunately, the polices of Wikipedia prohibits original research (ie checking on the buses yourself, or interviewing a bus captain.) SGTrains, SGBuses and other fan sites are also not regarded as reliable sources by the standards of Wikipedia. You must list a source either from the official agencies or news media articles to include the sentence. Please do let me know if you have further questions and I will be happy to assist. Seloloving (talk) 09:40, 6 April 2021 (UTC)

Do you own the article Singapore?

I cited sources but it seems like you own the article. If so, please let me know you own it. I thought owning articles was not allowed on Wikipedia... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 747pilot (talkcontribs) 02:59, 11 April 2021 (UTC)

Your source references Wikipedia as its source. It has nothing to do with ownership. It's just not a valid source. Please don't make unwarranted accusations.
In addition, I have reverted you precisely once so far, so I am not sure where your claim of me "owning" the article is coming from. Seloloving (talk) 03:03, 11 April 2021 (UTC)
Well this is Wikipedia after all. Articles often reference each other. So this means Wikipedia is just unreliable and that we may as well not edit then... 747pilot (talk) 03:15, 11 April 2021 (UTC)
747pilot please read Wikipedia:Reliable sources, especially WP:USERG where it says "Examples of unacceptable user-generated sites are Wikipedia, Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Instagram, Reddit, IMDb, Ancestry.com, Find a Grave, and ODMP." . We are not allowed to use sources from articles which reference Wikipedia. Only independent sources are allowed. You have been reverted three times by three different editors. Attempting to add the sentence back in would be edit warring. Seloloving (talk) 03:18, 11 April 2021 (UTC)
Expel means to deprive someone of membership, and this case Singapore was deprived of its membership in Malaysia, thus it was removed from Malaysia unwillingly. You know Singapore well, these are just the facts. 747pilot (talk) 03:28, 11 April 2021 (UTC)
It doesn't matter. As long as we don't have reliable third party sources to back it up, we can't include it. That's how Wikipedia works. Seloloving (talk) 03:29, 11 April 2021 (UTC)

Singapore gini score

Excuse me. The gini score of singapore is how much? I think it s a score of 46 which means the gini level is now high as of year 2020. Thanks. Cyberllamamusic (talk) 14:38, 14 April 2021 (UTC)

Hi Cyberllamamusic . Are you able to provide a source? The source on the CIA World Factbook still lists Singapore at 45.9 as of 2017. Seloloving (talk) 16:32, 14 April 2021 (UTC)

Country infobox flag glitch

Hi Seloloving, would you mind explaining what the glitch you refer to in [1] is, and how the edit fixes it? I'm unfamiliar with this and it sounds like an access issue. Thanks, CMD (talk) 01:07, 14 April 2021 (UTC)

Hello. @Chipmunkdavis: Several countries pages which use the previous format to list other names display a glitch where the flag is oversized in the mobile app. Here's a screenshot for example. The new format which I copied from Switzerland's page fixes the problem. Seloloving (talk) 01:16, 14 April 2021 (UTC)
Bizarre. Thanks for the info, that does seem a clear access issue. CMD (talk) 01:22, 14 April 2021 (UTC)
I am guessing it has something to do with the flag parameter taking the width of the text to cause it to extend across the entire screen, but it's odd that the bug only occurs on the mobile app and not desktop/mobile browsers, making it extremely troublesome to test for. Seloloving (talk) 16:41, 14 April 2021 (UTC)

Copyright

Excuse me, what do you mean by copyright violation?--Manwë986 (talk) 02:05, 1 May 2021 (UTC)

Hello Manwë986, you need to find a photo which is free of copyright - ie licensed under a creative commons license or under the public domain. Photos published by news agencies are usually copyrighted and cannot be uploaded on Wikimedia Commons or used on Wikipedia. Please read Commons:Licensing for more information. Seloloving (talk) 02:09, 1 May 2021 (UTC)

Like which public domain?--Manwë986 (talk) 02:13, 1 May 2021 (UTC)

Please read Commons:Licensing#Material_in_the_public_domain. Seloloving (talk) 02:17, 1 May 2021 (UTC)

Sorry, but I don't know the whole thing. It's hard to find one which is free of copyright. I couldn't tell at all. What about the image solely made by my own, like editing the original image? I think not, right?--Manwë986 (talk) 02:25, 1 May 2021 (UTC)

That would not be allowed too. You need to upload a photo you have taken yourself. Assume everything on the internet is copyrighted and cannot be used, if you are unable to tell.
In short, a public domain (PD) or creative commons (CC) work allows the material to be republished, edited freely (creating a derivative work), or used commercially (selling it). A photo by news agencies like Reuters, CNN, governments is copyrighted to these stakeholders, and cannot be used. Copyright means they do not allow you to use their images without you paying them a fee for it. If there's no better photo, there's no better photo, and we can only make do with the best photos available under PD or CC. For the latter, there are even different classes of CC, with Wikimedia Commons only allowing some. See Commons:Licensing#Well-known_licenses.
If you still do not understand, I suggest posting on Commons:Help desk, where they will be able to explain it better to you. Seloloving (talk) 02:36, 1 May 2021 (UTC)

Okay. What about this one? https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:%D0%92%D0%B8%D0%B7%D0%B8%D1%82_%D0%BC%D0%B8%D0%BD%D0%B8%D1%81%D1%82%D1%80%D0%B0-%D0%BD%D0%B0%D1%81%D1%82%D0%B0%D0%B2%D0%BD%D0%B8%D0%BA%D0%B0_%D0%A0%D0%B5%D1%81%D0%BF%D1%83%D0%B1%D0%BB%D0%B8%D0%BA%D0%B8_%D0%A1%D0%B8%D0%BD%D0%B3%D0%B0%D0%BF%D1%83%D1%80_%D0%9B%D0%B8_%D0%9A%D1%83%D0%B0%D0%BD_%D0%AE_%D0%BD%D0%B0_%D1%82%D0%B5%D1%80%D1%80%D0%B8%D1%82%D0%BE%D1%80%D0%B8%D1%8E_%D0%9E%D0%AD%D0%97.jpg. I find it within commons, it is not subjected to copyright violation. --Manwë986 (talk) 02:45, 1 May 2021 (UTC)

That would be usable. However, as a consensus on the talkpage has been established on the present photo previously, the best course of action would be to propose this photo on Talk:Lee Kuan Yew to gain support for this photo. I would not support it as after cropping it, it would be at a substantially lower resolution, but others might support it and form a new consensus. Seloloving (talk) 02:50, 1 May 2021 (UTC)

Removal of edits on Jurong GRC

Hi I have notice u remove my edits made on the page mention in the header. The information abt the co lead has been there since even before the cabinet reshuffle. Why are u reverting the edits and saying there must be a source now? I dont think we do need as it is understood that once a member is political office holders he or she will be eventually placed as a leader. Pls reply and stop reverting alr. Thanks!

Can you provide a source that the individuals co-lead the GRC? Otherwise, even if they are Cabinet members, this information cannot be added. I have done my best to search for sources for you and have found nothing so far to indicate that they co-lead the GRC, so until you provide a source, I cannot agree on that addition. You may search for sources on Straits Times, CNA or any other form of news media, but I have been unsuccessful so far. Seloloving (talk) 08:58, 16 May 2021 (UTC)

If you are saying that then that means other pages also will need a source as well. Then why u nvr mention the other pages as well? I honestly can tell u not all pages whenever it comes to the individuals leading the team code a source. So how would u explain this then? Pls reply and let me know your take on this! Thanks!

All information must be backed by a source and unsourced material can be removed at any time. Just because I did not remove it from the other pages does not mean it is right, and I will gladly remove all the information from the other pages when I have the time. My only concern is to prevent even more addition of unverified material until I have the time to check through all the pages. Seloloving (talk) 09:21, 16 May 2021 (UTC)

Appreciation

Just dropping by to convey my appreciation for all the work you're doing on the Lee Kuan Yew page. I wish I had the time to help you, but I'm tied up with external commitments for a while. When you're done, you may want to consider submitting it for WP:Peer review, which will give a sense of residual areas for improvement and the article's suitability for a WP:GA nomination. Kohlrabi Pickle (talk) 09:39, 10 June 2021 (UTC)

Thank you. I have a lot of sections planned. This is going to an enterprise of a few months as there's really a lot to write about, so I will need all the assistance I can get. I have spent the past few weeks checking out budget bookstores and libraries for sources too, and have nearly everything I need. Seloloving (talk) 10:00, 10 June 2021 (UTC)

Lee Kuan Yew

Hi, I came across the Lee Kuan Yew article after watching a video about him and realized that it's currently being reconstructed by you. However, is it just me or is the article pretty long for readers to stay focused? Perhaps it would be beneficial if sub-sections such as "Political positions" or "legal suits" could be placed in a new article, and subsequently have everything hyperlinked back to the main article via a series template. (I've seen this quite often with most political figures throughout Wikipedia). Anyways, good work with everything that you've done so far! 71.162.141.162 (talk) 12:09, 13 June 2021 (UTC)

Re your edit summary on Parliament of Singapore

Because it's a sock ([2]). CMD (talk) 13:36, 6 June 2021 (UTC)

I have seriously lost track of all these edits. Sigh. Seloloving (talk) 13:46, 6 June 2021 (UTC)
I doubt anyone has track of all of the edits! Just thought it was worth informing you so you don't end up wasting time in a bad faith discussion. CMD (talk) 16:37, 6 June 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for the headsup, I appreciate it. Seloloving (talk) 00:43, 7 June 2021 (UTC)

I honestly doubt it was single-handedly only their idea to change the coat of arms imagery on that article, based upon what I'm seeing when comparing the image qualities. Wikipedia isn't all about aesthetics, of course. However looking at Chipmunkdavis's edits, he seems to have a personal feud with articles relating to Singapore, and arguably Singapore in general thanks to whatever IRL experience they had. Regional rivalries, all too common and Wikipedia definitely isn't safe from it! Facing similar issues on my side of the world as well. 41.86.253.59 (talk) 17:01, 6 June 2021 (UTC)

It has absolutely nothing to do with image quality here. The crest and mace combined represents the Parliament of Singapore, the crest alone does not represent Parliament, but the state. Please also don't make unwarranted accusations against CMD.
From your side of the world, I presume you mean Benin? Seloloving (talk) 00:43, 7 June 2021 (UTC)
Lol. CMD (talk) 01:54, 7 June 2021 (UTC)

114 on the LKY talk page is our sock friend by the way, no need to engage. CMD (talk) 05:55, 22 June 2021 (UTC)

I had a feeling too, considering the increase in single edit IPs arising from around here, which was why I deleted my reply. Thank you. Seloloving (talk) 09:50, 22 June 2021 (UTC)

Main photo of Lee Kuan Yew

Seloloving, I want to format proposal for the photo. It seems that you did not ask the government for a better photo, did you? --Manwë986 (talk) 10:37, 12 July 2021 (UTC)

Is there something wrong with the present one? It's in colour and depicts him at the time of his premeirship. No one seems to have a problem with it after two months or so. I would be very unlikely to support a replacement unless you can find one which depicts him between 1959 and 1980. Seloloving (talk) 10:43, 12 July 2021 (UTC)

I prefer a photo of him in his old age. I mean, the government did not get back at you about the photo, did it?--Manwë986 (talk) 11:20, 12 July 2021 (UTC)

Biography pages of deceased persons usually depict the person in their youth. You can propose, but I deem it very unlikely you will find any traction. I would honestly suggest you drop the matter (WP:DROPTHESTICK) if after two months, no one else has found any problems with the existing one. I do not divulge my correspondences with any government agency in the search for photos. Seloloving (talk) 11:25, 12 July 2021 (UTC)

What will happen if I do not drop the matter? I'm away for two months because of how unfair this Wikipedia has been.--Manwë986 (talk) 13:45, 12 July 2021 (UTC)

You are still free to propose a change. But as I said, the standard for biography articles for deceased persons is to use an image of them for the position they are most famous for in the prime of their age (for LKY, it would be when he was prime minister). I do not think you will be able to overturn this wide prevailing consensus for a single article. In addition, in the last vote, I very kindly helped to set up the proposal for you even when I did not need to, and you failed to give your vote. Other editors have also noted that unless you can come up with a better photo, you should drop the matter and move on to editing other topics you are interested in.
Bold textWikipedia is not about winning, or losing. I myself have seen several of my proposals rejected, and I dropped the matter and moved on to other things. It may be disheartening, but there are always bigger fish to fry. I would sincerely suggest you carry on editing the articles you are interested in, such as animals or your favourite television shows. Seloloving (talk) 13:54, 12 July 2021 (UTC)

What happened for the last proposal? How many against me? I dont see any rules of standard. And enough of your suggestions. The rules are fixed. The old photo had been the main photo since the creation of the article. And Lee Kuan Yew is my idol.--Manwë986 (talk) 14:07, 12 July 2021 (UTC)

Feel free to propose it then. I will revert it per my comment. The last proposal was three votes to one against the photo you like. Seloloving (talk) 14:08, 12 July 2021 (UTC)

May I ask who are these three people? And is it very important that the photo depicts him looking at the camera? It's not about whether I like the photo or not, as there's no better photo of him in his old age. So what if I find a better photo depicting him in his old age, they will vote against because of this standard. And it's not easy to find one, I can only find in Google images, there are perfect photos, but not government properties as it were. What is this revert it per comment?--Manwë986 (talk) 14:32, 12 July 2021 (UTC)

There is a perfectly fine photo of him at the moment. I have already said I will not support any photo which is not taken between 1959 and 1980, latest 1989, and will oppose any older shots of him for the lead photograph. If you are unable to find a good public domain photo on Google, you will have to wait until government photos expire in 2030-2050.
Please drop the matter, or propose on the talkpage. This is getting nowhere fast. I have given my best advice to you that it's probably a pointless task. It's your right to ignore it. Seloloving (talk) 14:46, 12 July 2021 (UTC)

And this main photo must be from government, isn't it? I said it that I prefer older shots of him. This "standard" rule all I can say for it is fixed. There are people said the Wikipedia is untrustworthy and corrupted due to certain rules. Never mind, I will try to find a good older photo of him and report to you, see if it's acceptable.--Manwë986 (talk) 15:55, 13 July 2021 (UTC)

Look Manwë986, I have said I am not going to support any older photo of him. If you wish to propose a older photo, please do it on the talkpage. I will not endorse any photos of him which does not depict him as prime minister, no matter what photos you find of his later years. It does not matter what you prefer if other editors have express preference of a younger LKY. You will just have to accept it and drop the matter.
I regret to say this, but please do not post on my talkpage again. Any further posts here will be reported to the admins. Seloloving (talk) 15:59, 13 July 2021 (UTC)

Far Eastern Bible College -- reference to "The Burning Bush"

@Seloloving: Dear Seloloving, you have reverted my edit to support your fellow editor Randykitty who had removed my inline external link because it is "inappropriate" presumably because Wikipedia has rules deeming this to be so. Not wishing to take issue, I then changed the link to add a reference to support the pre-existing narrative "It is distributed free to students and alumni of the college and members of the Bible-Presbyterian churches" as well as the (added) "and also available online" with the url in the reference providing the link to the page where past and current issues of the "The Burning Bush" are located and can be downloaded for free (no advertising revenue involved as download is free).

Before Randykitty removed "The Burning Bush" on his second attempt, the link in the reference to the page on "The Burning Bush" had been there for well over 4 years. Since you have special rights and privileges as a Wikieditor of equal or maybe even higher ranking than Randykitty, you may access "The Burning Bush" as of 6 May 2021 (now removed) to verify this. Alternatively, you may also access Journal of the Evangelical Theological Society ("JETS") to see that the current references to the society and archived copies of its journals are also primary links. I'm not suggesting that the JETS references/links be removed since they provide only basic information and the the society is unlikely to be much enriched by the subscriptions to access archived copies of JETS journals. I believe that the rule of sticking strictly to primary sources should not be slavishly applied: WP:COMMON. More than 4 years ago, there was a primary source that was not only strictly prohibited by Wiki rules but was also inaccurate in "The Burning Bush", but Rankdykitty did not remove the source (there should be no reason for him not to then know the strict Wiki rules) and the text based on it until recently -- just before putting up his second proposal to have "The Burning Bush" deleted.

It looks like an old Carl Sandburg quote, “If the facts are against you, argue the law. If the law is against you, argue the facts. If the law and the facts are against you, pound the table and yell like hell,” applies to Wikieditors with special rights and privileges with the last part "pound the table and yell like hell" analogous to bending the rules or disregarding similar facts in other situations to the situation at hand meriting the same consideration. Watchman1234 (talk) 15:23, 17 July 2021 (UTC).

Sorry, I am not going to read the entire chunk. You really need to cut down on these monologues and articulate your point succinctly in a single paragraph. I have no connection to Randykitty and it's up to you to prove that your addition is valid. If you are reverted by two different editors, please take it to the talkpage instead. Also, there is no such thing as editors with "higher ranking". You are as equal as I am. Seloloving (talk) 15:28, 17 July 2021 (UTC)
Previous link in reference in the "The Burning Bush" (before its move to merge with Far Eastern Bible College ("FEBC") was okay for more than 4 years. Rule is applied inconsistently as primary sources tolerated in Journal of the Evangelical Theological Society ("JETS"). There is no advertising for "The Burning Bush" -- since FEBC receives no revenue. JETS receives subscription for archived copies of journals. I believe there are some editors who can block people from editing: not all editors are of the same rank. Apologies if you're not someone in that rank.Watchman1234 (talk) 17:38, 17 July 2021 (UTC)
Thank you for shortening your message. In my view, it does not matter whether a rule is applied consistently as Wikipedia pages are not monitored 24/7 and one is obliged to remove anything which contravenes policy at any time. Just because it's free to access does not mean it's not advertising, as linking to it is essentially a promotion of its materials. I would be alright if you reinstate the citation without mentioning that it's available online as the link does back up that it's distributed for free to students and churches. If you are reverted by another user, it would be beyond me. It would also help if you read up more on WP:PRIMARY as a lot of your contributions are based on texts from the churches, especially points 4 and 5.
As for rank, administrators may have the right to warn and ban users accordingly, but their editing is held up to the same level of scrutiny as anyone else and they are not infallible. You may read more at Wikipedia:Administrators but the gist of it is they have no additional privileges in a content dispute and both sides must debate based on policy. Seloloving (talk) 22:36, 17 July 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for indicating ok to reinstate citation as u stated. However, yr caveat means that another Wikieditor might revert. Fyi, “and is also available online” did not pose a problem previously. As such, Wikieditors seem inconsistent. I found https://hoizamme.wixsite.com/mysite/randykitty-users interesting with the question: “Who is RandyKitty, and do the rules not apply to him?” I’m surprised that you have no connection to him since he is an admin based on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Requests_for_adminship/Randykitty. However, I’ll accept your word.
I’m glad you don’t see WP:PRIMARY as preventing the use of primary sources. In many cases, it’s hard to obtain secondary sources, e.g. Anglican Diocese of Singapore had only primary sources for nearly 15 years until 16 May 2021. Primary sources are sometimes more reliable. Point 4 is the judgement of the Court of Appeal – I don’t think any source can be more reliable. Point 5 is Wiki article written based on the two judgments. Point 3 – a secondary source (add ‘s’ to ‘http’ to access news report) – is wrong on certain points, e.g., “…, the True Life church registered the college as a charity organisation without Life BPC's knowledge.” U may check the registration date of True Life as a society and the registration dates of True Life and Far Eastern Bible College as charities at the appropriate governmental websites to confirm.Watchman1234 (talk) 10:43, 18 July 2021 (UTC).

Nice MRT Map!

Hi Seloloving, I came across your user page and saw your work on MRT maps. I really liked this map that you made for showing not just the existing lines, but also the UC segments and planned segments. In the past, I've come across some Google My Maps creations from others trying to recreate the Singapore MRT network, some including the planned and UC lines, but none of them seemed particularly good. May I ask if you have created such a map or plan to? (basically taking your existing map and putting it onto a Google My Map) Thanks! - Sentimex (talk) 22:37, 26 July 2021 (UTC)

To be honest, I have never actually plotted maps on Google. I would not be very sure on how to do it. Seloloving (talk) 23:49, 26 July 2021 (UTC)
Seloloving, I just found this map made by a reddit user /u/woodencube. I don't know who he is, but his map is quite good in terms of including all of the stations under construction, but he hasn't included planned stations, nor has he plotted both the under-construction and planned lines.
I personally don't use reddit, so I'm not sure how contacting him would work, but would you be interested in collaborating with him by any chance? I could try to assist in what little way I can if you are. Thanks! - Sentimex (talk) 12:59, 28 July 2021 (UTC)
I also just found an old link I had saved https://railrouter.sg/, but I get the feeling you must be aware of such sites. Just putting it here just in case. - Sentimex (talk) 13:11, 28 July 2021 (UTC)
Sentimex, thanks for the links. I will look into it when I have the time as I am presently caught up with other matters during weekdays. Do note that alignments can change due to circumstance (touchwood Nicoll Highway), and Google Maps might not accept the edits. Seloloving (talk) 14:34, 28 July 2021 (UTC)
I think creating a map in Google My Maps is a personal creation, I don't think it requires any approval from Google, but I have no way of being sure. Do let me know if you work on anything, I'd be very interested to take a look! - Sentimex (talk) 16:17, 28 July 2021 (UTC)

Yu Mengyu

Yu Mengyu has not retired. Your update is premature.

Please do feel free to update the page accordingly. The article says she has stepped down from "gaming's highest stage" or something like that, which I took to be the Olympics, but it could mean she's only stepping back from the Olympics, so I may be wrong. Dissident in Singapore - Rachel Zeng

Hi Seloloving, Rachel Zeng is a dissident, not merely a campaigner. She was the brain behind many of the following events and have been investigated by the police:

1. Handing flyers in front of Liat Towers in 2009 or 2010 regarding Yong Vui Kong; 2. For selling Once A Jolly Hangman in 2010 (she launched the book in Singapore); 3. For the event at Hong Lim Park, held in solidarity with pro-democracy activists in Singapore which she co-organised with Jolovan Wham; 4. For co-organising the event where Joshua Wong spoke over Skype (police also raided her home and seized 2 laptops); 5. For the organising and participating in a vigil for Prabagaran Srivijayan.

There were a few more but I cannot remember. She received stern warnings for the above. She is a very private person and did not scan and post the letters on social media but there are news articles about the above events.

Regarding "Minor Edit" - my mistake there, and thank you for flagging it with me. - Chillipadi

Even with all these activities you have listed, you still need to provide a reliable source which states outright that she's a dissident. When editing the page, there's a very clear notice that states:
This list is subject to the Biographies of living persons (lists) policy and the lists of people guideline. Please familiarize yourself with both before editing this list. In addition, note that a reliable source that justifies inclusion in this list must be provided for any new entry.
I have no objections if you can provide such a reliable source when adding it. Seloloving (talk) 16:41, 7 August 2021 (UTC)

A retiree learning how to use Wikipedia - plenty of apologies!

3 sources for now. I will learn how to include source in the next few days because I want to make some pages for a few people who have been undermentioned and Rachel is first.

Chillipadi, unfortunately, blog posts are not considered as reliable sources per Wikipedia guidelines on self-published sources. While searching Google to justify the entry for you, I had also came across the TOC and HRW links. TOC does not label her as a dissident, and neither does HRW, which calls her an "activist". You need sources like the one I have added, such as:
J. B. Jeyaretnam - J. B. Jeyaretnam, an opposition politician whose persistent outspokenness made him a leading dissident in Singapore ...
Chee Soon Juan - Chee Soon Juan is Singapore's best-known dissident.
You may find more examples on the List of Singaporean dissidents page. But the point is that the activities are not enough to highlight dissent. A reliable source must actively classify Rachel Zeng as a "dissident" for her inclusion on the page. Seloloving (talk) 16:59, 7 August 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for clarifying. I must have gotten confused because I saw Kirsten Han's name on it the list too. Never came across any articles calling her a dissident but maybe I missed some. Will leave it then. Thanks! Chillipadi (talk) 17:04, 7 August 2021 (UTC)

Chillipadi, you are right. Some of the names there might not be justified. I will have a look over the next few days. Please do message me if you require any help, of which I would be glad to assist. Seloloving (talk) 17:06, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
