Metro rail + Metrolink combined map?

Ricky, I see you have created maps for both systems. Have you given any thought to creating a combined map, at least for the Metro service area? I haven't been able to find any maps that show the two systems together, and it would be really helpful to have one (as well as perhaps persuade LACMTA and Metrolink to combine their official maps.) Thanks!

Suburban Express

Hi There! There is a company named Suburban Express in Illinois that has an unusual history (19 year old student takes on greyhound and wins, after surviving two commerce commisson investigations, predatory pricing by greyhound, etc). There was an interesting wiki article for years: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Suburban_Express&oldid=542659074. Suburban Express recently took some heat for their collection lawsuits (ie www.suburbanexpress.com/suits_to_reinstate/ ) and for tangling with some reddit moderator. Now the reddit people have hijacked the article as a way of making it a "self-object". A very vocal reddit user, almostgrad100, is pushing a sympathetic editor to destroy the article. I'd suggest that someone get in there and make it back into a useful transportation article, rather than leaving it the mess that it is. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.147.28.115 (talk) 21:37, 19 May 2013 (UTC)

Nice job with the graphics for the LACMTA. Like Hbdragon88 said, it looks GREAT! Request/recommendation though... could you correct the spelling of Anaheim and Aviation and reload the graphic? Thanks and keep up the great work! Hebron 04:39, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

Just wanted to drop a note and say what a great job you did with the infobox at Union Station (Los Angeles). Mackensen (talk) 13:54, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

Promo?

You stated that Image:Civic Center Station.jpg is a promo. Is there a link somewhewre to prove this? WAs it in one of those "Red Line Destinations and Shops" guides or something? I dunno, it never struck me as a promo, because the image is small and it isn't that great of one anyway - an image of a person's back? If that's promotoinal... Metro Rail Map

Your new map of the Metro Rail/Metro Transitways system is great! However, there are a couple stations missing from the Red Line in Hollywood. Can you make these corrections (and any that I missed) and reupload? Thanks. --SameerKhan 07:22, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

Looks good to me! Thanks for fixing that. One other thing - does the Harbor Transitway really go all the way to Union Station? The 12-minute map only shows it going to Metro Center. I've never ridden it, and I'm too lazy to check metro.net, so I'm probably mistaken. --SameerKhan 07:56, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

I guess if we wanted to be really accurate about the transitway, it should only be shown between 37th St and the Artesia Transit Center. Metro shows it continuing to 7th/Metro, but that's probably just so that people don't think these buses all just stop at 37th and never make it downtown. Then again, as you said, why stop at 7th/Metro? Some of the buses continue to Union Station. But then again, why stop with Union Station either? The buses go in all sorts of directions. It's hard to know where to draw the line. I would lean towards sticking with what Metro says on their Transitways map. --SameerKhan 02:22, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

Are you kidding me? These drawings are horrible! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.9.33.203 (talkcontribs) 23:44, 4 April 2007

Your revert

Ah, you probably just have a browser with a broken font that doesn't cover all of unicode. If you install a more complete font (dejavu is one free example) you won't have any problems. :) --Gmaxwell 06:39, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

Color formatting

Color formatting has been tried before, and was done via use of templates. Those were unanimously deleted here in 2005. Doing it through direct formatting isn't any better. hbdragon88 05:04, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Hm, wrong discussion I read. Color blindness is an issue here - it's appropriateness and necessity. I argue they perhaps might have a necessity in the main LACMTA article (once), but not for a template. hbdragon88 05:07, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Re: Silver Streak in line infoboxes

The reason why I put in "Foothill Transit:" is because I don't think anyone outside of the L.A. area would know that the Silver Streak is not a Metro service unless they clicked on the link to take them to the article (or find out by other means). The same situation could apply to, for example, the Big Blue Bus and the Rapid 3. I understand that probably 90% of the visitors to those articles live around here, but I'd rather cater to the 10% who don't, just in case. -Rcstampede 14:37, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

Metro Rail map

Hi there. Sorry about the deletion. I had left a comment on the talk page back in February and no one answered it. It was regarding the unofficial extensions on the map. The new map looks great though! Thanks. --SameerKhan 07:57, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

Expo Phase 2

Neither Expo Phase 1 nor Expo Phase 2 currently exist. So what is your point of making a standardized Metro map for the Expo Line? The line won't go into operation until 2009 or later -- two or three years from now.

Look at the Gold Line page. Phase 2 and even Phase 3 (2B) information is listed under the station list. And the Gold Line Phase 2+ has much smaller chance of getting built in the near future. It's not even in the Metro plans. But, all the Metro board thinks that Expo Phase 2 will start to be built before Phase 1 is finished. So what's your point again?

Wikipedia is a place where people go to get information. Keep this in mind. No need to obsess with stuff like using "official Metro" station names etc. You were insisting on using 23rd Street instead of 23rd/Flower. How are the readers going to make sense out of such information? Remember that you are not editing a Metro timetable brochure but an encyclopedia. And even some of the so-called official stations are hardly official. For example chances are rather high that the temporary Washington/National (your official) station will be moved to the permanent Venice/Robertson by the time construction reaches there. This information comes from the Expo people. You can't just get information by sitting and browsing the Metro and buildexpo pages. If that is the case, why even bother? People can go to Metro and buildexpo pages directly and get first-hand information and professionally drawn maps. Wikipedia is not just a summary of the Metro and buildexpo pages but a broad view.

I appreciate your contributions. But if you want to improve the article, try adding information to it, rather than deleting. Feel free to add the three proposed stations on the Venice/Sepulveda route if you like (Overland, Sepulveda, National).

In less than a year, the route will be decided. Stations won't even be finalized by then. In the mean time, we will keep the information updated along the way.

Esirgen 20:38, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

The difference between the Expo Line and the other lines is that the Expo Line does not exist. No need to bother with official station names and official-looking maps for at least another year. For a planned line, it is quite natural for the article be different in style than an operational line.

By the way why do you bother drawing these maps anyway; why don't you post actual Metro maps (with permission if necessary)? They are much better drawn. See, e.g., the map on the Metro Blue Line timetable [1]. Far superior to what you have drawn. Cross streets are shown as well; therefore, even if they say Pico, people can see that it is Pico/Flower. In the maps you have drawn and the station tables you have edited, people have no idea what you are talking about. It is as if you are only doing these edits for your personal satisfaction. Sorry for being harsh, but that's basically what it comes to.

Since the Gold Line posts Phase 2 stations, the Expo Line needs to post them as well. The reason I have only included the ROW stations on the main table is because since they are going for federal funding, this is the most likely route since it is the most cost-effective (cheapest). The other stations were listed in the diversion section. Feel free to extend the table to include other stations, but it would probably make it look confusing.

I am not a Metro insider. I get my information from going to actual meetings and meeting actual people. If anyone is interested in getting more information, this is how it is done.

Esirgen 16:39, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

You can contact Metro and ask for permission for Wikipedia. They might be much more helpful than you think.

Of course I don't mind other people editing the Expo Line article. This is extremely important. In fact many other people have contributed to the article. What I find unacceptable is people deleting useful information and carelessly messing with the figures. Then there are also the Neighbors for Smart Rail folks, who ruthlessly oppose the line through their neighborhood, and who have been conspiring to hire their own Wikipedia editors for the Expo Line (I know this fact from an insider who attended their private meeting).

Why don't you wait until the route and stations are decided so that you could draw a full Expo system map, including Phase 2? It is hardly necessary to have a system map before the Expo Line becomes part of the system -- more than two years from now. The line is not even listed under Metro Rail but planned Metro Rail (your edit I assume). The Gold Line lists its Phase 2 stations, so should the Expo Line. With both the Gold and Expo Lines aiming hard for federal funding, it's the task of transit enthusiasts like you and me to provide comprehensive and elegant, and accurate of course, articles for both lines so that they reflect the public support behind them. I think the Expo Line covers all proposed Phase 2 alternatives and station options the way it is currently written.

Esirgen 20:21, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

Did you know its already 2016 and Expo Line Phase 2 is already built and the Phase 1 of Foothill extension is too. I think this makes no sense anymore. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 114.252.7.11 (talk) 07:28, 7 July 2016 (UTC)

Chapman University Edits

Your recent condensation of the numerous sections related to Sigma Alpha Mu on Chapman University's page is appreciated. However, these headings and the FERPA issue are two separate matters and should be kept separate. Please keep it that way and refrain from inserting unverifiable facts or opinions. Thanks! 72.130.39.180 22:18, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

Ricky-

Please leave the Chapman University page alone. You continue to integrate things together that are not related. Your limited knowledge of this matter through pledging the Fiji fraternity does not make you an authority on the topic. The FERPA complaint (which deals with privacy issues) is not related to the ACLU matter (which deals with first amendment rights). Please leave them as separate issues. Thanks, 72.130.39.180 23:59, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

Ricky-

If what you posted on my talk page is the case, then you need to clean up your grammar and learn how to correctly extrapolate information from sources. While the ACLU and FERPA are both involved with Sigma Alpha Mu, the ACLU is not campaigning towards the student's privacy, they are lobbying for student rights on campus. FERPA is concerned with privacy issues stemming from the September 22nd letter sent by Dean of Students Joe Kertes to the student you mentioned. Sorry for the Fiji knock, please read between the lines though, and don't attempt to re-explain what is written. The sources are there for people to go to and read for themselves. As far as anonymity, I like it. :) 206.211.148.78 04:43, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

First off, I apologize for the spam. You are receiving this message because you have indicated that you are in Southern California or interested in Southern California topics (either via category or WikiProject).

I would like to invite you to the Los Angeles edition of Wikipedia:Wikipedia Loves Art, a photography scavenger hunt to be held at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) on Saturday, February 28, 2009, from 1:00 to 7:00 PM. All photos are intended for use in Wikipedia articles or on Wikimedia Commons. There will be a prize available for the person who gets the most photos on the list.

If you don't like art, why not come just to meet your fellow Wikipedians. Apparently, we haven't had a meetup in this area since June 2006!

If you are interested in attending, please add your name to Wikipedia:Wikipedia Loves Art#Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Please make a note if you are traveling to the area (train or plane) and need transportation, which can probably be arranged via carpool, but we need time to coordinate. Lodging is as of right now out of scope, but we could discuss that if enough people are interested.

Thank you and I hope to see you there! howcheng {chat} 00:22, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

Thank you for helping me with the compass card article. While I'm ambivalent about which is the correct name, I undid all you're edits in regards to the name because these copy-and-paste moves cannot be done. Moves must be handled by the move function to preserve the edit history, which is legally required by the licensing terms Wikipedia runs on. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Nippon Sharyo Bi-Level intercity car rendering.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Nippon Sharyo Bi-Level intercity car rendering.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 22:49, 18 October 2013 (UTC)

I am reporting you for possibly being a troublesome sock-puppet account of SecondaryWaltz.

If you are not a sock puppet account, then ultimately this warning will not be effective. However if you are, you are gonna have to be required to consult with the officials. HanSangYoon (talk) 22:16, 18 February 2015 (UTC)

To translate this into English: HanSangYoon has filed both an ANI report and a SPI report against you and multiple others. And he did so without using the proper notice templates to notify you, 'natch. Sigh... --IJBall (talk) 00:44, 19 February 2015 (UTC)
Huh. Interesting. Thanks for the translation... I would have never known about the report without your link. Never in my 9 years on Wikipedia have I had such a personal attack against me. Don't really know how to respond to such a frivolous and baseless accusation. Hopefully my response to the SPI will be sufficient. --RickyCourtney (talk) 07:43, 19 February 2015 (UTC)
Well, if this process results in anything less than a block against your (our) accuser, I will actually disappointed. But I'm sorry this has happened, and I think it's ridiculous that you (we) have all been dragged through this by this editor. --IJBall (talk) 15:58, 19 February 2015 (UTC)
Keep in mind the user is still in high school. While not an excuse for poor behaviour, I seem to recall my classmates regularly becoming outraged at most any perceived injustice around that age. Perhaps a gentle engagement might encourage an up-and-coming editor more than a punitive block. Lexlex (talk) 17:48, 19 February 2015 (UTC)
In this case, I'd view a block as being less "punitive" and more "instructive", as this particular editor seems unlikely to change their current behaviors (e.g. BATTLEGROUND) without a more authoritative response to what they've tried to pull here. --IJBall (talk) 21:03, 19 February 2015 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of Greyhound Lines

Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Greyhound Lines you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. Message delivered by Legobot, on behalf of StudiesWorld -- StudiesWorld (talk) 01:00, 1 June 2015 (UTC)

Thank you and pls help

I got your "thank you" note for my edits to L.A. Union Station and I do appreciate the positive feedback. Nowadays I have to be careful using Wikipedia. I'm often provoked into my Auto Edit mode when I see articles that need help. LOL.

Actually, I wandered into "Union Station" in pursuit of "Mary Colton", the designer/architect of the Harvey House space. (Heavily rewrote and expanded her article, because she deserved it! Wow. What a life!)

Now can you help me? My skills about uploading photos, the rules on borrowing them, etc. are nil. But it looks like you are knowledgeable in this field, and located in L.A. ;-)

The Union Station article could use a good photo of the Harvey House space. I's very photogenic, especially the Navaho pattern floor!, and it's newsy, with the gastropub coming soon. And the Mary Colter article badly needs such a photo; her artistry was not confined to the Grand Canyon's South Rim.

I've found good pictures, at http://thesource.metro.net/2014/09/15/gastropub-proposed-for-fred-harvey-room-at-los-angeles-union-station/ and at http://laplaces.blogspot.com/2010/02/union-station-harvey-house.html. Since Metro is a public agency, the pix belong to the public, so lazy way grab the photo and credit Steve Hymon and Metro. Nicer thing to send Hymon an e-mail and ask for permission. Let him tell us, it's publicly owned. But you know your way around these issues better than I do.

Anyway, my problem is that if Hymon e-mailed me permission to use, I wouldn't know the proper way to grab it, add it to Wiki Commons, and insert the photo into the "Mary Colter" and "Union Station" articles. So let's you do it, OK?

And thanks again.

RickyCourtney, it's been over a month since you last edited the article or posted to the review, and the review will have been opened for three months as of Tuesday. There are still a number of issues to be addressed, including some added during August. The next time you edit here, please stop by the review to say what you plan to do with your nomination. Three months is approaching the end of its natural life, especially when progress has been stalled for so long. Thank you. BlueMoonset (talk) 17:26, 30 August 2015 (UTC)

RickyCourtney, it has been a week since our recent exchange on the review page, and no progress has been made: you have neither added references nor made a request on WT:GAN for a new reviewer. The review has been active for four months now, and the nomination submitted for nine months. I realize that this has been a bumpy road, but now that StudiesWorld is out of the picture, you'll need to be more active in pursuing this nomination. I can give you one more week to respond; after that, I will have to—with great regret—close the nomination. I look forward to seeing your new posts; I really think you should make the WT:GAN request for a new reviewer immediately, and do the additional sourcing work after that as quickly as you can. The nomination's success or failure is now in your hands. BlueMoonset (talk) 17:34, 4 October 2015 (UTC)
@BlueMoonset: Thanks for the encouragement. The sourcing work has been done and I've placed a request for help into the GAN help desk. Now I wait... again. --RickyCourtney (talk) 15:45, 6 October 2015 (UTC)

Adding back the (updated) List of TriMet bus routes

Hi, I have a proposal to add back the list of bus routes on the TriMet page. The separate page was deleted in 2013, because "Wikipedia is not a travel guide." I checked the link, but it doesn't clear anything up. I attempted to recreate the page with a slightly new list design and updated data, but that was deleted as well. I find it amazing that the person challenging the list is not questioning all of the other lists. I would appreciate you voicing your opinion on TriMet's talk page. If you would like to see my updated list, it is in my sandbox. Thanks! RES2773 (talk) 16:10, 3 October 2015 (UTC)RES2773

Metro Local

Hey Rick,

Just wanted to let you know that the Metro Local you put up for deletion was the one in Los Angeles County, not the one in King County.

Best,--TJH2018 (talk) 05:38, 22 February 2016 (UTC)

TJH2018 I actually nominated both the "Metro Local" article for the agency in Los Angeles and "List of King County Metro bus routes". Both are essentially giant lists of bus routes. The Metro Local article is also packed with unsourced information (like the "Operated by" information) and the article relies on one source. Thanks for dropping me a line. --RickyCourtney (talk) 06:03, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
Hey, So maybe what we should do is just delete the route information and instead put a link to Metro's timetable section of their website. TJH2018 (talk) 15:36, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
I also put up the list of Metro Local routes up for deletion, so once that goes, then we should delete the routes on Metro Local.TJH2018 (talk) 22:26, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for getting rid of the divisions. I made a Metro userbox, if you want it. Go Metro Userbox. TJH2018 (talk) 02:55, 29 February 2016 (UTC)

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on 91 Line. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing.
You were clearly warned in this edit summary to use the RM process. Further, please review WP:NOTBROKEN in regard to your recent edits. Regards, James (talk/contribs) 07:05, 27 June 2016 (UTC)

ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!

Hello, RickyCourtney. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)

Ricky, where are you getting that the Orange Line now terminates at America Plaza? It does that temporarily for some events – e.g. this. But, as of now, it still goes to Santa Fe Depot, unless that has changed very recently.

Incidentally, when the Mid-Coast Trolley extension opens, the plan is to pare the Orange Line back – but not to American Plaza: instead a new station near Civic Center that supposedly is in the planning stages will be the new Orange Line terminus. --[[User:|IJBall]] (contribstalk) 17:51, 11 June 2017 (UTC)

ACF-Brill

Thanks for correcting, in your recent edits to Trolleybuses in Seattle, my error of piping J. G. Brill Company as ACF-Brill Company. When I added that text, I was thinking that J.G. Brill had already been renamed ACF-Brill by the time the Seattle order was built, but I see now that the renaming did not occur until 1944. Regarding the fleet table, beware that the Seattle fleet roster at the "Tom's North American Trolley Bus Pictures" site has several errors in it (personal fan websites are usually not reliable sources for WP, for that reason; however, websites of transit-fan organizations are somewhat more likely to be reliable). I wrote the "Tom's" webmaster in May, giving him several corrections to the roster, but am still waiting for him to correct and update his table. SJ Morg (talk) 05:25, 5 July 2017 (UTC)

Re: ORCALeak / ORCA user data disclosure incident

First, thanks for your effort in editing ORCA user data disclosure incident to a higher standard. I appreciate it. I think your edits make the page more readable and palatable to rabid fans of Sound Transit.

Second, **I** coined the term ORCAleak or Abigaileak as nomenclature for the scandal. Some talk show hosts on KTTH & KVI like Todd Herman are now using that nomenclature of ORCAleak. The ideal was from the WikiLeaks controversies.

Third, I admit openly to not being very experienced in contributing to WikiPedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JosefAbraham (talkcontribs) 20:56, 11 July 2017 (UTC)

I'm simply trying to bring the fleet chart into alignment with the information supported by citations given. A core policy of Wikipedia is that articles must not contain original research and must be sourced, preferably using published secondary sources. While the information from 199.101.76.47 may be correct, it's not supported by the published primary source given. BNSF structure

Is Burlington Northern Santa Fe, LLC and Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corporation the same company? You forgot to change the info on the Union Pacific Railroad page.Granthew (talk) 20:08, 13 September 2017 (UTC)

@Granthew: Kinda sorta. A simple way of putting it is that Berkshire created Burlington Northern Santa Fe, LLC, which absorbed Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corporation. But all that's just in legal documents, everything stayed the same at the headquarters. I didn't change the info on the Union Pacific Railroad page... because the railroad competes with the BNSF Railway. I did make the changes on the Union Pacific Corporation. I will say... this is all a bit "inside baseball" for the casual reader. --RickyCourtney (talk) 20:29, 13 September 2017 (UTC)
Well that means it is not kinda sorta. You should of put that in the article. And I'm taking a guess that Burlington Northern Santa Fe, LLC and R Acquisition Company, LLC, is the same company, R Acquisition Company LLC absorbs Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corporation and then R Acquisition Company, LLC changes its name to Burlington Northern Santa Fe, LLC. I wonder what "R" stands for?
On these two documents, it does say Burlington Northern Santa Fe, LLC replaces Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corporation, but it also says that the railroad is also the former Burlington Northern Railroad:
Does the railroad call itself BNSF Railway or BNSF Railway Company? Usually, the railroad doesn't call itself by the documentation name. The PRR for example, the PRR documentation name was Pennsylvania Railroad Company, but they never called themselves Pennsylvania Railroad Company, they called themselves Pennsylvania Railroad. Thus, Pennsylvania Railroad is the proper name, while Pennsylvania Railroad Company is not. Same with Norfolk Southern and Union Pacific.
Granthew (talk) 00:17, 14 September 2017 (UTC)
I felt like I did put that into the article, in fact you just quoted what I put into the article. The publicly traded Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corporation became Burlington Northern Santa Fe, LLC, a subsidiary company of Berkshire Hathaway. The new structure enabled the railroad to owned by one entity (Berkshire Hathaway), instead of being publicly-traded and held by many shareholders. In other words, you or I can no longer go out and buy a share of BNSF... only a share of Berkshire Hathaway, the owner of BNSF.
The 1994–1998 merger of BN and SF was incredibly legally complex this SEC Form 10-K provides a good explanation of how it happened.
BNSF is legally the "BNSF Railway Company." Per Wikipedia:Naming conventions (companies) when naming pages, whenever possible, common usage is preferred (BNSF Railway, in this case), but regardless of the article title, the first sentence of the article should normally begin with the full legal name of the company (BNSF Railway Company).
Hope this helps.

Okay, but do you really have to create a subsidiary company of your own to purchase another company and make the company you purchased a subsidiary too? Can you just purchase all stock of a company without creating a subsidiary company to purchase a company?
Well the merger info on the SEC Form is pretty much straight forward. So Union Pacific Railroad should be Union Pacific Railroad Company and Norfolk Southern Railway should be Norfolk Southern Railway Company? I feel that "railroad" or "railway" can be a type of business entity title. UP and NS commonly call themselves Union Pacific Railroad and Norfolk Southern Railway while it seems BNSF calls itself BNSF Railway Company more than BNSF Railway. BNSF uses BNSF Railway, Inc. on their facebook page, what is up with that name?

Disambiguation link notification for December 14

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Fresno Yosemite International Airport, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page American Eagle (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
