Leon Trotsky's assassination[edit]

Hello, Oberobic! Please note the changes made to the Leon Trotsky article as well as the pending changes to ice axe and ice pick. Ramon Mercader, the assassin, was not a waiter, but rather a Soviet agent who had married one of Trotsky's followers and pretended to be interested in Trotskyism in order to gain Trotsky's trust. That's why he could enter Trotsky's study and deliver the blow from behind while Trotsky was reading one of Mercader's article. References provided in the article. {{helpme}} I work for the University of Management and Technology, founded in 1998 in Arlington, Virginia. Several years after we were founded, a training company in Pakistant adopted the name University of Management and Technology. That is their right. But they have placed their information on Wikipedia under that name. To protect our USA-based name and institution, I would like to know how to create a new UMT page (based on our Web site: http://www.umtweb.edu) and relink or relocate the Pakistan UMT to a more appropriate position.

I think our page on disambiguation should help you out. I'd recommend moving the Pakistani article to something like University of Management and Technology (Pakistan) and placing the article you want at the current title. Before you begin, however:
  • Since you work for the UMT, you may have a conflict of interest that could affect your neutrality on the subject. It may be best if you made a request for the article instead of writing it yourself.
  • Even if you do choose to write the article yourself, please be careful when using the UMT's website as a source. Since Wikipedia is licensed under the GFDL, all text contributions must be original - they cannot be copied from another website unless the website is similarly licensed or in the public domain, which about 98% of the time is not the case. Also, you'll need multiple reliable third-party sources to back up the information and assert the UMT's notability - using only their website as a source may cause your page to be seen as advertising and possibly be deleted.
  • If this is your first article, you should probably read through this page before you begin. It'll cover much of the information I've just given you, but in a bit more detail and will also have some more tips on formatting and such.
I hope this is of some help to you. Happy editing! Hersfold (t/a/c) 17:47, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Update: Since there are apparently several schools with that name, a fellow editor has made University of Management and Technology a full-on disambiguation page, so if your article is created, it should be at University of Management and Technology (Virginia). Thanks! Hersfold (t/a/c) 18:18, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Reply: Thank you very much! I have edited the UMT(Virginia) web site to put some neutral content there. The narrative is mainly aimed at providing the reader with links to various third parties that have oversight or knowledge of UMT and have published information about us. I think we are the only UMT in the USA, so is it possible to be UMT (USA)? Also, could you direct me to editors who might be interested in the page? Again, thank you very much!

RfD nomination of Wikipedia:Archie Talley[edit]

Hi Oberobic. You moved your subpage User:Oberobic/Archie Talley to Wikipedia:Archie Talley instead of Archie Talley. I assume this was a mistake, so I have now nominated Wikipedia:Archie Talley (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) for discussion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at the discussion page. Thank you. Fama Clamosa (talk) 14:45, 3 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for April 30[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Jack Deloplaine, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page NAIA. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
