Hi[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia,

I see you have add a few official photographs of Indian Primeministers. Unfortunately under Indian Copyright law, Govt retains the copyright of all official photographs and portraits. And we cannot use copyrighted images in Wikipedia (except under stringent fairuse conditions which mean photos of live persons cannot be used).

Unlike in USA or UK, the Indian Government (and the Press Information Bureau) retain the copyright of all their works (except govt reports and laws) and charge a fee for reuse. Thus we cannot use official photos in Wikipedia.

Let me know if you have any doubts.--Sodabottle (talk) 06:34, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Photographs[edit]

Hello Sodabottle,

Thank you for changing the photographs due to copyright issues; I was under the mistaken opinion that they were available under fair use.

Also, under Prime Minister Singh's I corrected a few stylistic and grammatical errors. For instance, the last sentence in the introductory section seems like a run-on. In addition, in the intro paragraph, he is referred to as "Mr. Singh," but everywhere else he is referred to simply as "Singh". Were those corrections appropriate?

Thanks Naveah (talk) 06:46, 3 June 2010 (UTC).[reply]

Hi, you are correct in making the changes. Wikipedia's Manual of Style frowns upon using honorifics like using "Mr" or "Dr" in the prose. I undid your other (good) changes along with the photo changes because of technical limitations (had to lump all your edits together, sorry for that :-)). Please make the corrections as you see fit. --Sodabottle (talk) 06:48, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
