Hello. Please check out User:Endroit/Chinese_Romanization, and make additions/corrections where necessary. I am asking Yuje, Ran, Visviva, Nanshu, Babelfisch, Kusunose, and Saintjust to check and modify this Chinese Romanization proposal within the next 5 days.
After that we should move this Chinese Romanization page to a Project Page, and then request formal Mediation/Arbitration. I would like to nominate Yuje or Ran to be the leader for this project. Or I can be leader also. Please let me know what you think. Thanks.--Endroit 09:41, 2 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Per the recent debate on this article at WP:DRV, I have undeleted it and created a new AfD at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Samurang (2nd nomination). -Splashtalk 00:27, 16 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi Nanshu - I have tried to do a bit of a clean-up job on the revised article to improve the English. I have also deleted the second paragraph as there didn't seem to be any information there that wasn't in the first and third paragraphs. Do please check that I haven't deleted anything significant or changed the meaning. Vizjim 16:38, 16 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:Baoshan1937-Asahi-01.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Baoshan1937-Asahi-01.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. John Smith's 18:48, 24 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. I forgot to mention why I was unhappy with the status, so I'll tell you now. First of all, you haven't made reference to what the Japanese law was before 1971 - without specific information we'd just be taking your word for it (no offence). But more importantly, to be safe we have to know that it has expired under the current law, because it is possible for people to regain a copyright because new laws superceed past ones.
Also the Republic of China laws are problematic, because of course it's no longer a recognised international government. So its copyright law might not be valid in the general international community (I'm not sure on that).
Also there's the simple issue that the picture isn't in use at the moment. As far as I can remember, pictures not in use can be deleted anyway. John Smith's 14:28, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thanks for your information. I have modified the image tag under the copyright section. However can you please supply a translation for "写真著作権ハ十年間継続ス", just so that whoever reads it can see how it says the image is in the public domain? Cheers, John Smith's 16:37, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

translation Image:National history-dongyi.jpg?[edit]

Hello Nanshu! On this [1] picture there is a grey area and a grey spickled area on it, but the meaning of these grey areas in the upper corner left is in Japanese. Please could you translate those meanings in English? Thanks in advance! Guss2 23:10, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for answering. You are right I could have guessed it, but now I am sure (which always is better!) Guss2 09:13, 3 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I've read your discussion on the Leagues of Inner Mongolia page and I'm still a bit puzzled about what the real (i.e. contemporary) mongolian designation for the 'big' autonomous subdivisions in the Inner Mongolian AR is. The article still says chuulga, but according to what you wrote in the discussion aimag would be more correct (esp. when present tense is used in the introduction sentence). Is that so? Thanks in advance! Yaan 14:53, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:National history-dongyi.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:National history-dongyi.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Hi Nanshu,

A while ago, you started the article about that Altan Khans that started contact with Russia in 1607. Now I have recently read some stuff about the Khotgoid, and it seems as if Mongolian sources call this Altan Khan Khotgoidyn Altan Khan, i.e. Altan Khan of the Khotgoid. I have only checked three sources, but at least one of them seemed reliable. Do they have any reason on their side, or has this name just been given for convenience? On the contrary, I feel you are pushing your view or making original research here. The corpse thing is the opinion of Guo Moruo. Who knows exactly what those old characters actually mean. No Chinese dictionaries give Yi such meaning. Your opinion is biased and anyone can put a request source template on a doubtful statement. The other version of the S. Korea section is more fact-based. Yours is just to cite a person's opinion. I feel you are using wikipedia to attack or accuse other people for no reasons. You did violated the 3RR and continue to revert despite my warning. I've have you reported. Coasilve 04:00, 11 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please see my response to Coasilve's report: [2]. You must stop edit warring. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. Heimstern Läufer (talk) 06:42, 11 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You have been engaged in this editing war for a long time. The other version of the S.Korea section are supported with relevant sources. Such content should be kept. You can't simply revert them. The "bigbow" theory is not defund in any sense, because that is how the Chinese Yi character is structured. Such interpretation can be found in many Chinese sources. You basically seem to say the Chines Yi character is not composed of "大" and "弓". As for "Confucius is Korean" is just some Chinese nationalists' opinion. It is not the kind of thing that should be in an encyclopedia. At last you definitely need provide sources for those statement that I put need source template on. I also think it is more meaningful for you to have a picture that compares the Oracle script of Yi and Shi to back your claim that Yi means Shi in Oracle scripts. An opinion that those inheritants of Oracle scripts were not smart enough to figure out. Coasilve 16:32, 11 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is how Shi looks like in Oracle script and Bronzware script. It is totally different from that of Yi. Besides the bow thing existed in Xia dynasty well before these scripts came into existence. I think you better remove your nonsense from the article. I don't think you consider your aunt (姨) as a female corpse. But that makes sense according to your theory. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:National history-dongyi.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:National history-dongyi.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 14:57, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Mona standard.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Mona standard.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. Thank you[edit]

It's great to see you are still (or again) active in the English Wikipedia. I admire your efforts separating fiction (or popular history) from fact. Many articles are misleading to say the least, because they do not say which interpretations of texts are established and which ones are hazardous constructs of nationalistic fringe historians. Of course, it is also important to remind people of differences in texts' reliability when spurious or third-hand sources are used to bolster dubious claims. It must be tiring for users like you (or Visviva, Nlu and others) to try to instill some common sense in our Greater Corean co-editors on the relevant articles' discussion pages. Thank you for taking all your trouble. Wikipeditor (talk) 17:27, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

yuan rulers[edit]

I don't know if this helps, but one German book I have (Michael Weiers, Geschichte der Mongolen, Stuttgart 2004) uses Khubilai, Öldscheitu Temür, Haischan Külüg, Ayurbarwada (or Buyantu), Schidebala (or Gegen), Yesün Temür, Aragibag, Tugh Temür, Khoschila, Irindschinbal, Toghon Temür. 'dsch' should be pronounced like 'j', 'sch' like 'j'. Using Haischan on one hand and Khoschila at the other seems a bit inconsistent to me, but maybe it's a typo. Not really sure about Aragibag either, but this name does not look Mongolian anyway. Happy new year, Yaan (talk) 19:40, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Köke Temür, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Mongolia work group[edit]

Hi, I'd like to invite you to the Mongolia work group of the WikiProject Central Asia. You're welcome to add that page to your watchlist and participate in discussions there. So far, many general discussions about topics related to Mongolia have been discussed on individual user's talk pages, away from the attention of a wider audience. I hope that a centralized talk page will make communication between all of us easier. If a question doesn't primarily concern just one specific user, then the work group is probably the right place to ask it. See you there! --Latebird (talk) 06:15, 25 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
