Rodrigo Duterte as a CE[edit]

I think the IP removed the important part "The statement is met with outrage among Jewish communities in the United States". The exact quote from the source is: "His comments triggered shock and anger among Jewish groups in the United States, which could add to pressure on the U.S. government to take a tougher line with the Philippines leader". - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 22:28, 30 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Knowledgekid87: Even with the IP's remarkable insistence and generally difficult attitude, I still believe this statement is of very limited significance in itself. Duterte has, in the past, made a huge amount of controversial statements, frequently met with public outcries, to me this is just one of them - pure political posturing. The report fails WP:DEPTH, and will almost certainly fail WP:PERSISTENCE (even the fact that the US might exert further pressure remains a speculation at this point - note "COULD"). Having been at Portal:Current events for a while and seeing similar statements from Duterte being removed for the same reason, I frankly do not see why this particular one should stay. Consider the possibility of filing it to WP:ITN/C and think about the responses it might get - that should be a testimony to its significance. ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open![edit]

Hello, Morningstar1814. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Regarding Template:Knights Templar[edit]

Hi there. Thank you for addressing your concerns:

  • 'I was under the impression that the papacy and its ecclesiastical jurisdiction would not use the flag of a sovereign state; it turns out I was wrong, so this should be of no issue.'

The Flagcon is of the Holy See. The Flagcon is of Portugal. These two hold jurisdictions as aforementioned. Not a problem at all.

  • 'However, the flags remain inappropriate. We're seeing two unsightly flags out of nowhere, unexplained (WP:WORDPRECEDENCE),

This part is irrelevant as to you it may be unsightly and to others it may be sightly it depends on the individual opinion. When entering a discussion on information, neutrality and unbiased representation is extremely important.

  • 'You might have also noticed that flags aren't often used in this sort of sidebars. '
  • 'Plus, does the expression "Portugal Order of Christ (1319)'

suggest that the modern flag was used in 1319? Has it always been used since 1319? The same can be said for the other case.'


The order exists and used at anytime the current flag can be used,obviously not for holding crusades against jihads or any fantasy fiction but for outstanding military merits within it's respective placings.

As stated in (WP:WORDPRECEDENCE)

Some flags are (sometimes or always) political statements and can associate a person with their political significance, sometimes misleadingly. Flags change, and sometimes the geographical or political area(s) to which a flag applies may also change.

As the Flagcon visualizes the nation by 'Portugal' and 'Holy See' via text it addresses this issue.

Alik Sakharov[edit]

Dear Morningstar1814,

My name is Alik Sakharov. Thank you for your contribution to the Wikipedia's page that describes the Early Life portion about myself.

Unfortunately, some information in the Early Life portion is quite inaccurate. In the description it states the following: "At the age of six, Sakharov and his family moved to Moscow, where he studied philology and philosophy at Moscow State University. In 1981, two months before graduation, Sakahrov was allowed to emigrate to the United States, eventually settling in Forest Hills, Queens in New York City. He worked as a watchmaker for three years."

Please note: the accurate information is that my family moved to Moscow when I was 8. Please also note that: the accurate information is that I never studied at Moscow State University as a formal student. This information was wrongly translated and interpreted from an interview (in Russian) some two decades ago. In this wrong and inaccurate form this information appeared in print, and then on internet. For the sake of being true and accurate, and for the sake of stating no misinformation, I ask that you please remove the Moscow State University reference.

Another bit, which is widely misunderstood is that being born in Tashkent, a capital of the Uzbek Republic of the former USSR, is quite different from what is now called Uzbekistan. To a former national of the Soviet Union there's a huge difference when one says/states in writing he was born in Uzbekistan. This is wrong. The correct, truly accurate form of statement is: he was born in Tashkent, former USSR (which is what it really and truly was at the time of my birth and until the formal fall of the Soviet Union, or more simply, USSR).

And lastly, please correct the spelling of my last name in the second sentence of the quoted text, where the name is spelled as Sakahrov, but should be spelled as Sakharov.
